The people that have a problem with Beyonce can be easily divided into two categories. Those who are so jealous of her they can almost taste it. She's sings too well, she's too pretty, she's never been accused (with any merit) of being the kind of cold-hearted bitch/ uncompromising diva that most superstars are, as a performer she rivals some of the greatest of our generation, she has too much money, and she is seemingly very happily married. Oh, let's not forget, your man and your daddy would knock an old lady down to get to her. LOL. You HATE her. But most of that category tricks themselves into believing their disdain for her has nothing to do with envy. These are people who use words like "ho", "slut", “bitch”, “dog”, or "satan" in their comments. Yeah, sweetie, keep telling yourself you're not jealous. It's transparent, so you might wanna keep your "opinions" relegated to the anonymous Internet. Because if people hear you talking like that, you'll be exposed. LOL. Then we have those people who have legitimate gripes: She perpetuates the objectification of women with her overtly sexual image. She's overexposed- everywhere you turn, Beyonce, Beyonce, Beyonce. I can't begin to tackle the complex ideas of feminism and gender equality, and whether Beyonce should, as a pop singer, be vilified for displaying her beauty and sexuality. Both of which are ingrained in pop entertainment. All I know is women were viewed as sex objects long before Beyonce and will be long after we're all dead and gone. Let's try looking to our spiritual and political leaders and ourselves for examples of moral strength rather than a POP star. Long before Beyonce, people called Madonna the nastiest, sluttiest ho in history....Sorry, Madonna didn't turn any little girls into freaks- lazy and absent parents did that. Yes, she uses elements of sex very heavily, but c'mon...it could be worse. She could be on drugs, an alcoholic, driving babies around without car seats, leaving the house pantyless, openly singing about thressomes or oral sex- a la Whitney, Britney, Madonna, Janet. Booty shakin' in a leotard? Why isn't this woman in prison?! LMAO! Lastly, if you think she's overexposed, well, that's the world we live in now. Celebrity+the internet+ 10 shows dedicated to Hollywood= overexposure. It is interesting, though, that someone can be so sick of seeing an individual but take time to comment on how annoyed they are by their overexposure. It's asinine. I find it quite wonderful that a black woman has made such an impact on society that she can even be considered overexposed. The next time you're in the market, look at all the magazine covers. How many black women do you see? Watch a few nights' worth of the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards, the Oscars. How many black women are being honored and applauded for their talent? Angelina Jolie is a very talented actress, but I see more of her face than any other human being on the f*&%ing planet because of her marriage to Brad Pitt. I don't hear many people complaining about her overexposure. Imagine if Dorothy Dandridge and Josephine Baker had only been able to live in an era when it's even possible for a black woman to be "overexposed". In this country, better yet this world, where the term, "the first black woman" to do this or that is still in usage, we should be happy for her success. And that kind of logic won't appeal to many people. One might think-, who cares, black, white, purple- the chick needs to give it a rest. And that's fine. But, I ask you this. If you were young and talented and knew there was a time limit on relevance in a world as fickle as entertainment, would you do the most you could to secure your and your family's future? Or would you give it a rest? I come to this blog all the time and never comment because I think it's not that serious or worth the time because after all, it's just entertainment we're talking about, not solving world hunger. But I finally just had to say something.

I think the commercial is just that...a commercial. They happen every 15 minutes or so all day, everyday. Nothing outrageosu about it. Why would a friggin' commercial make you call someone a bitch, ho, dog, or satan worshiper?
