But Kim says there can be no competition between them because Remy’s a man and she’s a woman. Damn. Then she goes on to explain the drama between them. Glad to see Princess Tiana is coming to lil’ girls everywhere. At first I was mad that she is just comin’ from da’ bayou and it seemed like other princess had more glamourous pasts. But after thinking about it, no they really don’t. Besides if they had Princess Tiana coming from somewhere in Africa, I’d be suspect as well. Not that anything is wrong with that, but I’d be the first to state “oh so a Princess can’t come somewhere out of our collective and diverse African American culture” what’s that about? But no, this is good. Setting the context in mystical and historical la Louisiana and showcasing the African American cultural roots of jazz sounds good. Looks like Disney might have somebody who knows what they are doing advising on this project, ’cause Disney been messin’ up with our representation since the late 1940’s, and in their animated stuff I was thinking that black folks couldn’t be anything but lions, hyenas, baboons, and crows, etc. But caution ’cause Disney has a bad habit of using exaggerations of language-styles of their character voices to type caste and overly characterize. So let’s just hope that they don’t have “frog’s” character sounded like Tyrone from Compton to set up some kind of forces contrast to Princess Tiana. Caution cause Disney will drop some racists or let’s saw highly prejudiced stuff in ‘dey sh%$! There’s research to show it too.
