VIDEO: D'Angelo RETURNS To The Stage In Stockholm, Kicks Off European Tour!

Oh...there you are Mr. D'Angelo. It's been over 11 years and 2 U.S. Presidents since we've seen D'Angelo perform live....or barely anywhere in public for that matter. But he kicked off his European D-Tour last night in Stockholm, Sweden. Video inside...

In his first live performance since the 2000 Voodoo Tour, D'Angelo played to Sweden's capital last night...rocking long braids and swole arms (remember when his fitness instructor said they've been in the gym constantly?).

He was joined by his drummer Chris Dave and frequent collaborator Pino Palladino for last night's show--which he seemed ecstatic to be performing. And his next stops are Copenhagen, Paris, Amsterdam, London, Oslo, Zurich, and Hamburg. And Questlove says D's upcoming album we've been waiting forever for, James River, is "97% done."

Yes Europe loves and supports Neo soul, thats why his 2 of his concerts were sold out in one day and they added a third one on demand wich is sold out too.. totally agree. like some other commenters pointed out, it is sad that in our country image is more important than substance. i find myself listening to cd's converted on my itunes from the early 2000's as opposed to new music that's being put out. not to say some good stuff hasn't surfaced, but artists like D'Angelo are a dime a dozen. He is a TRUE artist, and thank God for his gift. I pray he has a support system around him that can help him continue to flourish and leave those drug demons in his past. The enemy is constantly trying to re-route us from fulfilling our purpose. I hope his career is more successful now that it has ever been. Bless you Brotha! Stay UP!!

D'Angelo can get it three ways from Sunday, five ways from Saturday and upside down, inside out. Yes he always seemed to have a good spirit and weight or no weight, brotha was always fine to me. Don't necessary like the braids but we can work with it.

He went to Europe first to get his set tight and because its more about the music over there.

I agree with you because I heard the same thing. Questlove said it in an article and recently a person working with him said the same thing. He's not gonna look like he did 10 years ago, but I don't care. I like him for his music and it's sad most of out artist have to go out of their home country because hey feel they won't be accepted in the states.

Well tell your friend to tell D'Angelo, there are some people who are still interested in just the music. And while it may not be the masses anymore, we still count, and we should be the only ones that matter. From reading all the negative comments on EVERY other celebrity, and how these commenters feel ENTITLED to be so hurtful, I hope he as a strong will and can ignore it all. As much as these people don't realize it, they are the vultures out to eat you alive. America is full of dream killers who like to laugh at your failure and criticize your success. I hope he remembers that and can handle it.

People in Europe are more open to various types of music than in America where they are hung up on looks, gimmicks and pop/hip-hop. People like Janis Joplin, Etta James, EWF, heck Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, James Taylor, Aretha Franklin etc wouldn't have gotten signed in today music industry! NO WAY. It is sad that people like D'Angelo, Bilal, Living Color, Brand New Heavies etc have to go to Europe in order to make a living playing music because folks in America have tunnel vision when it comes to music.

Mybad for the cursing , but sista when i was over in Europe it felt like a brotha was in heaven!!!They got they own little towns and hot spots where they play nothing but jazz, soul, and r&b music. I damn near wanted to give up UNITED STATES citizenship just to stay there, we listen to the media way to much in the US , thinking this is just the best place in the world AND it's a great place to live, but as far as culture,music, etc NOO IT'S NOT.
