Did L.A. Reid Say He Only Wants To Work With Good Looking People At Epic Records?

In an effort to "keep it sexy" insiders joke that L.A. Reid only wants good looking people working in his office at Epic Records. Get the deets inside....

With the premiere of "X-Factor" set to make him a household name, L.A. Reid has taken over Epic Records as CEO, but his arrival didn't come without a list of demands.

A source told the NY Post that L.A. said to a group of label executives, "I don't want no ugly people working here; I only want good-looking people."

While the execs hoped the meeting would be about the label's music artists like Usher and Ciara, they found L.A. using the meeting to focus on "appearances."

"Reid's thing is keeping it sexy," another source said. And one industry vet told the Post,

"He considers himself an artist, which means he expects to be treated like a VIP. He's incredibly difficult, and many people are worried about what will happen when he starts on the judging panel for 'The X Factor.' "

Some say L.A.'s penchant for good looks is what led him to drop Lady GaGa from Island Def Jam back in the day. He allegedly told her, "I don't get you, I don't get your music," and that he didn't think she was good-looking.

Ouch. We'll we see how that turned out. Hopefully he will be a better "judge" of talent on "X-Factor" when it starts on Sept. 21.

A rep for L.A. Reid declined comment.

Although it's human nature, we are actually supposed to be pure of heart enough to judge and weigh the heart and the anointing, and to subsequently realize that everyone is wonderfully and fearfully created in the image of God. I don't know if this is true or not, but I wouldn't doubt it. I remember an interview with Pink years ago where he tried to get on her for not looking or sounding like Britney Spears. And hell, years later Pink has sold millions and her greatest hits is top 5 selling this year. He is not the brightest ship in the shed when it comes to artists.
