WANT YOUR OWN AVATAR? GET IT HERE.

Okay, So I understand what

Okay, So I understand what all of y'all are saying. But as a Young black Woman myself, its a shame to see you all bashing and disrespecting another Woman; No matter what race. Im not trying to get anything started, but I will say, You all should be ashamed of yourself. To disrespect and Ignorantly slander a 14 year old; that shows Immaturity and No Respect for yourself. I Dont see any of You with a Song, let alone a video, an ambassadorship, a book and anything else. I think that these days we need to ban together. We have the white man continuously trying to break us down, We should stand strong, and be proud of one another. I find it interesting that its so many of you that have negative things to say about this girl, and very few that have some postive things to say. However for those of you who has nice things to say about this girl, I applaud you. I dont know this Young Woman from adam, but as another human being, I have respect for her. Its an old WISE sayig that im sure all of you may know... "Do unto others as you would want don unto you'. Call me a square, but i watched Dr. Phil... and I read the books. I major in Psychology. Its a known fact that in order for you to build yourself up, you bring others down. Now I may be wrong, You may all just be saying wats on your mind, because thats the way you feel. But as a girl from the bronx, I will say, that hatin' wont get you anywhere. I honestly have to ask you all a question. Do you think that what you say will taint her? Or make her cry? Or maybe in the end make her quit? Thats funny, better yet hilarious. I hope you all have a wake up call sooner or later. and stop disrespecting our women like this. We can talk about the Hip Hop videos and the Video 'Hoes' but when a young, respectable, BLACK WOMAN comes out on the scene, with a dream and a message, We put her down? Wow, thats a shame. I agree, that some of the things on the radio these days are bad, of course its not what it used to be, but just like people, the world evolves. People get older, things change. We cant always be stuck in that Era. And for Gods Sake, At least she isnt in a G- String Out on the stroll, Or backstage at a Ludacris Concert giving Oral Sex.At least she isnt pregnant at 14, or in the abortion clinic, or leaving her baby on the steps of a hospital making the 6 oclock news. Or atleast she isnt another statistic. A young teen with HIV/AIDS. At least she's spreading the message about the disease. I dont see any of you saying anythng about saving ourselves from the deadly disease. She has a song, talking about a relationship that is missing loyalty and respect. Would you prefer she be talking about shaking her butt or sliding down the pole? It sounds like MOST of you are grown, And if I must say, thats sick. Dont you have jobs? Or familys? Or better things to do? Than sit on a Gossip website and talk about a 14 year old? That shows immaturity and to some extent, pure ignorance. Now from my perspective, It seems to me that, at least partially, its the same people leaving comments under different screen names, I could be wrong, But I find it rather strange that so many people would have such negative things to say. Im sure that most of you might feel disrespected by this post, and by all means, feel however you want, but again, as a WOMAN, black, white, purple, green.... I refuse to sit back and let a young lady get disrespected as such. I hope you all took something from this. If not, oh well. But dont be jealous because she has more than you had when you were her age. Her father and mother were fortunate enough to find high paying jobs and start clothing companys etc... Dont knock them for wanting to do something with thier lives. When you all get a video, or a song, or a website, or book, a reality show, or a clothing line or even make it to the NBA then, and only then, do I think you should show ANY interest into those who have already made it. In closing, I will say, Its guaranteed that she will make it to the top. If y'all had done some more research, Im sure you would have felt the same way. She's too driven to give up, just because of a few lame comments on a gossip site. She has bigger fish to fry im sure. So Your opinions, they dont matter. Sorry to burst your bubbles. Im sure shes in a mansion somewhere, on the computer....or cellphone...watching television...or even sitting doing noting......(hmmm.... reminds me of some folk). All in all, DONT HATE. Its not attractive. -Marrissa S.

Wow, enough said. Marissa S.

Wow, enough said. Marissa S. is very right. This young girl is doing big things and it is sad that grown ass ppl would waste their time at work hating on a little girl. This is the gir you would hope you kids would become instead of some baller's baby mother. Its time for our ppl. to get our minds right. For real.

