Nobody is talking about the

Nobody is talking about the actors personal preferences. That's their preference and it's fine. BUT... It's the fact that they are spreading the lie of BM/WW love only on the Airmen. ALL of the airmen portrayed in this movie were dating and eventually married to BLACK WOMEN. But the Black women got written out of the story line for white/non-black women. If you can't see the problem with this, then you are A FOOL. Black women need to prepare themselves for insult after insult in 2012 from Hollywood. You will be graphically RAPED on the big screen this year in movies like Django Unchained, REMOVED FROM YOUR OWN HISTORY in Red Tails, and so many other insults from Hollywood. Only Black women continually support their degradation and removal - Red Tails is no different from a hip Hop video - Black women replaced for white. Why do Black women keep supporting this? They are telling you to your face how much they hate you - rappers diss you for their white preference, music videos remove you for white/non-Black, rappers can say things like "kill a nappy headed b*tch" and we keep shaking our a*ses to the hate. Movies diss you everyday and call you a bunch of fat, dirty this-n-thats and use men in drag to portray you, and we still support them. Roles showing you as loving and decent do not include you! Why are you supporting these people as they push you into second class citizenship in your communities, and third class citizenship in the world? Black women are accepting their own demise, at the hands of Black men in hollywood and white people in hollywood, and, just as we accepted being the only women so thoroughly hated and disrespected in Black music (rap/hip hop), we're accepting the same thing in film. This crazy, and pathetic. Are Black women like sufferers of battered woman syndrome, are we getting so used to being mistreated that we will accept anything?? If that's the case, just get ready for your treatment when Django Unchained comes out.

Whether I see the movie or

Whether I see the movie or not has nothing to with the actors dating preference. That being said, those of you acting as if in 2012 the issue of successful black me turning to white women is no longer an issue are fooling themselves. The fact that half of those men are dating white women is not a coincidence. The fact is that many of our very successful black men do turn to women who are not black for reasons that have nothing to do with preference. It has to do with the fact that having a white woman is still a symbol accomplishment. These issues are a by product of slavery and African Americans will not recover from them until we are willing to honestly address the elephant in the room.

How bout if ya'll stop

How bout if ya'll stop complaining. I mean really George Lucas paid 58 million dollars out of his own pocket when he couldn't get all the funding. Don't Sh*T where you eat. All of those actors have been given an amazing opportunity to advance their careers and show the world more successful black people in entertainment. It's garbage for anyone to judge anyone in this day and age. If you don't like white people then don't get pissed when you aren't in the magazines run by white folks and shows and films. Now there are black men in the movie and you're still bitching. Get something to do or pool your money together and make your own damn movie

This subject was already

This subject was already done! How about a movie about the black Army unit who liberated one of the death camps in Germany during WWII, which was Buchenwald! The holocaust survivor and famous writer Elie Wiesel talked about black units who helped him and his fellow Jewish prisoners after they liberated the death camp he was in. I'm sure they would love recognition as well. Also...the race of these actors’ wives should not be an issue! I only wish these same people would also be offended by the numerous articles putting down black women in the media! No one ever gets mad about that, but would gladly agree and generalize a whole race of women. I'm attracted to white males, but I will never put down black men, because I would be putting down the black men in my family. My father beat and treated my mother very nasty, but I would never say all black men are this way because it is an ignorant and uneducated thing to say! I was taught way better than this! Fall in love with whom ever, but don't go out of your way to bash your own race of men and women because of your insecurities and self-hated racial views. I will see this movie to see how it stacks up towards the other movies done on this topic.

I personally will not pay to

I personally will not pay to watch this film, I dislike the acting style of Terrance Howard. But I'm sure men are dying to watch a film like this, with planes and guns, it's been a long time coming, so I'm sure it'll do well. I however will play no part in building up those whose behavior I find not to my liking, just the way I think.

Was there such a big issue

Was there such a big issue when Steven Spielberg directed The Color Purple? George Lucas probably did a wonderful job with this movie. Don't trip about (JUST) his name being on the cover of Ebony magazine. The man DID bring the film together... lol. Sheesh.

Wow, I've read the comments

Wow, I've read the comments and I think both sides have a point. Yes, this is a movie that celebrates an important moment in African-American history. And yes, I agree the George Lucas throwing his weight behind it will definitely increase interest in the movie. But with all that said, actors also sell movies and what they do off-screen impacts if people will support their projects. Need an example: Mel Gibson and Lindsay Lohan. You can't expect a community to support your project if you're making nasty comments about that community during your off-time.

