Chris Paul and girlfriend Jada Crawley have been on on-again, off-again couple status since their college days. And, according to his friend Teyana Taylor, he just dropped to his knee and proposed to Jada. Teyana tweeted:

Congrats to my homie Chris Paul he just proposed to his lovely baby mother Jada !!! :) congrats bro & jada! So happy for y'all!!”

Sweet. Chris and Jada have a 1 year old son named Christopher Emmanuel Paul II. Looks like Chris Jr. gave daddy more reason to marry mommy. Congrats to the couple!

This out of wedlock birth business is a pathology in the black community. 70% of black children born into single headed households and they are suffering as a result. We should not celebrate, explain away, or ignore this problem as I too often see on this board. Folks have got to aspire to and work towards stronger, more constructive stable unions that provide the homes our children deserve and need to be successful in this world. We must stop settling for mediocrity and dysfunction and this is one of the key areas where we need to step up.

i typically hear a woman

i typically hear a woman referred to as a "baby momma" when they have no other relationship to the father of the child besides being his child's mother. the term carries a slight stigma because it implies a woman has a baby outside the confines of a continuing emotional/committed relationship with the father. if the man and woman are in a relationship (trying to make a relationship work), but are not married, and they have a child, isn't it more accurate and appropriate to call the woman a "girlfriend" or "significant other"? i'm not saying natasha pruposely tried to throw shade at chris' girl, but i have noticed as of late that some comments she and her associates make are a little snarky and mischaracterize the situation.
