MOVIE FAB: Original Cast Returning For "Waiting To Exhale" Sequel! + The First Official "Charlie's Angels" Photo

Angela Bassett's latest movie Jumping The Broom is in theaters today, and now we can tell you something about her next project, Waiting To Exhale...the sequel! Also, see the first official photo of the new Charlie's Angels. Deets inside.....

While on the red carpet promoting Jumping The Broom, Angela Bassett talked about her next project, a sequel to Waiting To Exhale. The actress confirmed that in the sequel, "Getting to Happy," Whitney Houston, Loretta Devine, and Lela Rochon will all reprise their roles.

She said,

"[Terry McMillian] wrote 'Getting to Happy' and she's written the screenplay." The she added that "Loretta, Lela, [and] Whitney," are all on-board.

She also confirmed that Forest Whitaker will return as director. But Waiting To Exhale isn't the only great Black film returning to the movies. You will soon see remakes of Juice and Sparkle on the big screen as well.

Also......

We have the first official photo of "Charlie's Angels" starring YBF chick Annie Ilonzeh. The ABC one-hour drama will also star Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor.

The plot is set in Miami and Alfred Gough and Miles Millar wrote the script and are executive producing with Drew Barrymore. Can't wait for this one. It's supposedly set to air this summer. But the official airdate will be announced the week of May 16th.

I will support the Waiting to

I will support the Waiting to Exhale Sequel but...Why Lord WHY are they trying to remake my movie Sparkle? I was on board for the remake years ago when Aaliyah was going to play Sparkle but I'm not feelin any kind of remake being done, especially not no half assed version where they will probably just try to fill the cast with current popular artists, but I can't think of any YOUNG celebs that I could see in the roles of the sisters. I think they should do a talent search to cast the sisters and add famous celebs to play the mother and Satin Struthers. I can think of a couple of actors I would love to see play Sticks. Still... Some movies just don't need to be remade. They have been talking about remaking The Last Dragon for years as well which is one of my other faves! I guess it is too much to ask for originality from Hollywood.

Getting to Happy as a film...

Getting to Happy as a film... really??? Has anyone tried to read that book? It is the worse piece of fiction I've ever tried to get through. As a matter of fact, I can't get through the slow moving, uncreative, one-dimensional novel. I pick it up and suffer through a few pages, then I have to put it down. Maybe I'll watch the movie just to see how this thing ends because I don't think I'll get there in the book

I figured 'Getting to Happy' would be hitting the screens. Glad Terry was able to pull the original cast - that sounds exciting. Unfortunately them remaking Juice and Sparkles -- not sure about that. I think some movies should be left alone are directors really running out of material so much that they need to touch originals??

I love Sparkle!! I'm starting to check out all the movies from back in the day and it seems funny to me that in the 70's there were so many Black films (at a time where things were a whole lot racist, from what I've heard) , but today we might get a few a year. So much for that post-racial mess everyone keeps talking about. Sidebar: NO JUICE. Nobody wants that. Next thing you know they'll be remaking "Boyz n the Hood" and "Fresh".
