Congratulations to Barack

Congratulations to Barack Obama. He as well as Americans have come a long way. I am more than proud of his accomplishments. For those who claim that he's just a dreamer or that his words are meaningless, you have clearly forgotten past American heroes. You are basically saying that the words of Martin Luther King Jr or John F. Kennedy meant nothing. They too were dreamers and their dreams and hopes gave many African-Americans the rights that we now take for granted. As for him bringing about change, he of course cannot do it alone or within a few days. He has said on many occasions that it will take time to create the America that we all long for. He is not GOD and he cannot perform miracles. All the negativity and the hating is doing nothing but making matters worse. What Obama will need more than anything, is the support of ALL the American people. (Or those who are tired of living in a society that is rapidly getting worse.)

I watch the Democratic nominations with much interest here in Australia and on one of our international current affairs programmes, the argument was made that Obama may come across is being "too white" or not "black enough" in the sense that he doesn't speak on racial issues in the way that previous black nominees have i.e Jesse Jackson etc or he lacks the firey rhetoric of the civil rights movement. This was highlighted by other civil rights leaders like Al Sharpton etc. So, with that background, I wanted to ask some real people what their thoughts were on that. Obviously, you lack any constructive thought on the subject.

People just won't give him a

People just won't give him a break. When the whole Rev. Wright scandal came out, everybody wanted to bash him for that. So can you blame the man for leaving the church. Obama is trying to get somewhere and make things happen. That means that he will have to make some very difficult decisions that of course everyone will not agree with. And yes he will have to endure the responsibilities and some backlash for the mess that Bush has created. But somebody has to do it. I'm more than sure that Obama knows the risks and consequences of becoming the president at a time like this. But he cares enough for this country to take the backlash and the slandering. The situation would be no different for Hillary or McCain. People just need to give him a chance. And that's the truth.
