LL Cool J & Simone Smith Raise $100K For Cancer Research + DMX Reveals His ABUSIVE Childhood & Why He Spanks His 10 Kids

Last weekend, LL Cool J joined his wife Simone Smith and their daughter Italia Smith to raise over $100K for cancer research. Get the deets on the event inside and hear what DMX revealed about his abusive childhood.

Last night, the very dapper rapper LL Cool J hosted a special charity event entitled “Why Fashion Matters” to benefit the American Cancer Society and Long Island Cares over the weekend at Hirshleifers in Manhasset, LI.

LL served as auctioneer and co-hosted the event with his beautiful wife, jewelry designer Simone Smith.

The event held a special place in their hearts as Simone is a cancer survivor. And at the end of the evening, proceeds raised totaled over $100,000 dollars!

In other rap news.....

DMX appeared on "Dr. Drew's Lifechangers" yesterday where he opend up about being abused as a child by his mother.

"It got pretty bad…there was plenty of days I couldn't sit down at school. She used to have these three extension chords that she braided together. Sometimes we would get it with that. THAT was rough!"

DMX, who's fathered 10 children, also revealed that he does indeed discipline his own kids with a belt.

"You don't really have to beat them. That one time…smack them on the a__ with a belt a couple of times and they'll get the point. It was not continual beating. Anybody you've got to beat over and over again, evidently it's not working."

He continued,

"Yeah. That's why I talk to my kids first. I sit them down and explain to them what they did wrong. If I see that they are genuinely remorseful about the situation, then I'll let it go."

Yea, stupid fools, i am up for spanking, i have to kids and they are checked anytime they get it wrong. Stupid youths in the UK recently took everybody hostage and not even the police could control them. How did that start? Kids in the UK are not to be beaten when they get it and when a parent checks a kids the possibilities are that the social services will come in to ask you all sorts of silly questions. Listen, I didn't get hit alot but when I got out of line especially as a teenager I got popped, my mother wasn't trying to kill me there were no extension cords or branches. When you get out of line with your mom or dad there's consequences maybe punishment or even a spanking. My mom did no wrong and today she call tell everyone that her black daughter has a master's degree today. I knew when I was doing good I would be rewarded and when I was bad I would be punished. I guess it also depends on the child, I wasn't hit alot because I knew what would happen if and when I got out of line. It's no dream of mine to beat my kids if and when I have any I don't think any parent wishes for that but some children need different disciplinary measures. But this is just my opinion. Out

I dont know anything about LL

I dont know anything about LL Cool and his wife's relationship but I do know she had cancer. I saw her and him many times at Memorial Sloan Kettering three years ago when my niece (also a survivor) received treatment there. He was always polite and would nod hello. We were all the same at Sloan.......giving our loved one support and care. God bless his wife and their family.

I think that spanking, like

I think that spanking, like many things should be the choice of the individual but I fully believe that it's fine as long as one doesn't go too far. I use it as a last resort when talking, reasoning and other tactics don't work and see nothing wrong with it. I got my butt whooped when I was a kid and I am not in any way damaged because of it.

It's good that LL learned to finally love and respect his wife after having ran around on her many,many years with tramp after tramp in Hollywood and I hope he feels very fortunate that she didn't divorce him and bail out altogether and find her another man to love and appreciate her for the woman she is. I can't believe that DMX was able to convince his ex-wife Tashera so many times during their marriage that all those paternity suits were lies and just jealous women out to get his money and ruin his career. So glad she didn't spend her whole life waiting for him to get better and kick his addiction to crack and women! I also would like to agree with some others who said they "DO NOT" agree with physically punishing children, because I was never spanked as a child, I had a pretty easy going personality and I was a very mild mannered child so if I was told to do something by an authority figure I just went along and did what I was told no pouting or back talking either, but I do understand not all children are like that, because I have a sister that wasn't agreeable and most times she was out of control and down right disobedient which usually resulted in an ass whipping. However; looking back on our rearing as an adult I know now that there were other tactics that could have been used for dealing with an impulsive child and they should have all been considered before a belt,slap or hit.

I believe children should be disciplined. That involves talking to children, reasoning with them on the issue, where both sides are heard and reaching the heart so the child can learn to discern right from wrong. Discipline also involves setting restrictions, time outs and sometimes spanking.

Corporal punishment is wrong! AND I don't have children. But guess what? I was one. I learned a few things from them too. First of all, they are WRONG! 2nd, be more sneaky. 3rd, how to become angry and frustrated and lash out. 4th, I hate you belt wielder. And will likley try to kill you in your sleep. Love LL and his family. May they continue to be blessed. As for DMX all this criticism anybody that knows this mans story knows he's been through and back even before he really reached adolescence so it's just a miracle that he's even alive. Yes the drug abuse and his issues have gotten out of control over the years but lets not condemn him and support him and his strive to move forward. As far as the 10 kids lord have mercy. I knew him and his ex had 5 together and he had 1 while they were married and 1 after they broke up I guess when did he have the chance to have 3 more smh. The one good thing I will say despite him and his ex relationship you will always say he's my best friend and I've been through hell and back with him and I KNOW what he's been through and I only pray that we can find that friendship we had in the past once he gets himself together.
