Rihanna Gets Fab For Her Afterparty, Clarifies Her New Tattoo

Rihanna performed in NYC at Madison Square Garden last night for her "Last Girl on Earth" tour. Then she stepped out looking fab for her big afterparty at Greenhouse.

Rihanna stepped out of her hotel looking interesting in a black sheer and lace dress, with a gold chain and her fave pair of basic black Louboutin pumps.

Rih stops to talk to a fan. Isn't that the same little girl who tried to stop Usher and Chris Paul earlier this week? Funny.

She's looking pretty cute strolling down the streets of NYC.

In other Rihanna news, her tattoo has caused quite a stir.

Her tattoo reads "Rebelle Fleur" which many people have said is incorrect phrasing because the adjective comes before the noun in the French language. However, Ms. Fenty cleared that up in a text sent to her tattoo artist Keith "Bang Bang" McCurdy.

She wrote:

rebelle fleur translates to rebel flower, NOT rebelious flower, its 2 nouns so in that case fleur does not HAVE to be first! Fyi, cuz they will ask.

Play on words, mistake, statement, it doesn't really matter. Personally, I'm inclined to believe that she's made a mistake but I doubt she's bothered. "Rebelle Fleur" or "Fleur Rebelle", it would still mean "Rebel Fleur" to Rihanna. Though I think it's a bit much for her to claim that the tattoo's correct. I don't speak a word of French but the overwhelming majority of native speakers commenting on this story are saying that she's wrong. I'm inclined to side with the native speakers. Even if the mistake was deliberate, she should have checked the text with a professional translation agency first. You need to know and understand the rules before you can break them.

Google translate always botches up the grammar. I speak another language and my friends always try using google translate to 'impress' me or something but mostly only translates the words correctly. The grammar is almost always messed up.

Just want to throw in my 2 cents. The tattoo is TECHNICALLY correct. Rebelle fleur read AS IS means rebel flower. But others are also right b/c when you put in in context or in as sentence, it changes to fleur rebelle. Of course french people would never say it like that but what does it matter b/c she is not french. It is technically right. just like faire l'epicerie in french means to go to the grocery store but the literal translation is to make groceries. Who knows but her what context she meant it in. Really it is a non issue. It is not our skin!

I am a black French Canadian. Born and raised in Quebec.....THE TATTOO IS WRONG!!!!! Done, done and done. No other way to put it. Its like saying "toplap" instead on "laptop". Fleur Rebelle= Rebellious Flower....which makes perfect sense in the English/Frecnch language...(more english though). Rebelle fleur= RUBBISH!!!!!! LOL. Does anyone walk around calling themselves a "rebel flower"? Anyone with an inch of common sense would realize that.