From the above bio, Chani

From the above bio, Chani seems like a remarkable young lady, however, I personally don't think that singing (or dancing for that matter) is her strength. Gotta love the fact that she tried it out though!

PLEASE DO NOT HATE ON HER

PLEASE DO NOT HATE ON HER BECAUSE SHE IS NOT FAT. BLACK WOMEN ARE SO CRITICAL OF SKINNY BLACK WOMEN, BUT BEING HEALTHY MEAN BEING IN THE PROPER WIEGHT CLASS WHICH MOST BLACK WOMEN ARENT. IF YOU WIEGH 150LBS, YOU SHOULD BE 5'10 AND UP, NOT 5'4. THAT IS OVERWIEGHT AND NOT HEALTHY. DONT BELIEVE ME? ASK YOUR DOCTOR. HAVING A 30INCH WAIST MAKES YOU MORE PRONE TO CANCER AND HEART DISIESE. WHY DO YOU THINK BLACK PEOPLE HAVE SUCH HIGH CHOLESTEROL, DIABETES, AND HEART PROBLEMS? BECAUSE WE EAT UNHEALTHY PRCESSED FOOD AND ARE NOT ACTIVE. SHE IS 18 YAERS OLD AND IS HEALTHY. GO READ A MEDICAL JOURNAL.
shay's picture

Im so sick and tired of

Im so sick and tired of everyone and their negative comments about women who are skinny. If i went around calling all of you fat and unhealthy, which is what being fat is, you would be outraged. It is possible, and natural, to be thin i.e. Jaslene, or Forrests's wife, and Jourdan Dunn. You have to remember that your words hurt us naturally thin girls just as bad as your feelings were hurt when you got teased for being fat in middle school. Also, Jourdan and chanel Iman are young. Its bad enough that we (skinny girls) are ridiculed by men that want us to have bodies like video girls but when women do it its worse. Obesity is a problem in our commun ity and just because we're not fat doesn't mean we dont eat. it means you gain too much weight cus you eat too much AND DONT EXERCISE. IF YOU ARE BELOW 5'8 AND WIEGH 140 AND UP YOU ARE OVERWEIGHT!!! IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME ASK YOUR DOCTOR OR CHECK A MEDICAL WEBSITE. YOU ARE MORE AT RISK FOR CANCER AND HEART DISIESE.

Thank You! It was killing

Thank You! It was killing that no one had figured that out...It's not history if Naomi did it first...Duh! And why should Prada get an American model if their a European company...they're not obligated to please Americans...they get most of the revenue from European couture clients anyway.
You know I am embarassed everytime some black person oohs and ahhhs.. about sh*T like this! PRADA should not have ONE black person buying OR wearing their clothes. It is obvious what they don't want black people wearing their clothes. For 15 YEARS they have gone OUT OF THEIR WAY to avoid putting black model on a runway, and in front of television cameras wearing their clothing. That was a very deliberate choice by PRADA, something they did on purpose!!! They don't want black people associated with their clothes. If you are a proud black person you would never buy or wear anything from PRADA!! Don't rap or sing about their WACK clothes. FU*K THEM!! Jay-Z got it right, when he decided NOT sell Cristal in his restaurants, when a Cristal spokesperson implied that hip hop may be hurting their brand and that "I am sure that Dom Perignon or Krug would be delighted to have their business." It's all about respect people!! If PRADA didn't want a black person wearing their clothes on a runway for 15 years, they didn' want a black person to be wearing it on the street either! Don' get punked by these people, don't be disrespected, and still buy their shi*!!
YOU ARE SO RIGHT. I GUESS WE WILL HAVE TO WEAR FLASHY DEREON AN BABYPHAT! DON'T GET ME WRONG I LOVE BEYONCE AND I'M ONE OF HER BIGGEST FANS BUT THE CLOTHING LINE NEEDS TO BE TONED DOWN, BUT I'LL WEAR THAT BEFORE I WEAR ANY OF THE RACIST WHITE FASHION HOUSES CLOTHES.

