Young, Black, and Fabulous :: I Don’t Have To Make This Ish Up.: Juvenile Says No To Attending Daughter’s Funeral And Yes To Doing A Concert & Afterparty Instead

Juvenile Says No To Attending Daughter’s Funeral And Yes To Doing A Concert & Afterparty Instead

As previously reported, rapper Juvenile’s 4 year old daughter Jelani was shot and killed last week in a horrific turn of events.  Her funeral was March 8th in James Island, South Carolina, and Juvenile was not in attendance as several sources reported.  And now, several pictures reveal what he was doing that evening instead.  He was performing a concert a couple of hours away in Augusta, GA.  More pics under the cut…

    Photog: Brigham/Spotted

Juvenile told folks he would not attend his daughter’s services because he did not want to divert attention away from the actual services with more media attention.  While sources in attendance at the concert tell The YBF that Juvenile did not have an ounce of distraughtness in his look and demeanor that night, everybody handles grief differently.  Interesting.

He’s probably never visited the child …. or knew her at all… He’s probably celebrating the fact that he no longer has to pay child support….. sorry individual

He probably thought it would be DISRESPECTFUL to show up to a funeral for a daughter that he did not claim in life & had no interaction with. Her family probably would’ve been mad that he was there. Him being there would’ve been more of a distraction. They should focus on the life of the little girl.

That being said… I can’t back you Juvie when you are out partying the same night. Now that WAS DISREPECTFUL & tactless.

True he should have been in attendance, no argument there, but everyone greives differently. Some cry, some deny, and some run away (like he is obviously doing). It’s a sad situation all around but at the end of the day, not going to see the last of his child is going to have to be his cross to bear.

      On Mar 12, 2008 at 2:12 pm | Reply | Quote

my opinion will probably be an unpopular one, but i’m not shocked or saddened by the fact that he did not attend the funeral. what’s sad is that he (presumably) didn’t do anything for the child during her life. And what’s more sad is the tragic way she and her entire family were destroyed. i believe that you should do what you can do for a person while they are living, so his showing up to a funeral would have, at best, been a meaningless gesture and at a worst, a fraud. the fact is that he was NOT her father, and the haunted dreams that someone spoke of earlier have probably already begun. so, on some level, i would rather a person just put their’s out there and say “forget your funeral” than just show up to show up when they didn’t love me anyway.

that being said, he could have respected that day by not doing the concert, but what would you expect? i actually used to be fan, but i’ve lost what little respect i had for him–not because he missed the funeral, but because of the whole background of the situation.

Truth be said!!!! First and foremost he is not a MAN!!!! Ok grant it people deal with the lost of someone different….but this was your child!!! How and God’s world could someone perform THE SAME NIGHT YOUR LOVE ONE (CHILD) was laid to rest, we ask ourselves? Well, remember that after Kanye’s mothers death(RIP Dr. West)he performed “BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT SHE WOULD PREFER HIM TO DO AND HE GRIEVED DURING THE SHOW”. but that boy(Juvenille)suppose to be the adult, FATHER…MAN..DAD..GRIEVING…and he looks as if he was enjoying every moment. Did he at anytime mention his daughter during this so-called concert? Donors are all over the world, whether it be male and or females. He was just a donor…he has to answer to his Father (God)…the boy (Juvenille) is a product of his environment!! Please pray for him…for he not know!!! Get off of your wanna-be celeb status Juvenille and MAN-UP!!!…YOU NEED THERAPY PAPI….

I am outraged that this clown. That is some effed up ish. Media attention ‘my arse’. Who da hell does he feel he is? He’s not that important. Media or not, being a father and having the feelings of a parent could NEVER lead one to make such an ‘asshole’ decision — celebrity or not. That just goes to show that he never cared about this poor innocent baby girl who, by the way, should not have died in such a horrible manner. I wonder, if his mother were to be in a similar position, would the ‘media’ prevent him from attending her funeral? But, we live in a ’shake it fast world — prolly if there were some big booty strippers, with some 18″lace front wigs who were ‘backin their asses up’ to the beat of Amazing Grace, he problably would have made it. Just in time for the drinks. Hell, patron to da patrons and have a toast to the short life of this young innocent soul.

my opinion will probably be an unpopular one, but i’m not shocked or saddened by the fact that he did not attend the funeral. what’s sad is that he (presumably) didn’t do anything for the child during her life. And what’s more sad is the tragic way she and her entire family were destroyed. i believe that you should do what you can do for a person while they are living, so his showing up to a funeral would have, at best, been a meaningless gesture and at a worst, a fraud. the fact is that he was NOT her father, and the haunted dreams that someone spoke of earlier have probably already begun. so, on some level, i would rather a person just put their’s out there and say “forget your funeral” than just show up to show up when they didn’t love me anyway.

that being said, he could have respected that day by not doing the concert, but what would you expect? i actually used to be fan, but i’ve lost what little respect i had for him–not because he missed the funeral, but because of the whole background of the situation.

what more can be said, that hasn’t been said..

I cant believe Im on here blogging with all the wonderful women. I ususally dont respond to blogs let alone trash another brotha. But Juve has crossed the line on this one. He lost a lot of cool points for pulling that BS. Dude need to get his priorities straight.Man that was his child. If he dont give a F— about his child, how is he gonna give a F— about his fans.

I will never support Juvenile, or purchase any album he is ever featured on…this is just HORRIBLE. To think, I actually felt sorry for you…I didn’t know that the prayer I had for you to recover from this tragedy was for you to do this!!! MF’er, you are kickin it while you daughter is laid to rest. WTF are you smokin’? Hopefully Karma kicks in, and you become the victim of the random acts of violence you perpetuate and condone. God bless your daughter….Fukc you dude!

Ok, so what songs did he perform?? Juve aint had a hit since……….yeah that long ago. It’s funny how he says that he didn’t got to the funeral because he didn’t want all the media attention (who told him was still relevant to the media?) to take away from the funeral, yet he’s getting nothing but negative attention. You aint never that big of a star to NOT attend your own childs funeral. I understand everyone grieves differently but come on, just to up and not go to you own childs funeral is beyond disrespectful. If he was as big as someone has lied to him and said that he was he would have arranged for it to be a very private ceremony. No excuse will ever be good enough, this was your child.

Dominque Ross, who has a Super Bowl Ring with the Cowboys and is the 11 yr old’s father attended the funeral. He was fighting for visitation and had child support issues with the Mom too, just like Juvie. Everybody wants to demonize Juvie for not going, but no one wants to address the real issue. Where is the 17 yr old boy’s father? Was there issues with him and child support too? Our women need to make sure the fathers are a part of these kids lives, even if he doesn’t pay. Stop pimping and selling these kids to their fathers. Maybe this and alot of other situations in our community could be avoided if the kids father’s are in their lives.
