PROUD PAPA: Diddy's Son Justin Combs Makes UCLA OFFICIAL!

Diddy and Misa Hylton were proud parents this week as their son Justin Dior Combs signed his letter of intent to play football for UCLA on a full scholarship.  Pics and deets inside...

Justin Dior Combs, the son of Diddy and Misa Hylton signed his UCLA letter of intent on Wednesday (National Signing Day) at his high school Iona Prep.  And his grandma Janice was there to cheer him on as well.

The talented youngin' will attend the school on a full scholarship for football (worth about $54,000 a year).
And in accepting the full Division 1 scholarship to play at UCLA, he turned down offers from universities in Wyoming, Virginia and Illinois.

Speaking about UCLA, Justin said,

'It was love at first sight.  When I stepped on the campus, I knew I was going to be a player there. I knew I just had to get there.'

And the soon-to-be-freshman cutie has been putting in a lot of practice to prep for his start on June 24, even working out with Jets star Darrelle Revis.  He said, "It’s going to be surreal at first but then at the end of the day you’ve got to go to work and you’ve got to get what’s yours and show why you’ve been working hard."

Earlier in the day, his mom Misa tweeted, Today is going to be a great day!

Meanwhile, Diddy said, 'This is everything a father could want for his son, for him to excel at what he loves to do and is truly passionate about.  Justin is a shining example of what hard work, determination and a strong mentality can achieve. I am honored to call him my son and am happy that he is fulfilling his dream."

He later tweeted about his other "son" Quincy's upcoming video shoot saying, Atten LA ladies my son Quincy is looking for YOU RT : Shooting my video "STAY AWHILE" in LA 2/6

Congrats to Justin and the family!

It is apparent that P. Diddy

It is apparent that P. Diddy have used his fame, fortune and influence to "market" his son,Justin, as a hot commodity. As much as the public wants the children of celebrities to be as talented, gifted, hard working and resilient as the celebrities, it is sometimes to difficult of a task for their often lazy, self-absorbed, spoiled, superficial offspring. While the public sits back politely and tries not to offend the powerful Will and Jada Smith, it will now do the same for Diddy. The difference is Diddy's actions may result in Justin getting seriously, physically hurt. know a NFL player that graduated from high school at 300+ lbs and 6'4", poor and with the eye of the tiger. Justin, Diddy...keepitreal!

Great to see this reported!

Great to see this reported! I saw Diddy in an interview on a sports show where he expressed his admiration for his son pursuing his passion for football despite the fact that he was not always there to encourage him along given his hectic schedule. Still, despite any negative media concerning Diddy one can glean that he truly loves all of his children and is a good father. I'm happy to learn that Justin received a scholarship as it attests to both his scholastic and athletic abilities. And no one knows which colleges Diddy does or does not contribute funds to--perhaps he donates significant dollars to HBCUs so I see nothing wrong with his family accepting a scholarship for their son. And perhaps Diddy will pay for the college tuition and donate the scholarship to someone less fortunate (we just may not know about it). Regarding Justin's size--there was a short basketball player (can't remember his name) and everyone discounted him and he went on to become a successful player in the NBA. So don't sleep on Justin because of his smaller stature. But most importantly, wish for him to receive an enriching education. Hats off to Misa Hylton and Diddy for raising what appears to be a great example of a fine (motivated, working hard to achiever goals) young black man!

Great that's he's extolling

Great that's he's extolling the virtue of education be it for playing football - but how mean to stop a worthier child from getting a full scholarship that's just greedy. Why do the rich always want something for free. That scholarship could have transformed a less fortunate child's life not some rich brat.

Here's what ESPN has to say.

Here's what ESPN has to say. Sounds like he'll be a decent role player. Yeah, it's unusual to offer a role player a full ride but you do the math: A $100,000 investment to get back potentially several million from Puffy and other hangers-on is a good ROI (return on investment). ESPN Analyst Updated 11/02/2011 Combs is a very quick, disciplined and reactive defender against the run and pass. Has minimal size and very good athleticism for the corner position at the major level of competition; a growth spurt with added body mass would be beneficial provided foot quickness and playing speed are not compromised. This guy is a tough customer who plays with good balance and explosion when tackling; should be productive as a special team's coverage defender. We like his flexibility and agility; demonstrates the ability to make tight turns and mirror receivers when in zone or man coverage. Displays quick feet in his back pedal along with the ability to flip his hips smoothly; is disciplined in zone coverage showing good route awareness; is able to keep a good relationship when confronted with two receivers in his area. There is very little wasted motion when planting and breaking up on underneath throws, flashing a good closing burst to the ball; his quick break and secure tackling skills limit underneath catches to minimal yardage. Displays good toughness defending the run, using his hands effectively to ward off blockers and maintain leverage off the edge; isn't intimidated by size and is very willing to mix it up with blockers on the corner. Combs does not appear to be an immediate starter at the BCS level of play. However if a red shirt year isn't deemed necessary, early situational defensive playing time is not out of the question.

I agree with what is being

I agree with what is being said. First off we wanna congratulate Justin becuase this a great thing that shouldn't'nt be takin from him. He is only a child. We know the way of the world. Its always been "its not what you know, its who you know." So maybe Diddy being his dad was the reason he got in. So what. Rich white people do this @ Harvard, Yale and NYU every semester. Now I think what Diddy should have done was choose a random person in the financial aid line and paid for there tuition just because he has it and he won't have to pay for Justin's. We cannot fault just for being born in a priveleged family this is not the first and certainly not the last time someone will get an advantage for being rich. I'm just happy their black and they come from nothing anf have a built an empire comporable to that of small countries. #congratzJustin LAUNCHING FEB 2012 CLICK THE LOGO CHECK US OUT!!

