ROYAL NEWS: Kate Middleton Dons SARAH BURTON For ALEXANDER MCQUEEN For Royal Wedding!

We interrupt YBF news for a Royal break! The Royal Wedding of the century is going down as we speak at the Westminster Abbey in London. And Princess Catherine (Kate) Middleton--now the Duchess of Cambridge--just gave everyone a fashion eyegasm in a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding gown.

The stunning pics and details when you read on....

There's hardly any YBF faces on the Royal Wedding guest list of Kate & Prince William--but a bit of coverage for you fashion die-hards is indeed necessary for this occasion.

Her sister Pippa arrived this morning in a beautiful long cream gown to tend to her Lady in Waiting duties for Kate as she stepped out of the Rolls Royce Phantom. Sarah Burton--designer for the house of late British designer Alexander McQueen--is the lucky designer to have her piece walk down the aisle of the Westminster Abbey. Kate's shoes were also custom McQueen.

Kate's gown is ivory with a Grace Kellyesque long full skirt, and the top is a fitted bodice with long French Chantilly lace sleeves atop a semi-sweetheart neckline strapless bodice. The 'halo' tiara is pure diamonds and has been loaned to Kate by the Queen, who was given it by Cartier in the 1930's. It was originally given to the Queen Mum by King George VI and presented to Queen Elizabeth when she was 18.

And speaking of diamonds, she rocked pear-shaped diamond earrings designed by Robinson Pelham.

Reportedly, the gown was made with Individual flowers hand-cut from lace and hand-engineered onto ivory silk tulle. A modest train and cathedral length veil indeed work for the occasion. And on her nails, she's reportedly wearing Essie's ALLURE. Kate looks every bit the regal future Queen of England. Gorgeous!

Vicki B. rocked one of her own autumn/winter creations in Navy, specially altered to take account of her baby bump. Black sky-high pumps and a Philip Treacy hat topped off her Royal look. While hubby David looked yummy as usual in a full Ralph Lauren suit. Nice!

SIDENOTES: How hot is Kate's brother?! Wouldn't you be pissy if you scored an invite to the Royal Wedding--but had to sit behind one of these English women with an obnoxiously big hat blocking your view like you're back home at your own Baptist church?? Wouldn't you pay money to hear the smart ass comments the Queen is definitely making under her breath during the ceremony? And how much do we LOVE the fact William and Kate look genuinely and eeffortlessly fun and happy--not like most Royal couples?

It was nice to see something

It was nice to see something positive in the news--because for the last few years, it's been about natural disasters, bad economy and crazy people going on shooting sprees. This is something that is actually uplifting and beautiful. I loved watching the whole thing and Kate's dress was just perfect. I read a while ago, a serious new piece about the problems of Kate Middleton being a commoner and what implications this would have for her engagement. Commoner. Seriously? I don’t know about you, but when you use the term ‘commoner’ with someone, it is rarely a praise. But this is what we all are in Britain, commoners, peasents, peons, people divided by a blood-based caste system into un-breachable layers of state-granted privilege. This is an idea that should be repugnant to any liberty-loving enlightened person living in the 21st century. Are people outraged? Are they fuck? Yay! Excitement! A big royal wedding and lots of goss! They’re good for the tourism don’t you know? After all, they don’t have any power anyhow. I’ve heard the arguments above in real life (the most prominent being the tourism and “no real power”) ones. Most people don’t care that there’s a royal family. I don’t get it. This teaches me two things. Most people don’t want freedom. Community, a sense of belonging, leaders or gods to follow and worship. People care more about these things than the abstract concept of liberty and freedom. Most people wouldn’t know a serious philosophical idea if it bit them on the arse. It’s rare to meet someone who is acquainted with the meaning of political terms, a knowledge of thought systems and logical fallacies. The overarching ideas of the affront to democracy and republicanism, the use of constitutions, these things are not considered when people think about royalty. The aforementioned tourism argument is an example of this, if a person considers this to be a valid point, then they’ve got their priorities mixed up a little bit on my opinion. By Arguseyes

You people could have done a simple internet check instead of claiming not black people were invited. Royals from Lesotho, Swaziland, Tonga and Morocco were invited, as well as several Governor Generals from the Commonwealth, who are black including from Jamaica, St Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts, St Vincent .... Sayitnow - You are so right on. I got up early also to watch and my husband watched also as he was getting ready for work. We were watching history and there is nothing wrong with that. The wedding was beautiful the bridal party was beautiful and there were black people at the wedding. I along with anyone else paying attention saw them as well. The mainstream news media may not be showing them but they were there. I loved her dress. I wished more brides dressed like her. Pretty and modest. Also all the white the bridesmaids wore was beautiful as well.

I loved every minute of the royal wedding coverage! I even got my husband to wake up and watch it with me. YEAH he tried to act like he didnt want to watch at first but he got into too LOL ESPECIALLY after I made some banana pancakes and turkey bacon. :) My husband and I enjoyed a special time in history together courtesy of the royal family!

Thanks YBF for posting it. Loved it! Just because you watched it doesn't mean anything. Sometimes with all the foolishness in the world you want a little escapism. That said... Dress: I knew she was going to pick Sarah Burton. SB did a damn fine job on that dress. Very Grace Kelly like. I hope this means that more brides will go for sleeves or something because I'm tired of the strapless/sleeveless poofy dresses. I know at one or two of y'all have been to wedding and been underwhelmed by a boring dress. (or blinded by back fat) Step outside the box a little. Hats: It looked like a Baptist church. I loved them all. Very creative. Prince William and Harry looked handsome in their uniforms. Prince Harry does seem to have a little swag to him :)
