Besides the birth of my

Besides the birth of my daughter, this definately comes in 2nd place to one of the most proud and memorable days in my life!! I was here, with my daughter to witnes HISTORY!!! Not just for AMERICA but for the WORLD!!! I'm am so truely blessed, my just turned '89' year old grandfather had became ill and it wasn't looking good. I prayed hard that he would make it to see Obama when, he did make it to vote, and he's still kickin. I feel so happy for him to be alive and witness this monumental event for he has seen our black people including himself, having to pick cotton, use seperate facilities, ride on the back of the bus, to not being able to go to certain places due to the color of his skin to TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!! GOD IS GOOD!!!!!!!

Michelle Obama is a strong

Michelle Obama is a strong black woman, Harvard educted and intelligent, and so is Obama. Back in the day they used to say women went to college to get a Mrs. degree, well in this case she did well. We are all happy and proud to have them as our new first family and you can see how the are with each other that neither of them would be where they are if they were with losers. I've always known that it takes a united household to succeed through the challenges that can be put upon us by society, but how many of us can truly say we have a strong black man or strong black woman by our sides. When you take a look at Barack and Michelle, Jay and B, Will and Jada, Holly and Rodney Peet, you see what we can all achieve the American Dream. But it's virtually impossible with a dead weight attached to your leg. We can all do this and we should hold ourselves, our men, and our children accountable for their actions, and their responsibility to family. After all, the white man does not want to see us succeed that's why they separated us when they brought us to this country and "broke" our men, because the man is supposed to be the backbone of the family, but most brothers are more like jellyfish. It's time for a new direction in African American Society, let's all work towards a strong middle class community and beyond that too. One personal recommendation. Mothers' get insurance for your family. It's more important than getting your hair and nails done, but how many of us can say we are insured. It's not enough to just be excited for the next day or two. I hear a lot of brothers saying they finally feel empowered. Well let's not let the tide pass over us, let's get swept away with it and begin a movement for our future generations to come. We as black women need to begin now to hold our brothers to a higher standard. No more shacking up, eating all our food and using up all our electricity (i never allowed that, but i know alot of people do), no more late night booty calls to be left with an unwanted pregnancy or "baby momma status". We will never be a strong people if we cannot be a strong family. Please anyone who supports this post, cut it and paste it around the web and let's begin a viral change right here and right now!!!!!!

Hi Tina, I did not post that

Hi Tina, I did not post that to make you feel bad and I am very happy that you now see the point that most of us are expressing, it just does not come out the right way all the time. I am definitely for all people, I just wish the rest of the world could be the same. I make my opinions based on actions and words. No harm done, I understand what you were trying to convey. And you have every right to rejoice as well.

Tina- Sad to say but no matter how many "valid" points you make boo right now you are "preaching to the choir"! I hear what you are saying, and fully understand what points you are trying to make but "ignorance" is out there as you can see. And "ignorance" can be defined in many different ways. See you tell them to not jump on the defense but you are also on the defensive line also. These people are going to see it their way regardless of how much anybody try to justify the situation. Not all "you people" feel as though McCain/Palin should dig a hole and burry themselves, I too think he made one helluva speach, but I also feel that as an African American I should have this time to rejoice with "my people", celebrate that not only "YES WE CAN" but "YES WE DID"! I have friends from many different backgrounds, last nite we were all together watching the election and when he was announced the next president of the united states ALL MY FRIENDS HUGGED ME AND SAID "its ya time baby enjoy it". African Americans have been pushed to the limit, has always been the underdog, has always had to work 10x's as hard, only to keep getting knock down. This shows us that we have a chance. Now we let a "Republican" run the office for 8 years straight and look what happened? Its time for a Democrat to come in an clean this mess up..and it just so happen that this time ITS A BLACK MAN!! AND DAMN IT IM HAPPY!! CAUSE I KNOW THIS MAN WILL CHANGE THE WORLD FOR THE BETTER. I WOULDA VOTED DEMOCRAT IF IT WAS A WHITE MAN/WOMAN. ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE! BUT FUCK DAT WE JUST CHANGED THE RULES TO THE GAME... "YES WE CAN"..."YES WE DID"
You are right. I am defensive. And I didn't mean to come in here and rain on any of your parade contrary to what some might think. I came in here to congratulate all of you. I will never know what it means to be discriminated against and I will never know what it feels like to go through life having to work harder just to overcome the racial lines. I understand what this day means for you all and others but please everyone, if I know anything, Obama does not stand for hate. And you would never hear him wish McCain was dead or call him the names that some are saying. He won because of his empathy for ALL people and his vision is to see all people united. I will not say anything more. Two things in life you never talk about with others: Politics and religion.I have learned that in this election. LOL I think most of us would get along if we met in person but it is hard to speak through words on a computer. I am truly happy for all of you and I wish you all the best in the future. Tina
Tina I definitely understand where you are coming from and your are right two wrongs don't make a right. But we are humans and when you have someone as ignorant as keep the change spewing such hatred and stereotyping an entire race as we have been our entire lives it is very much a defensive action to respond in the same manner in which someone comes at you. I actually saw the disappointment in McCain's face and I have no hatred for him or Palin, but I could not support their cause. As you stated you cannot possibly understand what we as blacks have endured and what our forefathers endured for us to get to this point. No matter how many Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorates degrees we acquire we have never been able to be on the same level with white America. The truth hurts and it as not been since the Civil Rights movement that we have been able to express such pride as a race because every time we have tried we have been censored. I am not trying to make you feel bad, but please empathize because you can never understand the joy and pride we feel. And you are right Obama is about all people, but I have to wonder if we were not in a recession and people home being in foreclosure, how many die hard republicans would have voted for Obama. My personal opinion is the reason why so many others voted for Barack is that they are now feeling what we as blacks have been enduring for years. We were brought here as nothing but as trade and bartered slaves to be used for whatever the white man wanted to do with us. But look at us now, we have a right to rejoice, and yes it should be done without hateful remarks, but how many have we endured and looked the other way? Just as you are saying not to speak such hatred about McCain please look at some of the other post, where people are speaking nothing but hateful and derogatory words at us because a BLACK MAN has won. The devil cannot steal. So please don't chastise all of us without including all.
There was a part of what you wrote that put a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. When you spoke about your forefathers and obtaining degrees, I had to hang my head in shame. And no one has been able to do that since I was in high school and my mom caught me with a joint. UGGGG!!! She beat me with a belt and I was 16. Sorry back to my point. You have a way with words and I get it. I apoligize to you all. Rejoice and treasure this moment for ever. Take Care, Tina
I am so beyond excited to be

