ON THE SET: New YBF Chick Tika Sumpter Films Scenes For "Gossip Girl"

New cast member Tika Sumpter was spotted filming scenes for "Gossip Girl". That show finally has some color on it....with speaking parts. We have pics for you inside...

As we reported earlier, actress Tika Sumpter has joined the cast of "Gossip Girl" where she will play the role of Raina, the smart and savvy daughter of Russell Thorpe, played by Michael Boatman, a powerful business tycoon.

Tika went on recurring status for her previous full time gig as Layla on the daytime soap "One Life To Live" so that she could take on this new role:

Tika was spotted filming scenes with co-star Chace Crawford in NYC.

She looks cute, but hopefully her clothes get more fab as the rest of the cast usually looks fly to death. "Gossip Girl" returns January 24th on the CW. Woot!

Yep! she was only Guest

Yep! she was only Guest support character in last season 4 of gossip girl show. She is gorgeous lady! and i want that she become a permanent cast of this brilliant teen drama. but she get vanish after her appearance. I am now enjoying it's season 5. which is going awesome. As within the starting episode of new season 5, Blair surprised me due to her pregnancy. I hope you all enjoying gossip girl episodes. but if you still not then should start watch it's season 5.

Thank God! She appear in Gossip girl episodes as a guest cast. I don't like her. She is not looking so cute and i don't think is perfect cast for Gossip girl like tv show.

No she is on recurring status

No she is on recurring status on ONE Life to Live. She will show up from time to time on the show but she will not be on contract there for "full time". With that said I am glad she got a more high profile role on a TV show. I always thoughts she was a pretty dark skin sister. With that said I didn't like what One Life to Live did to Renee Elise Goldsberry ( the other sister who used to be on One Life to Live as Evangeline). They never renewed her contract when it came time for negotiations and she was a relatively popular character on the show. Since then I haven't watched One Life to Live regularly.

FYI YBF: Jessica Szohr

FYI YBF: Jessica Szohr (Vanessa on Gossip Girl) is part African-American and has been apart of Gossip Girl since season one. Laurence Fishbourne's wife Gina Torres has played Jessica's mother on the show to show that she is African-American. It's also noted in the Gossip Girl books that the character, Vanessa is black. With that said, this makes Tika, the second full time African-American. Props to her. It seems all the young females from OLTL end up with a part of Gossip Girl in one way or another.

I think Tika is veryyyyyy pretty.... I mean she is very easy on the eyes type of pretty.... Her skin is very pretty... I'm glad that they went with a brown skinned black women instead of the usual light skin look.... As a light skinned woman I think its important to show black women come in more beautiful shades then just high yellow... Just because your light with long hair doesn't mean you have a pretty face (*side eye keri hillson*)...... So go Tika!!!
