Essence Magazine is featuring the Do Right Men in their upcoming issue. And here are a few of the celebs featured:

The fineness that is Lamman Rucker. And trust me ladies, after spending some time with him this weekend in New Orleans, he's just as hot in person and a sweetheart.

MiMi'scovering the new issue of Elle mag and talks abut how she used to want to be kidnapped just to get away from things when she was going through unhappy times while with Tommy Mottola. And she's also describing in detail her two proposals from her new hubby Nick Cannon: ...One night, while hanging out on the rooftop of her Manhattan apartment, Cannon popped the question with a 17-carat diamond hidden inside a candy ring pop. "They've been calling me Cinderella since I first started out," she says of the fairytale-worthy proposal. "Most people would think, Okay, please! This doesn't happen in real life." A few days later, Carey got her wish – a kidnapping – and a second proposal. "He sort of kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride," she says. "Then he re-proposed."

I'm VERY disappointed in this year's selection. I thought for SURE we'd see a beautiful mix of men. But the dude from House of Payne?! SERIOUSLY?!!! Essence gets a big thumbs down. Only Lamman and Ovie make up for it. And Ovie- the big, beautiful dark chocolate treat he is...needs to fix his front teeth. That threw me off (you can see it in the videos on the Essence.com site). As for Lamman being with Kenya- they were together at last weekend's Essence Music Festival (I just call it "Essence"...in case there was any confusion).

Lamman Rucker, born October

Lamman Rucker, born October 6, 1971 in Pittsburgh. Height: 6'3" (hot damn!) Rucker's mother had a dance company (the Pittsburgh Black Theater Dance Ensemble) and his father was a drummer, so entertaining is in his blood. His first acting role was as Martin Luther King in the 4th grade. He was in the drama club in 7th grade and then attended high school at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C. He has an undergraduate degree in Information Technology and Business and his graduate degree in Education and Curriculum Development. He played basketball in college and semi-pro ball for a short time after that. Mr. Rucker is the oldest of 3 children, having a younger sister and brother. He is currently single, but involved with someone special. When he's not working, he enjoys working out, playing ball, going to the theater and traveling.
