What We (And Celebs) LOVE About Oprah Winfrey: The Last Five Years

Today, Oprah Winfrey airs the last episode of her hit-syndicated talk show and she will be missed by millions of fans.

Some of her celebrity fans/friends have been speaking out about what she means to them and we have their tweets along with deets about the final show (semi-spoilers included so enter at your own risk) inside.....

She may be a billion dollar woman, but she knows what's really important in life.  The last five years, Oprah has focused on education and the upliftment of those who truly believe education in all areas of life is key.  Through scholarships, her school in South Africa, her magazine and now her OWN channel, everything she does has the intention of teaching.

According to CNN, Oprah Winfrey's final show will feature an intimate conversation between she and her audience.  With old show clips and segments playing as she spoke, Oprah told the audience,

" This last hour is about me saying thank you, it is my love letter to you. I want to leave you all with the lessons that is the anchor of my life. Everyday that I stood here I knew that this was exactly where I was supposed to be. There was many a day I came to work tired, but I showed up because I knew that you were waiting, you were waiting for whatever we had to offer. That’s why I never missed a day in 25 years."

And when speaking about what she hopes everyone has learned from the show, she said:

"(Know)what sparks the light in you so that you in your own way can illuminate the world. I didn’t even imagine that the show would have the depth and the reach that (it has now). ... Wherever you are, that’s your stage, your circle of influence. That’s your talk show, that’s where your power lies. … You have the power to change somebody’s life. Everyone has a calling, and your real job in life is to figure out what that is and get about the business of doing it."

And here's what some celebrities have tweeted about Oprah recently:

Mariah Carey: "Thank u Oprah for inspiring, educating & most importantly giving so many the power to dream & have hope these past 25 yrs! Love & God bless."

Joan Rivers: "Oprah Winfrey is so powerful that she had the Rapture postponed until after her final show airs tomorrow."

Will.i.am: "I’m going to miss the oprah winfrey show... Thank you so much for making feel apart of the harpo family... I love you oprah."

Kristin Chenoweth: "Best night of my life. Sang for Oprah!!!"

Josh Groban: "Took a covert trip to Chicago to surprise @Oprah on her big finale concert. Such an honor! Just landed in San Antonio for concert tomorrow!"

Conan O’Brien: "Oprah has revealed who the guest will be on her final show and it’s not me. P.S. Congrats to whoever 'Will Smith' is,"

Yoko Ono: "She is "one of the strongest women around."

Tyrese Gibson: "I have never witnessed anyone be honored on this level EVER!! @Oprah you are beyond amazing!! Great job team @Harpo Wow!! Wow!! Wow!!"

Shanice--I'm soooo sad that @Oprah's show is over..

Sissy Spacek: "I'm gonna miss Oprah," "She's like a girlfriend that we get to have tea with in the afternoon. I'm happy about her network, and I'm happy that she's gonna be able to do different things, but I'm sad for us."

Jada Pinkett Smith: "What a truly amazing night! @oprah Be sure to tune in and share the moment."

So, oh fab ones.  As we bid adieu, what has Lady O meant to you?

how pathetic she is. she was

how pathetic she is. she was entrusted with the resources to educate and uplift her blk american community. she didn't even do much to help blk chicago. while blk chicago children have no decent school, she builds a school in africa to be politically correct with george bush. she could have created millions of jobs in america, but she did very little with all those resources that should be used to pay reparations to blk america who are so in need, and perishing on the streets of urban america without adequate educ, food, mired in drug abuse and ignorance.

Mr. Big Money Grip, don't be

Mr. Big Money Grip, don't be mad because she made something of herself (which is a Billionaire) & you're probably a grown azz man living in you girldfriend's section 8 apartment. Hate is a strong word. Usually when someone uses that word, when they look in the mirror at themselves they see someone they want to be. I won't wish anything bad on you like you did Oprah, but beware Karma is a BITCH. Last but not least, you're just a plain idiot, but you give someone else the luxury of being useful. One were probably a guess on the show or someone from broke family looking for a hand out & Oprah refused. so now you mad. HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! F***ER.

There are no words to express what her presence has meant to me over the years. My heart hurts when I agree...she was like an "auntie" and she will be truly missed.

I realize yesterday, that

I realize yesterday, that Oprah is a true ICON because she touches people hearts. She has always encouraged higher education and when all those beautiful black men from Morehouse appeared on stage because Oprah had financially helped them achieve their dreams, that is phenomenal woman.

Oprah means a lot to me. IM A

Oprah means a lot to me. IM A MALE. i started watching Oprah because we only had one tv and in the afternoons i had to sit through Oprah in order to watch my cartoons. What my mom didnt know was that I was loving every minute of it. I record Oprah to this day. I have the last 25 shows on my dvr. I cried at least twice last week watching memorable moments. From the lady who had face reconstruction to the lady from Africa who is now a doctoral candidate. Oprah has inspired me to be my best. Be a better man, brother, uncle, HUMAN. When you Know better, you do better. Always sticks in my mind. I joined a Book Club because of Oprah. I volunteer because of Oprah. I sit and enjoy those moments that I need to because of her. I can go on..... I will be tuning in to OWN

I know there will never be

I know there will never be another Oprah (Never, Tyra!), and I know that Oprah has her OWN network; but I'm saddened that this generation of young black folks won't have that type of presence in their life. Everyone from my generation and the next knows who Oprah is and what she means. Who will fill the void?

While her show has definitely

While her show has definitely been a part of my life and I will miss it, this is not the end of Oprah. Oprah will still be as influential as she was before, only now she won't be giving us 5 days of herself on a TV talk show. So let's not act as if the woman is being funeralized, but bask in her accomplishment of surviving on air for 25 years and giving such inspiration and hope to others. Great job Oprah .. continue in your efforts!
