RUMOR CONTROL: Tawanna Iverson Says Cheating Ain't The Issue

Apparently rumors were flying that Tawanna Iverson filed for divorce this past week...for a second time...from her baller hubby Allen because he was caught with a mistress. But Tawanna says that's not the case. Deets inside....

Tawanna filed for divorce the first time back in March 2010. And she cited the marriage was "irretrievably broken". She cited the exact same thing in her dvorce papers she just filed again last week.

Rumors flew that she caught Allen with another woman and a mistress broke up their marriage. Given, Allen isn't known to be the most faithfu husband in the NBA. But if that was the real reason--Tawanna would have divorced him a long time ago.

Instead, his wife of 10 years told TMZ that she and Allen simply grew apart.

"Cheating in the marriage has never been an issue. My decision to divorce has nothing to do with another woman...Sometimes people just grow apart and it's just that simple...Many people want this to be more complicated than that and it's not."

So there you have it. Tawanna's asking for sole custody of their kids and half his money and assets. Here we go...

One thing you can say about

One thing you can say about Tawanna is she has always kept their business out of the media. I would like to think she is one of the classier NBA wives and wouldn't stoop to the nonsense that is Basketball Wives. She may have put up with a lot of sh#t over the course of their marriage, but anything you know about them has come from rumors, blogs and "sources"--never from her directly. Keep it classy, Tawanna for the sake of your children and women everywhere.

It makes me laugh when people say marriage is not how it use to be. The only thing that has changed is now women do not have to stay in a marriage, when they are being mistreated. What I don't get is why CHEATING WASN'T THE ISSUE. You mean to tell me that having all the benefits of the "baller" lifestyle is fine even when your husband is slinging his joint into other women's fish holes. Really? Women, let go of your money obsessions and get some self-esteem. If you have children, you have to think about how your actions look to your children (this goes for both parties in the marriage). Do you think seeing daddy partying, f*cking random women, and disrespecting mom is a good look for a child? If mama is cheating, is that a good look? No wonder this generation's take on marriage is hella negative. All over some d*mn material possessions that are here today and gone tomorrow? If you don't think this scenario doesn't play out with white women every day, may I suggest you get a bit more educated. White women play more games than most, but they know how to be slick with their ish. I don't think she decided one day out the blue that they grew apart. It was probably simmering many years, but the decision to divorce is a big step. Your summation about "this is is why men don't get married or marry white women." if fallacious too. Most black men marry black woman. Secondly, men don't get married for a myriad of reasons, one of which is woman put up with their b.s., such as cheating. They shack up with said men (obviously not in Tawanna's case), and give him all the benefits of having a wife. That's why many of them don't get married. Why should they when dumb broads make it easier for them to keep that ring off.

For the record, Allen Iverson is broke, flat broke. He didn't last long playing overseas and he has no income. Add that to the massive debt to casinos and other businesses and you can see why the divorce is happening now. Here is the thing with truck drivers, offshore workers, athletes, or any job that takes you away from home for long periods of time: Wives of these people get used to them not being there most of the time. They get used to having two separate lives. They get all the benefits of being married. They get the money and the tax breaks but don't have to deal with a husband full time. Iverson was forced to retire and he is broke. That spells a recipe for a divorce. His wife no longer gets her single life. Don't believe me ask a few truck drivers or offshore workers what happened when they had to stay home. What happened to Jordan's marriage after he retired.? These wives are used to the their husbands cheating. Hell, when their husbands hit the road they might have their own lovers. What they are not used to is their husbands being home all the damn time getting on their nerves and in their business. Now if he comes home full time and is broke, it is a wrap for sure.

Please don't look at defective couples as an outlook at what marriage is about. Focus on the good, loving, wonderful marriages that exist today. They exist! Look at Grant Hill and Tamia, Reagan Gomez and her hubby, Dwayne. Look at Flex and Shanice (they've celebrated 11 years of marriage on February 14, 2011, Tia and Cory, Denzel and Pauletta (or whatever her name is), or find someone in your community that is happily married. There are plenty. GOOD marriages are a beautiful!
