Political Fab: YBF Endorses Barack Obama For President

For the first time ever (ok, we weren't even around for any other Presidential election but whatever), YBF is endorsing a Presidential candidate: And yeah.  We're going with that one. For those of you who aren't tired as hell of this election just yet, there's more when you read the rest... TheYBF.com is officially endorsing Barack Obama for President in this 2008 Election Season.  As for the reasons, I mean, we're not about to give a Colin Powell style dissertation or anything.  Especially when anyone can debate why either candidate is best.  But it's simple.  If you don't change, you die.  And we've been seeing the death of the U.S. economy, U.S. power, and the respect of the U.S. worldwide in recent times.  Eight years of leadership by someone who isn't the brightest crayon in the box and can barely surround himself with those who are will do that. My fellow political science degree holders know the true role of a U.S. President is not to make policy or to develop the best plans for the country, despite popular belief.   It is to properly enforce policies made by Congress, be a trusted, comforting, and motivating leader in the face of trying times, and to be the face of the country to the world around us.  And we believe Senator Obama is the best possible choice who embodies those qualities.  The issues where he is lacking in knowledge, we're confident he can appoint the best person to advise him on that issue. Uniting the country and giving Americans a reason to be confident that their lives are protected on every front are some of the most important issues when revamping and keeping a country strong, powerful, and respected.  Many people don't realize how much those things affect our economy and defense, which in turn affects your everyday life.  And the fact that Sen. Obama could move a record number several millions of people to even give a damn about this election period, especially the 18-35 crowd which is the most overlooked and has the lowest voter turnout, speaks volumes.  It's not about relatability necessarily, but it's about the bigger picture, leadership and confidence.  We're fully aware that both sides have their pluses and minuses, and both play politics.  But what matters to us is change and progress.  And we only see Barack Obama offering those things.  In my lifetime, I can't remember a Presidential candidate giving a damn about the issues of 18-35 year olds--who are indeed the future of this country.  But Barack does.  From him visiting a staggering number of college campuses to targeting areas where young families--both struggling and affluent--live from the start of his campaign are the types of things I noticed.  I didn't see other candidates doing the same. The McCain/Palin ticket is cool and all, but we simply don't believe them.  They need more people.  And all their people remind me of the same--Bush.  Doing things the same way over and over again is called insanity. And we're far from that.  So, we're going with change.  Are you? And let's face it... The Obamas will be the most fabulous First Family the White House has seen in a long minute.  Loves it. Vote November 4th.  And don't forget your Congressmen (the real policy makers) may be up for re-election too.  If you're in an early voting state, vote early.  Let's get it...

Hey Natasha: I really really

Hey Natasha: I really really appreciate your comments on why you are endorsing Obama. It made me my heart smile, or breath a sigh of relief to hear your intelligence in articulating the role of a US president and the solid rationale for why you are voting for him. I'm disheartened at how many in our generation, who are so passionately opinionated about these candidates, have no clue about our political system and who is really running things in Washington. Or where to really lay the blame for the problems we are facing. I observe that much of our opinions are based on unverified emotions and regurgitated arguments from biased media outlets (FOX McCain, and all other networks and media Obama). As of late, many of us have spent hours on the internet thinking critically and checking several sources to investigate and verify statements and character of folk implicated in this Hudson Murder. But have we been so diligent to do the same due diligence when it came down to these candidates? The Hudson's are people, most of us don't even know--whose lives or choices will not affect us--long term. So why wouldn't we spend the same energies to research and base our opinions on a reasonable level of verifiable fact--sources outside mainstream media (like voting record, citizen watch dog groups, and what not). And moreover, can we articulate our position without being so defensive combative--against the opposing side. And finally, if the opposing position has a valid points--acknowledge them and consider them. All that said, I'm not voting for Obama. I'm not a hater or lover of either candidate. I just wanted to tell you that I'm elated to hear the fair things you acknowledged about both sides. And if anyone cares to know why I'm not voting for Obama you may email me at gradylatisha@yahoo.com. I'd love to share, but I won't disrespect Natasha's endorsement by being an opposing view in this setting. I actually was geared up and ready to vote for Obama--btw, so I'm really not a hater. But things caused me to change my mind. Great job Natasha! Latisha Grady Atlanta, GA

