So celebs hit up the portrait room and the backstage and audience areas at the BET Hip Hop Awards taping last night.  And by celebs I'm including social celebs such as two of the Jena 6.  Bryant Purvis and Carwin Jones of "The Jena Six" presented the Best Hip Hop Video Award and gave a spiel during the presentation about exactly what this whole Jena 6 controversy is about.  I'll look at the up side of their being at a Hip Hop Awards show and say I applaud BET for including social activism in a show like this.  Moving on...   Ashanti and Nelly got cozy in the audience before his performance:    I'm just mad they actually let him perform that "Shawty What Ya Name Is" foolishness. Common kicked it with Cee-Lo and then hit the stage: David Banner clearly is still preserving his sexy and hit the stage to talk about Mr. Vick and ther foolish black folk:  Whatev.  If that David wasn't so damn cute I would continue to talk ish.  Hurricane Chris took the stage.  And because I always hold it down for my Louisiana peoples...I'ma let the foolishness I see right here slide.   Yeah, I am. CiCi, JD, and Shaniah had some fun in the audience and backstage.  Kanye and LL kicked it before Kanyeezie's performance.  I guess LL just hates Big Brother, not the whole Def Jam fam.  Gotta love Katt Williams.  I was hoping she was going to change clothes once she got inside.  Oh well. My statement above about my Louisiana peoples still remains in the case of Lil Boosie.  Weezy was spotted in the audience with all 35 of his kids before he hit the stage:   And even if he wasn't from the N.O....I'd still let Weezy slide.  When it comes to the mic, he is indeed THAT dude. What it do Mannie Fresh?  Long time no see.  And because you decided to reappear with a fadehawk (a fade that some kind of way becomes a mohawk on one's head), you will skate past the criticsm I should give due to the Louisiana statement above. Melyssa Ford and Ne-Yo kicked it in the audience.  Your arm and hand are extra comfortable around this chick Ne-Yo. Soulja Boy cranked that soulja.  And Swizzy kicked it in the audience. Soooo....Ms. Rih Rih got a new tattoo this weekend: I'm not ok with this right here.  I don't care if it's finished or not...ish aint a lick of cute. Keyshia Cole got chicks thinking big ass arm tattoos is the hotness these days. Tisk tisk. And whoever this was spotted leaving the tatoo parlor with her the other night needs to be slapped for allowing it. Amerie was spotted looking fab at the Girlguiding UK Big Gig event in Manchester this weekend: Cute. And Halle hit up the Things We Lost in the Fire Press Conference in the NYC yesterday: Gabby's finally got some work:   Her movie Perfect Holiday with Morris Chestnut, Queen Latifah, Terrance Howard and other black folks is hitting theaters soon.   The trailer is out here and here's some more flicks: My fave UPN/CW chicks are back--Rachel True and Jill Marie Jones.  I'll definitely be seeing this....rehashed actors and storylines and all. And speaking of movies:   Congrats to Tyler Perry and the whole Why Did I Get Married? cast and crew for holding down that #1 spot at the box office this weekend.  The movie was indeed excellent and fabulous.  Definitely a surprise classic that may be taking my classic obsession's (Best Man) place.
