MAGAZINE FAB: Trey Songz Get GQ, Says He Values Privacy And Changing Up His Music

R&B crooner Trey Songz posed in a series of dapper jackets and blazers for GQ Magazine website recently. See the fab pics inside and see what he said about making the kind of music he wants.....

Don't expect to see Trey Songz putting all his business out on Twitter. During a chat with GQ, he talked about the value of privacy saying,

"What made Prince Prince is, you didn't know sh*t about him. As an artist, you [need] a persona, a mystique. When you step into Twitter, Facebook, alla that...you're giving a piece of it away."

And his music might be going in a different direction too...

"I could make a hundred 'Bottoms Up's, but they won't change nobody's life. Marvin Gaye sang love songs to a certain point, and then it was like, 'F*ck this, I'm not clean-cut no more. I'm putting this skully on, letting this beard grow out, and I'm doing whatever the fuck I wanna do."

Sounds like Trey's next album might be on some "deep" stuff. Might.

Exactly! Isn't it funny he once criticized R. Kelly for supposedly changing up his style & "following the trend", when he pretty much did the same thing!? Maybe not in regards to autotune, but he switched his style up musically too. 'I Gotta Make It' was Trey's best album, imo. After 'Trey Day', I was done. Between sex, sex, and MORE sex, he was becoming overexposed, predictable, & like you said, basically dumbed the music down for more attention. Also, he tries way too hard to be sexy. I've gotten to the point, I can no longer take him seriously. His music & gestures are too contrived. Even his mixtapes of recent, have left much to be desired. Imo, the last solid, good one he had was 'Anticipation'. Call me when he stops "believing & buying into the hype/feeding his ego"/doingtoomuch.com, and gets back to making real music like his 1st album again. I'm not here for the "I'm too sexy", bubblegum, teenybopper bullsh*t.

Others chose to ignore him, but sometimes when you're new, you have to go through that grind & build your way up. @ TAY TAY People know this is a shoot for GQ. They also know this is not how he dresses or would dress. What is funny is how he looks. And how they styled him. GQ is a nice magazine but they clearly have a "look". Each month you see men looking like this jumping and making the same silly expressions. Teen Vogue does the same exact thing. The funny aspect (in addition to his facial expressions and purple jeans) are his pedestrian comments about Music. Trey Songz is all about his appearance. Trey Songz is not Marvin Gaye and he does not even UNDERSTAND the type of MAN MARVIN GAYE WAS by his superficial comments about the musical LEGEND. Marvin Gaye was not like TREY....he did not DRESS a particular way to express who he was like most HOMO THUGS do today. Marvin was part of MOTOWN and yes he did POP MUSIC but that was NEVER who he really was. Marvin also grew up in a TIME when things were "going on" (so to speak). You had the VIETNAM WAR, CIVIL RIGHTS a lot of things boiling over and Marvin used music to address those realities and that was a GREAT period for him. TREY SONGZ is not a deep person. PERIOD. Nobody will ever accept "GAY SONGZ" singing about issues or anything of VALUE because he has nothing at all to SAY. PRINCE is also HUGE because he is a real MUSICIAN. Too many people today only think ONLY about the SURFACE not all the work it takes to be a REAL SINGER...which TREY will NEVER BE. "a persona, a mystique..." TREY does not even understand the meaning of those TERMS.

I love this look when I went back to the West Coast I saw a lot of men wearing this look. I think it's sexy and it takes a certain type of man to pull it off. In regard to his music, I hope he does come out with something different than what is being playing on the radio. This new pop/r&b/techno or whatever you want to call it does not sound good.