Again, I feel so sorry for

Again, I feel so sorry for EBONY. This cover is such a shameless promotion. That EBONY can't even sell people on the BLACK actors they decided to place on the cover. That a Magazine aimed at People of Color had to write the white producers name.... GEORGE LUCAS in bold letters on the cover in a HUGE font tells you a great deal. This movie will FLOP. And I'm not supporting this TRASH. I know this story. I saw a doc on PBS about these guys. The Tuskegee Airmen was also a great movie on HBO. There was no need to do this movie at all. I'm sick of Hollywood remaking these movies over and over. We need ORIGINAL stories. What happened to the days when People of Color were picked for roles that were not even written for them? Eddie Murphy was a huge actor because people put him in movies and took a chance and it worked out fine. People have every right not to support a movie that has people like Terrence Howard in it. And I'm sorry. Some of Terrence's comments towards black women (women in general) are disgraceful! We don't have to spend our money on ANY project we don't believe in. And this notion that just because a Black person is in a move we have to run out and support it is NONSENSE. I much rather see Pariah which is about a gay girl coming out to her family than be caught watching this UNORIGINAL movie. At least with Pariah I will learn something about a subculture and understanding that I have never seen before. And I will watch good performances!

Make a stand for something and don't rely on others to past black history on to your seeds. Sorry. I won't be supporting unless somehow I find a REAL need to. What I see, I'm not impressed with at all. My 2 cents.

SAD!SAD!SAD! I cannot believe

SAD!SAD!SAD! I cannot believe people will NOT support a movie about the honorable lives of African American men during an era where blacks were NOT allowed to achieve and attain anything because the actors chosen for the roles are married to and/or prefer white women! Isn't that cutting your nose to spite your face? Really? In 2012? I don't see Jewish people boycotting Wooden Allen films because he is currently married to his former step daughter who is VIETNAMESE? Are Jewish people boycotting Steven Spielberg because he has adopted several African American children? What has the personal lives of these actors got to do with their God given talents? We complain that there are NOT enough roles for African Americans on films, we complain that when there are roles available they are coonery and not worthy of our immense talents, we complain that Hollywood never green lights our SERIOUS movies only demeaning comedies or violent, debasing films so here it is one of Hollywoods most RESPECTED ICONS decides to throw his weight behind a story about us and what do we do? COMPLAIN! JESUS, BLACK FOLKS COME ON NOWWWWWWWWWW! WHAT WILL IT BE? Here is a suggestion, if you are pained that Black men are marrying white/yellow/red/green women, how about you go get yourself a white/yellow/red/green man? Because guess what, these men are living their lives and not thinking about all of you and your resentments. This is a free world, if your happy lies with a white dude, go for it because guess what...they are going for theirs! I can't even take it! JESUS!

I don't care who they date and if they systematically chose to date white women or not, I don't care. What I care about is a good flick and seeing black stories told whereby my son can see positive images of black men on screen. What they do in their personal lives is of no concern of mine just like I don't want what I do in my personal life being of concern to anyone too. I don't go to my job worried about what my co workers does, I care that they do their job period. You on the other hand are totally entitled to your flawed opinion.

@Sexyblack girl You better

@Sexyblack girl You better PREACH! I get so sick of people acting like we have to support the same regurgitated stories time and time again. I agree with another poster who said that George Lucas being involved is not adding anything to the same story. Having better CGI air battles does not move the story along any better. I saw the The Tuskegee Airmen story on HBO and PBS and HBO's version was brilliant. You had better ACTORS in the original film. And people have every right not to support a FILM if they don't like the actors. FOR WHATEVER REASON! I'm not saying it's fair to judge people because of who they are in a relationship with. I don't think who a person is married to makes them a bad actor. But half of these actors for this FILM are poor actors. I personally can't stand Cuba Gooding Jr. I don't think he's that talented. Just because a person win's an Oscar does not mean they are great in my view. I mean what has Cuba done since Jerry Maguire?? Snow Dogs? And Terrence Howard is annoying for a number personal reasons and statements he's made. People have EVERY right not to see something if they don't like the people involved. There is nothing wrong with that!