Okay, I'm all for everyone pursuing their dreams, not giving up blah, blah, blah BUT...Chani.....has absolutely NO RHYTHM. Whatsoever. When music execs describe people like Chani as 'the NEXT BIG THING'..it solidifies exactly why we have such crappy music being played 24/7 on the radio. Sad, sad, sad... For her and for US....for her because they're blowing her head up and for US because we'll WANT TO BLOW OUR HEADS UP!

LOVES IT, JOURDAN & CHANEL! Isn't it funny how, when we put our minds to it, EVERYTHING we do turns out the bomb? Play a sport, model, RUN FOR PRESIDENT... are people are comin' up, get right or get left! (umm... that might be you, Chani. We don't need any more talentless chicks to shake it for green, but thank you for offering.)

First and foremost - I think

First and foremost - I think you have a great site. Its one of the few sites that highlight black accomplishments and is constantly improving. The reality is that there are not many sites to get news and pics on black celebs. However, (and I guess this depends on your audience), I feel like sometimes the site is lacking in interesting commentary. Every picture is "she looks hot," or "love it" or "i want that bag." Don't get me wrong, the site has developed in many ways, however, the one line commentary is a little remedial and particularly, a more mature audience is looking for more. Blogging is a form of marketing - so I'm sure you've decided to choose the format that best works for you. However, there are other websites that I read, that grab my attention, and add witty commentary to boot. The one liners are not that much of an attention grabber - it might as well just be pics. Also, other blogs include links to other sites so that the viewer can get more info, but still come back to that blog for its content. Either way, take this as a constructive criticism. I in no way mean to disrespect or downplay the amazing accomplishments you've acheived with this site. Peace

"I can’t believe Prada has not allowed a Black woman to grace the catwalk in 15 yrs…This info should have been broadcasted a long time ago. That’s a damn shame! So much for sporting my chocolate Prada bag…I’m in boycott mode now!" That is funny people are saying this about PRADA now. It is well known, and people in the fashion industry know, and have talked about this...to the public and private. Muccia is known for this, she is an Italian Woman, and I guess she has her thoughts on what types of people her clothes are for, and most important to a designer how you want your clothes to look for the rest of the World.

I like things that are different and help me stick out. I noticed that when the seasons adds come out it in the magazines, you can count on your fingers how many people of color are in a 600 page book!!!!!!!!!!! it makes no sense. black folks are the first ones to charge up their credit cards to get that crap! I will rock verace, I will rock D&G a, yes I could snack on Dior all day long, and L.A.M.B is fire!!!!!!! I wouldn't be caught dead in baby Phat, the shit is ugly! It's commendable that Jourdan

It's commendable that Jourdan is making history with her catwalks at Prada, but sad at the same time. It's such a shame how many of us are still not being represented in some industries. After so many milestones people have already conquered, things should have changed drastically by now. I think you're right bizbodi, I see the resemblance too. She does look a lot like Ya Ya.
Music Junkie's picture

"It isn’t just Prada. Just

"It isn’t just Prada. Just this past NY fashion week people were noticing and speaking out about the lack of color on catwalks. Naomi and Tyson Beckford spoke about it in the press. Agencies are blaming the people who cast the shows, the people who cast the shows are blaming the designers. The bottom line is, the fashion industry is and always has been racist. These are the same people who will swear on a stack of bibles that they simply can’t put a black woman on the cover of a magazine because it simply won’t sell. My opinion is, if your magazine is all that it wouldn’t matter who was on the cover, people would still buy it regardless. The real truth of the matter is they don’t have to put any black models on the catwalk. As long as black singers, rappers and actors continue to sit in front rows at these shows and rock their clothes, these designers have instant cred with black folks. So, no sweeties, they don’t design for you, they don’t market to you and nor will they use anyone who looks like you to represent them. But they will still take your money and have nothing but contempt for you while they are taking it." ----------------------------- Amen! Unfortunately, it won't stop until we all wake up and realize this.