take the ish to TMZ maybe,

take the ish to TMZ maybe, but perez i don't think so. he's on our side! i honestly don't mind if people wanted to give me their opinion about who could potentially be a better leader for the country, but it is when they do it with disrespect and bring in petty issues and arguments that pisses me off. one, stop slagging off the fact obama is black. stop. the colour of your skin does not justify what you are capable of. end of discussion. two, how childish is this whole tearing the other man down game that mccain and palin has employed throughout their whole campaign? there is a vast difference with challenging each other on a political level, and just playing high school all over again. the republicans are too old for that, so they should just stop. so, to the person who has so kindly pointed out that we have been stuck up in them democrat butts, thank you but no thank you. we can read without the caps, we're not as stupid as you think we are. and maverick for change? are you sure? i'm all for fair game, both parties can sway me if they give me what they promise to deliver, but come on, you need to wake up and read more political reports if you think mccain is gonna bring change. you got the wrong man. it's obama who will bring change, and i know almost all the readers of this site will agree with me.

You're full of it if you

You're full of it if you think obama is for change. His running mate is a 30+ career politician. Obama distances himself from everyone that he cannot use, from wright to farrakhan, and his socialist approach is definately one that your generation will eventually pay for. 18-35 is considered "bulletproof" so they are ignored because of their disinterest. Kudos to Obama for getting their attention (600 million bucks will do that) because his policies certainly will. Be carefull of what you ask for, you might just get it!

yeah, i gotta go w/ someone

yeah, i gotta go w/ someone else that said let's keep this site light and fun. this is the last place i'm looking to for endorsements of any candidate. i'm also a political science "degree holder" and i can't stand anything more than someone speaking about something unintelligibly. either go hard w/ specifics, detail and real knowledge or leave it alone all together. ybf, yall need more people on that "endorsement".

This is funny to me. Ri Ri is

This is funny to me. Ri Ri is being compared to B. I know you stans are in an uproar. Just because can not believe a publication such as Billboard could compare you precious B to Ri Ri. I guess they do not share your whole B is the greatest in the world theory. Ri Ri is giving your girl a run for her money. Everyone knows that all of B's songs sound the same since Destiny Child days. She has matured. At least Kelly, Michelle, and even her own little sister is explored different style that shows maturity. With B you get the same ol same ol. With Rihanna every other song she put out is a different song from the previous one. She changes her swag all the time. B has seen the explosion which is Ri Ri. Rihanna has gotten endorsements, watched her fan base grow to huge numbers, and watched her versatile songs climb the charts all while she is being the opposite of B. It seems to me that B stans know that Ri Ri has taken over that is why you hate her so much. Ask anyone under the age of 30 who do they prefer and I bet my last dollar they will say Ri Ri. The sad part is that while B fans were growing up B music stayed the same. I like both women and I am not hatin on B it just is what it is. Don't hate me for speaking the truth. Real music lovers know B voice is not that great (it's ok) and her substance is daycare material. Who can blame her for jock jock jockin Ri Ri style! LMOA HAHAHAHAH LMOA!

Please believe McCain has

Please believe McCain has more tricks up his sleeve between now and election day. He despises Obama. He thinks having to run against Obama is beneath him and a waste. He does not want to lose against a black man. He knows that if he loses this election, he will be considered an outcast amongst the conservatives. He will never live it down. I dislike Palin because i KNOW she's a racist. It's been said behind closed doors, she refers to Obama as "coon". Members of the GOP have also verified that she is a separatist. Her current administration is all white. As someone else mentioned, we HAVE TO GET OBAMA ELECTED. I wouldn't want to live in this country under a McCain/Palin administration.
