Nicki Minaj OPENS UP About Her Dad's Drug Addiction & Lady GaGa Comparison + Mashonda & Lil'Mo MAKE The "Mystery" Song
Nicki Minaj appeared on "Nightline" last night where she opened up about her abusive childhood, her controversial image and fun things like her favorite curse word (the F-bomb). Watch the interview inside and see footage of Mashonda and Lil' Mo making their "Mystery" song.
Last night, Nicki Minaj opened up about being compared to Lady Gaga (got a little feisty about it too), her abusive childhood and keeping to her controversial lyrics & style even with young fans. Here are the highlights from the interview, which she taped right after her "Today" show appearance this past Friday:
On remaining her controversial self even with her young fans:
“I don’t want to offend moms or children, like when they come and pay their money to see a show. But I didn’t come in the game to be an artist that appealed to kids either—and I’m a crazy lunatic.”
“I’m so sorry about that. People are ridiculous if they think I would use that as a stunt. I would never, ever, ever—swear to God—do something like that on purpose. That’s ridiculous. I would never do that.”
On her father's addiction and abuse:
“My father was abusive. We were afraid for [my mother's] life because whenever he would have a real bad outburst, he would threaten to kill her.”
She added, “I wanted to kill him. I wished he was dead.”
On being a "BOSS"
“When a man is ‘bossed up,’ he is taking control, he’s getting money, he’s in control of his settings everytime. And there’s no synonym for it in the female world outside of bitch.” (We feel her on that.)
On becoming a mom:
“When I saw Madonna, I realized it can be done ’cause I saw her children were coming to the rehearsals and that really moved me,” said Nicki, adding, “But no children anytime soon!”
On Lady Gaga comparisons:
She says the comparisons irk her. "We are in completely different lanes. First of all, I’m a rapper. First of all, I’m from Southside Jamaica, Queens, and I could say some really crazy lyrics right now, but I won’t.”
