FOOLYWANG MATERIAL! In Case You Missed It: Pastor Puts STRIPPER POLE In Pulpit To SAVE Marriages!

If you're one of our Ohio readers, you can make your way down to Pastor Mike Scruggs' church for a new take on "the word." He takes a more "modern" approach to his sermons which often covers sex, drugs, and other worldly issues. Most recently, he put a stripper pole in the pulpit.....for his series of sermons called "Battle Of The Sexes." Deets inside....

Church is anything but boring at the Light of Word Ministries in White Oak, Ohio. Pastor Mike Scruggs is on a mission to save "marriage" so he put a stripper pole (as well as a bed) in the pulpit for his series of sermons on marriage called "Battle Of The Sexes." And guess what....he had a packed house!

Pastor Scruggs also scattered dollar bills, lacy lingerie and killer high heels at the base of the neon pink pole. On the opposite end of what men want, he had a stage for candy, roses, teddy bears, and a bottle of wine (for what women want).

Scruggs defends his teaching saying:

"We talk about sex. We talk about drugs. We talk about faith. We talk about relationships ... , things that people are dealing with on a day-to-day basis.

On one side [we'll have] what men want or desire: your stripper pole, your video games, your sports. The woman's side [is] orderly, neat. It's all about love, candy, teddy bears, roses and being wined and dined and cherished."

No word yet on how many marriages (or souls) were saved.

I've heard him preach before

I've heard him preach before and he's very good and relatable. You religious people kill me with your phony, compartmentalized lives. He is trying to reach you where you are and you want him to front like you are somewhere else. If you were actually as sanctimonious as you claim to be you wouldn't be on a gossip site. I've known Mike since high

I've known Mike since high school and he is a truely a man of God. His visuals are meant to shake up the hive and think about the UNGODLY things that are on our minds. Just because it's in a church building doesn't make the message any less meaningful b/c the building is "sacred"...it's just a building. The body of God is inside of us!!!!

This is God at his greatest...So many people speaking on this page. It's just what it was meant for. As a member of this church I got a little fed up at all those posting unGodly comments. I then realized that we have already succeeded. In order to be somebody in this world you need people to talk about you. This is wrong on so many levels the pulpit is supposed to be the holy place in which God dwells all of the things he had that represents the things men and women desire are fleshly things in a matrimony under the will of God none of those things should apeal to you. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak and that's what's represented. I'm all for props for the presentation but these things represent the world not Christ

I understand what he's trying

I understand what he's trying to do. My pastor gets a little too worldly sometimes and I give him the side eye. He is trying to reach people but we don't need you to come down to our level, you need to be bringing us up to God's level. I need to find me an old school church where the Pastor breaks out in Yes, Jesus Loves Me mid-sermon and they serve fried chicken in the basement. These new Pastor's are doing the most.

Well, I haven't been to the church so don't know how effective it is and to be honest since I'm not a religious person I wouldn't. However, for all those condemning him sure it may not be appropriate but I think you're missing the point - he's tailored his message to reach the audience and the audience is packed. I think this is a case of 'don't shoot the messenger', it's not his fault if they can't connect to a message that is presented in a more conventional manner. Let's just hope his approach does some good.

Things that you don't

Things that you don't understand may be disturbing to you. I'm a loyal member of the church and my wife and I have a great and loving relationship based on the sermons that have been taught at our church. "Don't go to church, Be the church!"

Stripper poles in the church in what universe does this make sense, on the other hand since a lot of churches have turned into the club in just how some of these preachers and members act, then I guess the next step would be a stripper pole lol. Umm, the Holy Spirit is supposed to dwell in a BUNCH of places, including your mind, heart and spirit. But that's not always the case, is it? I'm not even religious, but I

I'm not even religious, but I still think this is a mess and disrespectful. What's next? Encouraging men to go to prostitutes and taking the congregation clubbing after the Sunday sermon. Let me make this clear, I have nothing against strippers (or prostitutes, for that matter), but this mess has no place in a church.