I am so beyond excited to be able to witness this event in my lifetime. I'm still in shock Obama won. Even though he didn't win, I thought McCain gave his best speech ever. To see Jesse Jackson crying it home for me. He was there with Martin Luther King on the civil right marchs to his untimely death just fighting for black people to be treated as equals. To now see a black man in his lifetime become president. This is unreal. This really inspires me to want to do more with my life. The fact Obama can do it I can too. It's no longer an empty statement but that it's real it can happen!!! The rest of the world rejoices with you America.

Did I not prove that I find this a happy occasion also? Stop taking my words as anything other than encouragement. For God's sake stop being defensive. I have read on here people wishing McCain and Palin would die calling them everything in the booK and you bash me why???? Some of you are overshadowing the historical significance of this election by your hate filled comments. Be happy, be proud but respect others. It is a cop out to say that these comments are because you are just so happy. People can be happy and respectful. I have never posted anything on this site that was derogatory or hateful but I have been told to get the hell out because my kind isn't wanted here.Wow, this election has proven that the racial boundaries came down but people on here are still making it about race. It amazes me that you people bash a man who served our country and sacrificed so much and all you can do is wish him dead and show such hate for him all because he ran against "The black Man" Where is the Christians on this site? Why are you "Christians" not putting people in check for the hateful comments? Show your support for Obama but show your support in a positive way. Show your support with love not hate. McCain's concession speech was amazing and very respectful of Obama and only one person on this site acknowledged that almost everyone else spewed hatful comments about him.

I may not have voted for

I may not have voted for Obama but I will tell you that I had tears in my eyes(and not because McCain lost. LOL) but because this country has came so far in the last 50 years. It is so amazing to see this country come together; blacks, whites, hispanic and vote for a man who inspired ALL races. The joy on Obama's face was enough to make any person cry. I am proud to be a citizen of this great country. And I am proud of the unbelievable greatness of our people. This election has instilled hope and pride within a culture that needed it. Anything is possibly with hard work, dedication, and prayer. This election has proven that America is the land of opportunity for All. Please, I ask all of you remember that not only did Obama offer hope to black people but he offered hope to ALL people. When you post comments remember that so many white people voted for him also. To the people who post negatively I hope you can see now that most white people do not hate. They voted for Obama even though he was black. McCain supporters did not vote for McCain because he was white but because we believed in him. It does not change the fact that Obama has brought us all to tears for what he has accomplished. He grew up in an era that racism was strong but he overcame his obsticles to be the President of the United States. I want to say congratulations and I am so very happy for the black communities around the United States. I understand now why this election was so important to you all but also take with you the knowledge that all races and colors came TOGETHER to vote for Barack Obama the President of the United States. One last thing. This is a happy and joyous time for this country please remember when you post comments don't post negative hate filled comments against whites, because this election has proved that the racial boundaries that excisted 50 years ago just got blown to hell. Take care and God Bless President Obama.
