The fact this dude even mentioned Nicki Minaj in the same sentence as Lauryn Hill is bugging me out. Read on for Irv Gotti's latest eyebrow raising quote....

So Irv Gotti chatted it up with VIBE this week about the music scene. And he gave his pinion about ya girl Nicki Minaj. Where'd they find this dude Irv at anyway?:

VIBE: Does Nicki Minaj have what it takes to be a star?

Irv Gotti: The world has yet to see the best of Nicki Minaj. What she's delivering to the world now is basically what they want. But I know that she's a super talented superstar who can do anything at a high level—rap, sing, act, whatever she wants to do. This is just the beginning of Nicki Minaj. Her best is yet to come. In my opinion she is as talented as my other girl Lauryn Hill. They have completely different styles. But as far as the talent is concerned they both can do it all. Nicki just isn't showing it yet 'cause she doesn't want to. But world be prepared 'cause she's the truth!

Nicki "as talented as" L-Boogie? I beg to differ. For many reasons. I typically don't say everything I really feel about certain artists. But sh*t's getting out of hand. Either folks are more delusional than I thought, or dude is trying to tap that in a round-about-way. Either way...boy, STOP.

This is the reason there should be a ban on blogging. The commentator of the blog on this particular subject show the lack of critical thinking, inference, fallocy, logic and common sence. The meaning and intent of Irv's comment was not to compare in a negative sense but to compate same talent of artist levels. Nicki Manaj is just as talented as Lauren Hill. This is what his comment is about. The blogger is definately and intentionally to Irv's comment out of context for all the wrong reasons. Irv clearly stated that the two are different in their approach to music but the delivery of their talent is both the same and they are very, highly talented in their own right. This is why I am beginning to forgo blog sites altogether. The derogatory, negative, insensitive, fallacy, and rhetoric propaganda is really getting out of hand and causes negative public opion and sheer confusion to many reader (those without critical thinking skills); the responses to the initial blog post show the mindset of the masses that frequent and comment this blog site. The blogger completely missed the context of what Irv said and made it very negative and this disgusts me to the core of my moral and ethical values. Nicki Manaj and Laren Hill are equally talented and gifted African Women and to distinguish one above the other is ludicrous and outragous as both deserve our love and appreciation for bring their talents and gifts to light as African contributors to our culture.

Irv is the same person who compared Ashanti to Whitney and Ja Rule to Tupac so before you get butthurt over a blog that states his/her own opinions, ask yourself why Irv would even make a comparison to begin with? Nicki is not doing anything new that Kim, Foxy, Trina, Diamond, Eve, etc have not done already. honestly i sat and gave a bunch of her songs a good hard listen, and i'm convinced that i can write the same level of rhymes she has (granted Drake and Wayne write for her). before she became mainstream and filled with plastic, she was decent as best but she's not good enough to get by on a solid career, so she had to become a gimmick to become popular. she's hip hop's Lady Gaga, and even then Lady Gaga has actual talent and doesn't rely on her sexy appeal to get fans. also, if blog hurt your feels get the fuck off the internet and cry about it in real life.

You know what I realized when I read your comment, everything she was saying is just what Nicki Minaj is. I know that Irv has an opinion, but being a young girl growing up on Lauryn Hill and my mother playing the mess out of her CD I can't agree with him. I actually found it humorous that he even compare the two. My opinion is that Nicki follows the trend of being fake, plastic, and bubble gum to sell while Lauryn Hill went against what was popular and made her own path. Her ONE solo album to this day is still considered hot and is definitely a classic album not only in R&B and Hip Hop but in music history all together. When Nicki makes a classic album like Lauryn and can show her "skills" like what Irv said, then he can bring evidence to prove his opinion.
