Lebron James Makes Nice With Ohio

Lebron James was out having dinner in West Hollywood last night, no doubt still celebrating his move to the Miami Heat. But the move hasn't stopped him from showing love to Ohio. Find out how he sent a personal message to his Ohio fans when you read on...

Despite the negative press thrown his way, LeBron James still has love for Ohio.

James took out a full page newspaper ad in Tuesday's Akron Beacon Journal showing appreciation to his Ohio hometown fans. In the ad, Bron Bron thanks Akron residents for their love and support and calls the city his home and the "central focus" of his life. There was one glaring omission in the ad though...he said nothing about nearby Cleveland, where he played seven seasons for the Cavaliers.

Last month he announced his decision to move on to the Miami Heat, leaving some Cavs fans feeling burned. The ad features photos of James in Akron, including at his annual charity bike-a-thon. This year's event is scheduled for Saturday. According to the Akron Beacon Journal, James will hand out bikes to 400 local kids, then join the mile-long ride in Akron.

James is also getting support from local politicians in the area. When asked about James, Council President Marco Sommerville said:

No matter what his decision was, he's still from Akron, Ohio. He's a hometown person who we need to support.

Listen, I'm from Cleveland and I'm not mad about him leaving. I'm upset on he left. His marketing team sucks ass if they are trying to build his brand. He does this ad like a month after he left. After an old teammate of his took an ad out of the Cleveland Plain Dealer on Sunday. I think he's doing it now because he has to come to Akron this Saturday and he's trying to smooth it over. As with any other city when a star leaves people are mad, but the bulk of the anger comes from the way he chose to leave. #1. His former boss (Dan Gilbert) should not have had to find out on National television like the rest of the country. Even if he called Dan 15 min before to give him a heads up that would have been atleast a little better. #2. People from outside cities don't really understand what Cleveland as well as the state of Ohio has done for this boy from the time he was a high schooler. They went above and beyond for him and this is how you do us. It's not that we think he's our property or own him, but as a city that has handed you everything on a silver platter and stood behind you from day one, you don't do things like that.

Here's my opinion of the LeBron James situation. When you've had a shitty boss and you find a better job...do you give that shitty boss two week notice or any notice at all. Maybe if you want to use the job as a reference. But if your credentials stand up for themselves and you have found employment elsewhere...F your old boss and that job. Yes you might miss you co-works and the place you worked...but in the end you have to do what is best for you. People might not like the way LeBron chose to leave....but I am pretty sure there was a reason behind it. And after the way Dan Gilbert showed his ass....I sure that LeBron felt justified in leaving the way he did. His name is LeBron...not Toby. He did it his way...not Jordan's or Magic's or Barkely's. He's been quiet since he made his decision and will ley his play do the talking for him. And he continues to give back to his hometown. Can't fault him for that.

I understand what you are saying...but I think the only people that were really upset were the Cleveland fans(which was to be expected)...LeBron haters and the sports reporter who needed to have something controversial to take about and are jealous that LeBron can command so much attention and they can't. Oh and the retired NBA player who are just happy that someone is playing attention to them again. It was the media, the Cleveland fans and Dan Gilbert how made a mountain out of a mole hill with this situation.
