Tyler Perry Hearts The Philly Kids

After all that mess with the Philadelphia black and Hispanic kids who were turned away from a private pool even after paying their money, Tyler Perry has stepped in to help them. He's sponsoring a Disney World trip for the 65 Pennsylvania children at the largely minority day-care center after said swim club canceled pool privileges for the children. "He wanted to do something nice for them and let them know that for every negative experience, there are people out there who want them to succeed regardless of the color of their skin," said Keleigh Thomas, Perry's publicist. She added the entertainer would be footing the bill for all transportation, hotel, admissions and food costs at the Florida theme park.

Loves it. Many folks in the black community have issues with Tyler and/or his movies, but cases like this of putting your money where your mouth is should be applauded. By the way, the swim club director is now claiming that he turned the students away simply because of overcrowding and safety. Even though they had already signed contracts and money was paid far in advance. In a statement posted Monday on his Web site, Perry summed up his feelings about the pool situation: "This made me so angry," he wrote. "This is awful, and for anyone that has grown up in the inner-city, you know that one small act of kindness can change your life," he wrote, adding that with the trip to Disney World, "I want them to know that for every act of evil that a few people will throw at you, there are millions more who will do something kind for them. This is all about the kids."

Kontagiousone: Couldn’t

Kontagiousone: Couldn’t have said that better.Who would have thought that a woman would give a young man her intern, none the less, with a funny name a chance to take her out. She could have looked “down on him or snubbed her nose” but she didn’t. Michelle went out with Barack and is now married to the President of the US. Ummm... that fine and all, but he was not an intern he was a summer associate at a major law firm who attended Harvard law school. Summer associates at law firms pull in between 1,000-2,000/ week and often end up with $160,000 job offers. So there is a huge difference between the waiter/ mechanic and Barack Obama. His earning potential was unlimited and his education was top notch, she recognized that.

Many on here worrying about

Many on here worrying about what celebrities are doing to help out others. My question is what are you doing to help out? You talk about what celebrities can afford to give, what can you afford to give? And before any of you question what I do to give I'll let you know. I have been giving on the national scale for the past 8 years. Meaning, I am in the US Army. And yes, I have been to war. I state that because I knw someone will ask that question. Anyway, before we start talking about what someone else can do, lets start with ourselves and see what we can do first. As far as the issues with TP. You can never please everyone. I think his work is great. Most of his characters remind me of ppl I know. Some ghetto, some successfull and others who think they are better than everyone else. As far as his sexuality goes, why should it matter? Just beacause he won't come out and say whether he is straight or gay ppl automatically draw their own conclusions. Just remember its really none of your business.

When I first heard this story

When I first heard this story it really broke my heart, it brought tears to my eyes. Tyler Perry really stepped up on this, I have nothing but respect for that man. As far as people having issues with him, our people always have issues with someone...that's just how we are. We find something negative to point out and try to tear a person down, we'll never be satisfied.

He was a summer associate making 45K while she made like 65K... big difference when you are single with no kids. I think she was in love with President Obama and wanted to marry him later because she loves him, not just because he might turn a profit for their family later. I doubt she was still thinking of his earning potential when they had to live in her parents attic after getting married. Or I doubt she was thinking this when he could not even rent a car to go to the 2000 Democratic Convention back in the day because his credit card was maxxed out. This woman loves her husband simply because she does. Please do not make their marriage seems like some business agreement like the Clintons. How insulting.

I love this random act of kindness that he just did. More power to him! Raising the B.A.Rs baby: I like Tyler Perry! He seems like a genuinely nice guy! As for as issues people may have with him… anything you do you will always have at least one person who will find fault, it’s impossible to please everyone. This was a great gesture for the kids. It’s sad that in this day in age, even with an african american president and first family, this type of nonsense still occurs (smh)

This was not the point of this posting, I was addressing the comparison between barack Obama and mechanics. The earlier conversation was based on successful black women and dating down. I am not questioning Michelle's love of her husband, I dont know her like that and Im assuming none of you do either. I was just drawing a distinction between Barack Obama and the mechanic/ garbage/ whatever. And last time I checked they are of the same caliber which was my point. They have similar backgrounds, similar education, and what not. Barack just chose to serve his community versus pursuing a more lucrative career. However I digress. People will pull from my comments what they choose.

just me: I am first thank

just me: I am first thank God! Im gonna explain it to u, bc I am one who has some issues with him. Im not one of the ones who just hates him but I do question certain things that he does. I will tell you what most people's problem with him is then I will tell you my problem. Most people have an issue with the message that TP sends out, mostly in his TV shows. His shows lack humor and portray a seemingly negative connotaion when it comes to the black image. For instance, his show Meet the Browns is moslty full of coonery. Why? Look just at Mr. Brown himself, he is obviously uneducated and he cant even seem to pronounce everyday words. Some would shrug it off as humor, I and others dont. I have heard some people refer to it as almost a Minstrel show. his television shows (both of them) portray black people in bad lights. People also have problems with Madea. She goes both ways with me, sometimes she is over the top and shines a bad light on black women and sometimes she is tolerable. My main issue with TP is how he fired so many black people (vast majority) from his studio and replaced them with Jewish workers. It is well known that most (not all) jewish writes love to exploit black people, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. It just depends. However, inmy opinion, it isnt working in TP's case. My ultimate question has always been this: I know we love comedy and humor but... should humor be at the expense of our culture, which so many of us are fighting just be equal? Should black people be at the butt of a joke, and a bad one at that, for humor? Hope get (maybe you dont agree and thats fine) why so many people have an issue with him.

Perry has made millions from selling crappy entertainment that is marketed exclusively to African-Americans. If he wanted to, Perry could send every kid in America to Disney World. This is a publicity stunt to help his image. He should have done this quietly, without publicity. I hope the kids don't get kicked out of Disney World for being loud and disrespectful.

How many of these black artist get countless support from our people yet do nothing to help the communities out. or give a little check and think the deeds done. Like Tyler said “One act of kindness can change a persons life”.. I love Tyler Perrys movies BTW. He keeps it real. although theirs mad drama and B.S. (* which alot of us go through) theirs always some positive message in their. I do agree.... it was nice that someone spoke up. I was saddened by this story.

People have issues with the

People have issues with the way that he portrays black people in his movies. He has gotten a lot of flack about the loud stereotypical black people in his movie, and how he always portrays the successful black woman as shallow and how she should date down to find happiness, and there are other issues. (disclaimer: these are not my opinions this is just what I have read and have discussed with other people.)

Also, there was another racist incident regarding the world renowned Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, police arrested him for breaking into his own house.