Diddy could decline on that

Diddy could decline on that full scholarship and give it to someone who really deserves it. Laws really need to be changed for the rich. Someone said something about the mom and grandma looking stupid with blonde hair well, all I have to say is the apple did not fall far from the tree with diddy. They all are unattractiveghetto black people they just have money that's all.

Is he in cause his daddy is diddy? Boy, better can play. I am pissed all the money they have and he gets a full scholarship!? there really should be a law because diddy can pay as a matter a fact he should be helping others to go to college that are underpriveleged. That's all.

^^^ THIS!! Seriously, you know diddys got money, why would they even offer him a scholarship when so many young kids out there could really change their situation with such an opportunity. He could sell the maybach or whatever car he got for his sweet 16 and put HIMSELF through school for that matter!

Congrats Justin! Very happy for you! You better finish & get that degree come Sp.16' Now..Justin is rich! If his pops can give him a car that costs more than 4 yrs of tuition at UCLA on his 16th birthday...yeah its cause the young man is well off. There is an applicant out there who will not go to UCLA cause the son of a very rich man received a free ride..smh. Diddys diamonds cost more than 4 yrs at UCLA. P.S...And Mysa does not have a weave in her hair. Momma Combs does, but not Mysa.

I stated this in response to

I stated this in response to a comment further down, but I decided to post it again. For all those who THINK this is well-deserved, consider this - How many 5'9" 165 lb cornerbacks (his CURRENT STATS & position) to you think UCLA offered a similar scholarship to in the past decade? Try none! The kid is unranked in MaxPreps for God's sake, and the top 25 cornerbacks in the country have an average height of 6 feet, with only ONE of the top 25 from the class of 2012 being Justin's size (and he's ranked near the bottom & NO he didn't get a full ride to UCLA). BE SMART - it's a heck of a deal for a school surrounded by Hollywood, and many stalkers will attend every game that kid is in to catch a glimpse of Puff, or whatever celebs he drags with him. Ask Morehouse how much their attendance went up every year John David Washington played with them, or UCF how much play they get now that the Jordan brothers are there with MJ in the stands...heck, even Romeo Miller attracted some attention at USC (2 years and only 5 points later - he was GONE). I want Justin to get that diploma, b/c unfortunately, THIS TOO SHALL PASS!

A young black man gets a full

A young black man gets a full scholarship to play football at UCLA!!! You'd think that everyone commenting on a site called "young, black and fabulous" would be celebrating this young man's achievements.... but NO, people are tearing him and his family down. This is nothing short of RIDICULOUS and EMBARRASSING. It's s if people would be more satisfied if the story was about Justin being locked up for drug abuse... It's called self loating. Too many black people on this site hate themselves so much that they can't stand to see another black person succeed. These people need God and therapy. Leave the young man alone and work on improving your own life.

I can't believe how many brained washed sheep are on this site. You sound like the fool repug rednecks who believe ppl like Romney deserve to keep all that money while the rest of us pick up their slack. It's great that the mom used Puff's resources to secure the boy a solid secondary education. However, you Puff's fans should be raising hell on his websites, etc demanding that he put the value of that scholarship in rotation in the black community! I am not a fan of that vampire but I will be blowing up his Ciroc site and other product site with my $0.02. FYI, I am a successful engineer thanks to full ride scholarships for my BS and MS!!!! Wake up people!

What is it with Diddy's

What is it with Diddy's mother wearing a blonde wig dark/ugly as she is. Guess she still thinks she's in the ghetto. Its hard to believe that she was a school teacher. No wonder the kids nowadays don't know nothing. She looks a mess and so does Misa with that dead weave on her head. That picture looks like a throwback because of those 2 wearing bust-down bad weaves. Lastly, Diddy stop having all these kids and 10+ baby mamas. SMDH

I think its important to know

I think its important to know that Justin is not rich...his dad is! The scholarship was not awarded to Puff. It was awarded to Justin! I'm sure Misa and Puff told Justin when you work hard, you are rewarded. The scholarship was Justin's reward. I'm proud of you young man. Keep up the good work and continue to be a role model for all young people, young black men especially!

I completely agree with what

I completely agree with what you are saying but at the same time I feel conflicted. There is a student who desperately needs a full scholarship to go to college and they will not get it or they will be paying off student loans for the rest of their life. A part of me feels that Diddy should of had him tur down the scholarship and offer to pay.

There is no way this kid

There is no way this kid would've gotten I scholarship like this from UCLA if his father wasn't the mogul he is...Any child or adult can go to college...Hell! There are thousands of idiots in college but for this child to get the recognition he's getting only because he's Diddy son is ridiculous...I'm graduating this May and I know tons of talented scholars and/or athletes that never got the recognition that Justin is getting...I mean college is the biggest scam set up the U.S. federal & state government(s)...RIDICULOUS

I just wanted to explain

I just wanted to explain college recruiting to you. My husband is a mens division 1 basketball coach. During the recruiting process you find out who the top player s are and start recruiting those kids from their jr to sr years in school. College coaches don't know who's rich or not. You try to recruit the most talented kids on the fields and off the field. You want kids who can play at the particular position you need and most importantly student athletes who perform academically as well. I'm sure this young man was recruited for both. His ability to play doesn't off set the fact that he needed to have good ACT or SAT scores before a scholarship will be offered. Congrats to all parents and student athlete s who realize that in order to receive a full paid scholarship you must perform well in your particular sport and have good grades and test scores. If not then off to prep school or jr college until you gave the scores needed for a 4 yr univ.

This child is not getting this scholarship just because he is diddys son. The boy is a beast on the field youtube his videos and you will see for youself. I am proud of him and believe he got it for his talents not cause of Diddy. Do your research before you judge.
