Lil Wayne Covers VIBE

{Click pic for larger image}
Gremlin Weezy F. Baby is covering the upcoming April issue of VIBE mag. And of course, dude provided some quote worthy material:

Lil Wayne admits his addiction to “syrup” and suffering from withdrawal: “You will literally feel it going in, like Pepto-Bismol shows in the commercial….It pissed me off ‘cause I couldn’t get off it…I can take pain good…but that wasn’t pain I could take.”

Lil Wayne’s response when questioned about his lifestyle: “Don’t judge me until you meet me. And you know when you gonna meet me? Never. So don’t judge me. Don’t worry about my health because…what you doing? And when you tell me what you doing, I bet it ain’t half as great as what I’m doing…I smoke, drink, and…do what, who, and how I want and I’m going to keep doing. And I’ma die the way I want. And that’s that.”

More quotes when you read the rest...

Lil Wayne talks about his love for making music: “I love the studio…It feels like going into a classroom, you know you didn’t study everything, the test gets in front of you, and you’re like ‘Damn, I know all the answers.’ That’s how I feel when I get in the studio, like ‘Damn, I know all the answers.”

Lil Wayne on his legacy: “I wanna be a Bob Marley. I wanna be a Tupac – their lives mean so much…I wanna mean so much after I’m gone. Y’all still gotta do shows, tributes, dedicate 20 whole minutes to me on every show. I want that.”

Lil Wayne’s response when asked if he’s scared of death: “F--- no. I’m more afraid of life than death…I don’t know where you going when you die, so I ain’t too scared of that. I already know what’s poppin’ ‘round here. It’s scary out here.”

Lil Wayne on wanting respect as an artist: “I still feel like I’m not being respected…I still feel like I don’t have the crown. I still feel like there’s something I have to do that hasn’t been done.” Oh Weezy. The issue hits stands today.

all of u haters are talkin some shit!!! lil wayne is the greatest rapper alive!! and if u havent realized that then u are just a hater that hasnt listened to all of his music cuz anyone that has listened to all of his music would realize what a great rapper he is

Alright I never post comments

Alright I never post comments unless I feel like I have something to say..although lil wayne is the best rapper alive, currently, his lyrics are degrading not only to women and black men..but also to himself..I agree..everyone is saying how kanye west and jayz are probably closer to tupac and bob marley..umm wrong again they all share one thing in common..and that's ignorance..constantly putting women down inorder to make a hit record..I don't think what lil wayne talks about is "right" but his lyrics are deep and has deep metaphors he speaks the truth even if he's callin females bitches..his looks HAS NOTHING to do with his success..jay-z and kanye west aren't to spiffy their damn selves..as an artist lil wayne has the "it" factor..quit judeg'n others obviously he's on the spotlight its his time to shine..when I was listening to his "real rap" song..I felt like it was the best..hands down anyone could relate to what he's saying or how he feels..when I'm down and feel alone all I have 2 do is play one of lil wayne songs and drown my sorrows..he takes drugs because he's obviously not happy with himself or the life he's living..and if he could just disappear for a couple hours..I mean if anyone could disappear from their own lives who wouldn't ...he has everything from money, cars, houses, and a daughter..if he found true love he'd probably give it all up..money doesn't buy happiness..to the person who said his lyrics does not make sense..think twice because it does make sense his lyrics is on a whole other level and if you despise someone so much why are you listening to what he has to say? DRUGS is his own personal issue none of your inputs could change who he is everyone is over there putting him down knowing they have their own situations and problems in life..I guess its easier to judge someone else rather then yourself.. Although wayne needs god in his life..and needs to quit prophocizing his death..you should never fear life.. His name will carry-on to be the greatest rapper ever..alive or dead..he's right up there with tupac and bob marley

Sad to say that I can kinda

Sad to say that I can kinda understand where he's coming from when he talks about being more afraid of life than death. (Not that I agree with him, but I understand.) The rest of what he said sounds a bit Twilight Zone-ish.

