Details Revealed About Heavy D's "Invite-Only" & Public Memorial Services

The family of Hip-Hop pioneer Heavy D has released details about two memorials being planned for the rapper. Find out who's on the list of invitees inside....

Tuesday night we suffered the unfortunate passing of Hip-Hip icon Heavy D, and now his family is planning two memorials to celebrate his legacy.

First, Radar Online reports that a memorial for will be held next Wednesday, November 16, at the Yannantuono Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, New York from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. And the family is planning a second "private" memorial for November 17 at Grace Baptist Church, also in Mt. Vernon.

Although TMZ has a conflicting report stating that the ceremonies will be held on different dates than previously reported, it is also being said that invited guests of the family include Diddy, Mary J. Blige, the Wayans brothers as well as Eddie F and G-Whiz (former members of Heavy D and the Boyz).

TheYBF.com spoke directly with a representive from Yannantuono Funeral Home who said they could not confirm a specific day for the memorial because they are still in the "planning" stages with the family.

And while reports have surfaced that the rapper visited his doctor with flu-like symptoms, possibly pneumonia, just one day before he died suddenly, it will be a few weeks before the coroner offically releases a cause of death via toxicology reports.

Man, where do I begin ? This is my era, when rap music had a soul, conscious and pulse and it was revolutionary in presentation and strength, ahhh the good ole days. Most rap today is too heavy on materalism, sex and beefing and sadly, it should not have to be that way after brothas like Heavy D, Big Daddy Kane and the like set the tone for the next generation but apparently, not everyone got the memo. Sooo glad I got a chance to see Heavy D in 'Riff/Raff' talk about a powerful performance !!! RIP classy gentleman........

Ditto! You said all that a lot of us 70's babies feel so eloquently. Being a New Yorker, we feel this loss like we did when Big passed. Those of us who had opportunity to meet him never felt rushed or in the way when speaking and giving him his "big-ups". He had a big booming laugh and when we started calling him Lil'D and 1/2 Heavy, he laughed and loved it! We will miss you Dwight! Jah Rule!

Heavy D was that DUDE! Just all around cool dude with lots of positive vibes. You NEVER EVER heard anything scandalous or salacious about him as long as he's been in the business. Still thinkiing about Heav's

Still thinkiing about Heav's passing. The impact he had on hip hop and my life, not enough words. His crew and a few others, your Will Smiths made hip hop fun! We partied, tried to dance like Heavy D and Boz, he could really dance! He was always refreshing. I saw him on Law and Order about two weeks ago. He was playing a tough guy but it was Heavy! I was smiling a bit watching it thinking look at Heavy being a tough guy! I believed the character, but it was Heav. As many have stated before....wishing him a Peaceful Journey. For those of you who never purchased that album, please buy it. It's a classic. The song and title track was for his friend Troy who died during one of their practices for a concert and other things that happen in the world to people in general.

Wacka Flacka no, but I think Lil Wayne and Too Short have a lot of love in the industry and an enourmous fan base. Maybe they don't deserve as much respect in your opinion, but being a Cali girl I know people love them some Too Short. Heavy changed the game. He

Heavy changed the game. He was so different and made his own waves. Look at how many doors he opened for people. Got Puffy his internship at Uptown. Puff then based Biggie's style off of him and so on. He will surely be missed. I loed his music, his flow, his style, his dances and his swagger. And he was really good actor. Just saw him on Law & Order a few weeks ago. Still shocked at his passing. R.I.P.

Heavy D was loved becuz he was always concerned about was happening in our communities I grew up with his music he was a trend setter for positive rap and his respect for woman he had a big heart I didn't know him personally but this is a great lost for the Hip Hop world as well as his fans my heartfelt condolences go out to his Family May God see U through this and to everyone that's mourning Heavy D we was blessed to have had him here on earth RIP Heavy D Gone but will never ever be forgotten Love ya Margaret!!!
