Barack Covers VIBE+Joe Brings The Foolishness+Jazmine Sullivan Busts The Charts

VIBE magazine announces its November 2008 cover today with Barack Obama, marking the first time in history that the leading lifestyle publication has ever formally endorsed a Presidential nominee. In the issue, Editor-in-Chief Danyel Smith writes, "…I am clear about what must be done. The staff is behind me. This is a formal endorsement, by VIBE magazine, of Senator Barack Obama…We built hip hop from nothing to something. We can do anything." This historic collector's edition also marks the second time that VIBE has placed the Senator of Illinois on its cover after being the first music magazine to do so in September 2007. In an unprecedented one-page letter exclusive to VIBE readers, Obama also calls out today's youth, urging them to take a stand and vote for change. He writes, "Dear VIBE Readers…I am running for President to take this country in a new direction. But I can't do it alone. I need you. Whether it's the first time, or the first time in a long time, I need you to register and vote on November 4th." In other political news, I have seriously lost almost all respect for Joe.  Apparently, a while back, Joe was toting the fact that he is not a registered voter. And he had no intentions of doing so. So he hit up the Tom Joyner Morning Show a couple weeks ago and confirmed this. He said he had no good reason he wasn't registered, but he "knows Obama is going to win hands down" and O didn't need his vote. *blank stare* He went on to say he would register only because Tom twisted his arm to, and he thought he could vote online. This is a grown ass man. I'm done. Listen to the audio here. UPDATE: Joe went on the Wendy Williams show last week and said he registered right after the Tom Joyner show and is now recruiting others to do the same. News on Jazmine Sullivan when you read the rest... Congrats to YBF chick Jazmine Sullivan for busting up the charts in with her debut album, last week. Her critically-acclaimed J Records release, FEARLESS, debuts at No. 1, beating out Ne-Yo for the top spot on this week's Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. With a total of 65,539 units sold in the first week, FEARLESS debuts at No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and the Billboard Digital Albums chart. It's safe to say "Bust Your Windows" (one of my fave tracks on the album) is officially her second official single. Her tour with Maxwell kicks off October 8th.

I better see a lot of YBF

I better see a lot of YBF folks when I'm working as an election judge on Nov. 4. For those of us voting help get people registered to vote and make sure they vote. And for those yo know who are undecided are voting for McCain try to convince them to Barack the vote. I went down to the local high schools and register seniors and at my college I help register voters. Plus i plan to carpool those who can't get out to vote. This is our generation people and this election will have a huge impact on us. The great changes of the world happen from the bottom up when we all ban together and demand change. Plus donate to the Obama campaign whatever you can.

The only reason i bought it was because the first song sounded so much like Lauren Hill. No other song on the Albulm brings that vibe. so waste your money![/quote] Wow Tracy, I can't even agree with you, I love it! J-Hud better mind herself cuz Jazzy's a Hot one to look out for. "Lions..." is one of my fave songs on the album! Tracy if you've ever been in the kind of situation she's talkin' about in that song, you wouldn't be making that kind of generalization about it's title. I totally identify with "Fear", "One Night Stand", "Dream Big", shoot...even "Switch", lol. Ya gotta take in lyrics as as appreciate the sounds you're hearing. And um...shame on you for lookin' to Jazmine to give you your "L-Boogie" Fix! If Lauryn ain't carin' much about coming back, why should Jazmine keep her spot warm for her. I'll admit the 1st Singles sounds reminiscent of a tune Lauryn would do for obvious reasons(the reggae sound & video, lyrical content, and her voice!), but it's Jaz's time now(finally!). Clearly they share similar influences(Clark Sisters, anyone? lol). And Honestly I don't think I'd like to hear an entire CD of that 1st single's sound from her.

I met Joe awhile ago and

I met Joe awhile ago and thought that he was a very smart and talented guy. I bought his CD years ago and I did not like the CD with the exception of like 2 songs. But, because I believed in him and his music. However, for Joe to say that he did not vote and said that he did not think his vote would count is RIDICULOUS and down right freakin ignorant!!! How could he say that he think that Barack would win. What the heck, what if Barack was down 1 point and needed that ONE point to WIN? Well, it would be because of Joe's A-- that he did not WIN. African American Men and Women DIED for the right for us to VOTE!Many of them were beaten, attacked by dogs, and disenfranchised by having our votes stolen. Hell, in some parts of this country today, the Rethuglicans are going to do everything to try to steal our votes and the election! Believe that!! Look at how George Bush II got elected TWICE!!The Rethuglicans stole the freakin election! Look, bottom line is this. Who we put in office is critical! It can affect jobs, healthcare, education, housing, and international relations with other countries and how we, as Americans are viewed by other countries. So, Hell No!! I will NEVER, EVER, buy another one of his CD's. Just like Barack Obama needs our support, Joe needs our support if he wants his next CD to be a success. NO, JOE! Not this time!! And, I don't care that you JUST recently voted. Hell, that was because someone had to practically twist your arm to do it. Last, don't forget that idiot, Brian McKnight. He said he does not vote because he is is in a different tax bracket!! WTF? In a different TAX BRACKET? The only reason why he WAS in a different tax bracket was because of our hard earned $$$ lining his pockets. I have not and WILL NEVER, EVER buy another one of Brian McKnight's CD's and suggest many of you do the same. Let him see what is like NOT to have a job, no healthcare, not enough $ to buy gas, and not being able to send kids to a good school. KICK ROCKS JOE AND BRIAN MCKNIGHT. You guys are a DISGRACE!!

And I can't believe that in 2008, that there's people who haven't registered to vote, especially black people after the Civil Rights movement.14th and 15th amendment.I don't know who these people are, but what drives them not be involved in anything.I feel like it's lazyness and ignorant not to know what's going on in the world and not have a voice.I tell anybody who doesn't vote is ignorant. But notice the ones who don't vote are the ones who talk like they have diaherra at the mouth. And for the homeless people, that's extremely sad.But you know they probably have to have a residence to vote.I read the other day they try to take away voter's rights in MI because of foreclosures and those mainly hit the areas of black people.Sign of times!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I must

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I must admit I am a big fan of Joe but when I heard his interview on the TJMS I was taken back a little. However, this is a learning process for all of us! For Joe to announce this in public was the most honest thing a celeb can do. Let's be real here. How many other celebs are thinking the same way that Joe did, but kept their mouth shut? This will not stop me from supporting Joe with the new CD b/c of his lack of knowledge with the voting process. Due to the fact that he openly admitted that he was unaware, and has now become a registered voter. Sometimes the teaching starts at hom or school!!! Some are not lucky enough to have parents, educators, or mentors to teach us this type of thing. With that said if this was "Beyonce" who I am fan of, you all would still support her, so let's not banish this gentleman for breaking a bad cycle in this ignorant world we live in and purchase the CD if you are a fan:-)
