So as ya’ll know, last week I attended the screening and press junket for Take The Lead. And honestly I must say, the movie was much better than I thought it would be. Yes, from the trailer it looks like a cross between Save The Last Dance and Dangerous Minds with a little bit of Sister Act 2 thrown in there. And it kinda is. But it actually had a deeper storyline that is based on a true story.


The movie is about how a ballroom dance teacher voluntarily takes on students who are sentenced to “after school detention” for the whole year. They are troubled kids in a program to get extra academic help. Mr. Delaine (Antonio Banderas) teaches them ballroom dancing in order to teach them about life, which will in turn give them motivation to do better in school.

My take on this movie? Could you wait to catch it on DVD or HBO? Yes. But would you regret droppin a couple Lincolns on it to see it when it comes out? Probably not. And not to mention, the soundtrack with Q-Tip and Swizz Beats is cool.

Now when I first heard about this, I thought these were just the typical rumors that always float around about happy couples in the entertainment bizz. BUT….since Kimora’s book has flopped and Russ is always tryin to find a reason to make more money off his empire, I figured they probably started these rumors their damn selves. On the gossip tip: Urban designers Ryan Glover, Kenny Burns, and Derek Dudley came together and formed a new urban-style clothing line labeled ‘Ryan Kenny.’ They’re responsible for outfitting rap icon Jay-Z and R&B’s music icon Usher…both in street wear as well as business wear. Glover’s estranged wife, stylist to the stars Tameka Glover and Ryan Kenny’s #1 client Usher made headlines earlier this year when pics of the singer & Tameka (who is now Usher’s former stylist after being fired from Usher’s mother/manager Jonetta Patton) vacationing in St. Tropez….alone surfaced. The two were rumored to have been involved in a relationship at the time.
