*UPDATED* Konvict Rapper Dolla Fatally Shot
In unfortunate news, 21 year old ATL rapper Dolla--who was signed on Akon's Konvict Music label--was shot dead at the Beverly Center mall in L.A. just a couple hours ago. There are no details as to why he was shot or if he was even the actual target, but he was reportedly shot in the head. Sources are saying that Akon is laying low at this time for protective purposes. Crime is really getting out of hand these days. News is now breaking that a suspect has been arrested at an LAX terminal--with a .9 mill gun in his waistband supposedly. Suspect's name is Aubery Berry and was believed to be trying to flee the state directly after the shooting. He's now been taken into custody. Dolla's--who's real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II--most recent single is with Akon and T-Pain called "Who The F*** Is That." Sad and unnecessary. R.I.P. UPDATE: Dolla's publicist, Sue Vannasing, revealed that he had gotten into an altercation earlier with other passengers on a flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles, but it is not known if that's the reason for the shooting. UPDATE 2: In an official statement, Akon expressed his deepest condolences. "Dolla was part of the Konvict Entertainment family and an incredible artist. This is a senseless crime and the industry has lost a real talent. Our heart goes out to his family, friends, and fans".
