81st Annual Academy Awards: Red Carpet Looks We Love

The 81st Annual Academy Awards are still going on--y'all know they last for an eternity. But the most important part of the night goes down on the red carpet. Neither Taraji nor Viola copped a statue, but they looked fabulous nonetheless. Check out YBF's faves when you read the rest... Taraji P. Henson's Roberto Cavalli gown was ultra feminine and gorgeous. The tiers, the off white color, and train fit her perfectly. So did that insane Fred Leighton diamond necklace. She rocked a red Mary Norton clutch for a punch of red color.  And while I'm mad at her for lifting up this dress to expose her Spanx and ankle tattoo for Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet, she looks so fab I'm letting it slide. Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto rocked a gorgeous blue John Galliano dress with a Judith Leiber clutch: LOVED the movie.  And the beautiful co-stars. Nominee Viola Davis and her hubby hit the red carpet: I actually didn't love Viola's Reem Acra gown at first.  But the more I look at it, the more I'm feeling it.  Gold lame-ish fabric is extra hard to pull off on a red carpet like this.  But the cut of the dress paired with her short curls and silver clutch works for her. John Legend and his girlfriend Christine hit the carpet.   I usually hate brown suits for men but Johnny didn't look half bad.  And Christine looked gorgeous this time around.  Chick has amazing skin... Penelope Cruz always brings out the feminine layers for her red carpet gowns.  This dress was simply stunning, mainly because it's vintage couture, lace print and embellished, and over 60 years old. Pierre Balmain Haute Couture is the design house and it is fabulous.

Wow Taraji is not a pretty

Wow Taraji is not a pretty lady, at all. She has a nice figure, but something about her face. And I usually don't critique anybody's looks. Nice dress though.

Native people born in Spain

Native people born in Spain typically are not considered an Ethnic minority becuase they are not mixed with Indian or African ancestory like Mexicans, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, etc. If Penelope Cruz has a baby by a white man, legally her kids would be considered Caucasian (like Italins, Greeks, Purtugese , etc.). However, if J-Lo had a child by a white man, the kids would still be considered hispanic/latino. Don't confuse the language spoken with the ethnicity. Americans speak english but we are not considered English.

As for what bugs some of us

As for what bugs some of us about Christina (sp?) J. Legend's girl, I think it has something to do with the chipmunk protruding cheekbones. Not hating, and I like nice apple-cheeks (facial ones I am talking about) or high cheekbones or whatever, but something about them, if real, seem a bit off or something. I think it may be that. Ladies look great minorities and majorities. Somethings were a bit off, but kudos to everyone. Yeah, we have a Black Pres. but still have soooo long to go. Majority still rules. White man's land and they can have it. If we desire a piece of the bone they throw, or better yet, piece of what we strive for that we built, go for it.....We will get ours in heaven, cause what little bit we get here will be tainted with stuff. Wanna say something, not hating or whatever, it gets on my nerves, despite how talented or pretty a woman, when people scream oh such and such has such a great body, especially when it has been enhanced surgically with implants or with padding for illusion. I am all for spanx/girdles, enhancing best attributes. It is when people mix God-given assets with purchased ones and then seem to give kudos as if all natural. Gets on my nerves!

Viola looked sooo beautiful

Viola looked sooo beautiful and the dress fit her to perfection! Taraji's dress reminded me too much of cotton! Maybe if it was in a different color it would have looked better! I saw a pic of First Lady Michelle Obama who looked absolutely stunning! She looked much better than most of the actresses at the Oscars! Frieda Pinto's dress was beautiful but it wasn't a good fit! Penelope's dress was beautiful but it clashed with her complexion! John Legend's girlfriend's dress looked good from far but closed up it wasn't that great!!

Taraji deserved to win! However she is still an Oscar-nominated actress which is a great achievement. Both Taraji and Viola looked lovely. Well done all round!!!

So penelope cruz is black and John Legend's girlfriend is black is what your telling me? Oh and Vanessa Hudgens is black too right? rightt! Moving right along then. Again I'll reiterate. Natalie Portman, Kate Winslet and Angelina Jolie looked uber fab. Taraji looked cute I'm on the fence about the dress. Blah@Beyonce.

@Miss GQ I agree with your statement: John did a great job SINGING, and again (his girl annoys me) but she does look good.. ____________________________________________________________ Something about her annoys me too. I just can't put my finger on it. Maybe if I knew more about her. All I see is beauiful model and no substance.

I think the ladies looked

I think the ladies looked lovely, but um Taraji did NOT deserve to win. All she said throughout the entire movie was "baaaaby". It was a typical mammie role remeniscent of early turns in movies and Butterfly McQueen already won the oscar for that one. I was shocked she was nominated and it's really the only movie I saw. But my friends who saw Viola in Doubt said she was amazing and Penelope rocked it out.

I love all the selections you

I love all the selections you guys made here, i agree that they all look splendid, i wish u guys would post a picture of sarah jessica parker cause she looked AWESOME on my tv when she presented. I like how they brought back a lot of puff bottom princess dresses this year, and i noticed a lot of designers played with sheer skirted dresses, nice. I loved the glittery blue curtains on the oscar stage all night. Hugh jackman and all the dancers were great in all their musical numbers, including anne hathaway. And in the previous oscar dress post, i already voiced my opinion about alicias wank wig but otherwise flawlessness, beyonces usual jokey house of dereon dress and out of place musical performance, whoppis look gets no words, and halle and queen latifahs usual thumbs ups so feel free to go read it in detail.

I Agree with YUMS27 partially

I Agree with YUMS27 partially but I while i think these two women deserved the award and also i think the Academy Played ppl by pitting them against eachother in the same catergory, a white girl couldve easily won instead of a Spanish girl. I don't think we were tokens tonight bcus if we were the wouldve had Viola and Taraji in 2 diff catergories and made bth of them win an then what would we be saying?? " They only won bcus Barack did"??? That would be more shifty to me!!

The Oscars is the most boring

The Oscars is the most boring show.. I thought I would see Taraji win. I wish she would have won for goodness sake. How they gonna have her sitting front row and not give her an award. I am a sore loser, and I wouldn't have shown up knowing I wasn't taking Oscar home. Taraji need a powerful role. I am not questioning her acting capabilities but, she play the same person in different movies. She was a great sport and I hope this is a preparation for her future accomplishments.. Good job to her nevertheless.