Let me tell you ofili, if you were to read my original comment, it says nothing about me being proud that he is 25 or has money, I said I was proud of the level he has made it to. There are a lot of people in the world (not just black males) that want to be a rapper, and he is living his dream, and Im happy for him. A lot of people don't get to do what they love, and Im simply saying Im happy he is getting his chance to do what he loves.... Get it now? How the issues of Black America gets thrown in that is beyond me.... And since you are from the "2nd most dangerous city", you should understand that the young men that are killing each other needs something else to do and structure in their lives.. And for some, rapping is that outlet... And like I said before it is a sad reality, but is reality, and we won't get ahead by just talking about it on a blog site.... this is from an article about

this is from an article about that song I was talkin about. I’m sure Bill O’Reily and his staff of unpaid interns can’t wait to use the new Triple C’s cut, Pill Poppin’, as proof that rappers don’t need to refrain from gun talk to still be irresponsible ‘role models.’ Joining the Miami trio are Brisco and Lil’ Wayne, who use the platform to explain that their best studio sessions are wrapped following heavy drug usage. While Ricky Ross and the Carol City Cartel look to release their independent project, Black Flag, sometime next year; maybe they can convince Eminem to do a guest verse on sleeping pills?

I like lil wayne a lot. He

I like lil wayne a lot. He has talent, there's no doubt. But I don't count on him being around even to see 2009, mark my words! I mean, look at these lyrics-though creative... "I can mingle with the stars & throw a party on Mars I am a prisoner locked up behind Xanax bars I have just boarded a plane without a pilot And violets are blue, Roses are red Daisies are yellow, The flowers are dead Wish I can give you this feeling that I feel like buying And if my dealer don’t have no more, then I feel like dying" I feel like dying!!! Yeah-he says he's not afraid to die cause he KNOWS that's what's coming soon! His latest song with Ricky Ross is "pill poppin animal" and I like the song-the lyrics are not sending a good message but I'm an adult & not influenced by words to songs anymore! the hook is "I'm a pill poppin animal (Rick) syrup sippin nigga (Wayne) syrup syrup sippin nigga-I'm so high you couldn't reach me wit a f/kin antenna... Then here's one part: "feelin like a million bucks fillin up a philly blunt feelin on your bitch if you dont like it i dont give a f**k" They're talkin about 5 different drugs in this song that I can count. But KIDS listen to this shit & think it's the thing to do! I feel like he has SO much potential & yeah, he's who he is & he's fron where he's from & people are different & we all come up different... but he's gotta get some HELP or he's gonna DIE that's the bottom line! And he's talkin like he WANTS to die & KNOWS he's about to die!!!!!!! I remember Wayne when he was a little boy comin out with the hot boys. they were hot! Of course, they were the baddest of bad boys back then & couldn't BELIEVE what I heard from 14-16 year old's mouths, but they DID have talent. Wayne's mind's just SO messed up from all the drugs! I hope that he will get that help he needs before it's too late. I guess from the new song, he KNOWS he has a problem cause they do say they're "borderline junkie" IDK... guess we'll all see!

ITA Carribean. It truly makes

ITA Carribean. It truly makes me sad that people praise this man because he's made money, not dead, has fame. Does that truly negate what he is about? No, we aren't to judge, but we are to turn away from poison and literally that is what he is doing to himself and obviously to the minds of our youth. I watch MTV and BET and wonder how my people can be so fooled by the filth and ignorance being spewed. I love hip/hop and I love truth, but glamorizing real life struggle as an angle is just sad and speaks to the lowest common denominator. There are people who have less fame, less money and far less recognition that are right there in New Orleans BUT they are truly the ones who deserve the praise--- I know people who teach there everyday and can give you names. Wayne is talented and I won't take that from him, but he has more potential than product. Half the things he says do NOT make sense. Just because it rhymes and has a catchy hook does not make it good rap or true hip/hop and it is so infuriating to see him touted as GOAT when he rarely spits coherently. What good does him reaching 25 and having money do if his legacy is one of delusional, drug-stuppored and insignificant beyond 150 horrible cameos on songs and a catalog of (sometimes)pure nonsense. He survived the hood only to become a Hollywood cliche...come on that doesn't make any sense. Bob Marley might have been flawed, but he also led a nation and generations to think freely, fight with their minds and spirits instead of guns and violence, and to accept all of humankind as brothers so that love would abound. When Wayne comes up with that message...holla at me. Also, he is a father and to say he doesn't care about the way he lives his life or how he dies is selfish and sad. His kids didn't ask to be here, but now that they are it is his obligation to CARE how he conducts himself. He might not give a bleep about his life but his children surely do.

Dang... this just says so

Dang... this just says so much - about Weezy, about the type of person his die-hard fans tend to be, about New Orleans and about why so many black people are embarassed by African-Americans sometimes. Is this all it takes for you to be proud Lovechild? That he has managed not be a murder victim by the age of 25? I mean, SERIOUSLY? Is this all we expect now? The fact that he is an addle-brained drug addict doesn't bother you? And AS for that ish about wanting to be like Bob Marley and Tupac. Two things: 1)Clearly this man has some kind of morbid death wish - I would actually not be surprised if he is clinically depressed - his comments and the people he is trying to compare himself to (one dead at 25, the other by 36)are strange and morbid - is Weezy telling us he wants to/expects that he will die young? I found that really disturbing. 2)Lyrically, he is not at the standard of Bob or Tupac - I don't think he has it in him either. True, neither Bob nor Tupac were saints during their lives. But lyrically - can't touch him. I ent heard Weezy come up with anything that could touch "emancipate yourselves from mental slavery- none but ourselves can free our minds". Nah.
I couldn't have said it better. I do think that Wayne is talented, but half of the time he literally MAKES NO SENSE. The people who praise him tend to be young, in both body and spirit. He wastes his gift on a gimmick and his life on escapism that is slowly, but surely catching up to him. Bob Marley inspired and continues to inspire generations to be independent thinkers, to take action, to revolutionize the world w/o violence, and to love all mankind. What is Wayne's legacy. He has children and he flaunts his lifestyle and while no one can judge except GOD, the good Lord has asked us to condemn and turn away poison. Wayne is killing himself and from the looks of it he is taking alot of people out there with him. There is more to life than your block, hood, city.... yes, he's made money, but he has no wealth, no real influence (beyond the misguided) and those in mainstream who have used him to make a quick buck and his children suffer while he "lives his life the way he wants to".

Being from New Orleans I am proud that he is at the level he has made it to, because a lot od the young men from here barely make it to the age 25, let alone be a platinum selling rap artist. Go Weezy!!! I got love for the home team!!! We got ya back in the N.O!!!!
Dang... this just says so much - about Weezy, about the type of person his die-hard fans tend to be, about New Orleans and about why so many black people are embarassed by African-Americans sometimes. I'm half-Jamaican and lived there for a number of years- jahknow...Bob was NOT a saint and while his sung lyrics were profound, in interviews him chat baaaaaaad!Completely inarticulate and high. LOL! But lyrically - can't touch him. I ent heard Weezy come up with anything that could touch "emancipate yourselves from mental slavery- none but ourselves can free our minds". Nah.
Let me start off by saying this, You know nothing about New Orleans except what the media wants you to see. I am only saying he is doing something constructive with his life. Yes he does and says things that are off and I disagree with some of it sometimes but my opinion is, I am proud of him because he made it out alive.... I don't expect you to understand because you aren't from where we're from..... And for future reference, dont speak on things you know nothing about i.e. Life In New Orleans! Thanks and have a nice day;)

Lil Wayne will never be a

Lil Wayne will never be a Tupac or Bob...they were lyrical geniuses! In my book, he's not even close in. He may have the ability...but he's damaging his brain with the drugs so I don't think we'll ever know what he's capable of.

Dear Weezy, That 'thing that

Dear Weezy, That 'thing that you're feling that you have to do that you haven't done yet' is...GOING TO REHAB!!!! What is the POINT in ending your life early over some cough syrup??? I think too many rappers get caught up in the whole live fast, die young, leave a good-looking corpse thing. There's nothing good-looking about this kid, so he might as well kiss THAT fantasy goodbye! Go get help for your addiction instead of defending/glamourizing/making excuses for it... What a shameful waste of talent!

C'MON Weezy, its kinda hard

C'MON Weezy, its kinda hard to take you seriously when you KISSED another dude in the mouth. it's cute when you're 2 and kissed your daddy. But since you and Baby are GROWN MEN and Baby is not your real dad. I'm having a hard time to believe that it was just a "MOB" thing. And even if it was just a "MOB" thing and everyone else did it..why haven't i seen a pic of either JUVE or BG kissing you or Baby?? Im just saying.
