Martin Lawrence and his wife of 2 years, Shamicka Lawrence, have decided to call it quits. Find out about the comedian and his woman being on Splitsville Lane inside...

"Big Momma's House" star Martin Lawrence & wife Shamicka, who have 2 kids together, were together for 15 years before making it official in 2010. And today, the couple put out a joint statement saying:

"Out of love and respect for one another we will continue to remain friends and raise our two beautiful daughters together."

A rep for Martin said in a statement to People:

"Martin and Shamicka Lawrence have decided to divorce. The couple has made the joint decision to part ways."

Damn Gina! Meanwhile, Martin just wrapped his nation wide comedy tour and is shooting a pilot for a new CBS comedy.

Not really strange actually, bc once you've already presented EVERYTHING to a partner w/o marriage, it is less sacred and spouses tend to be less committed IN the marriage. I've personally seen 4-5 cousins & friends do exactly the same thing (together 10+ years, & have marriages that ended in divorce in under 4 years. The flip side is that I met my husband, was engaged within 3 months, married in under 2 years (that was SOLELY me dragging my feet, not him), NEVER lived with him before marriage, and we're still going strong over 15 years later! He always said he COULDN'T WAIT to get married bc then he'd be able to hold me all night and see me first thing in the morning. Corny by today's standards, but I gave him something to wait for, so he pushed me to marry him sooner! Men like chasing us, we need to try giving them something to chase! If you're already his wifey in everything but name, what's to chase??? SMDH - Going around calling him your husband, paying HIS bills, cooking YOUR food up, watching HIS kids, when you KNOW he has not made one step to put a ring on it! We're ruining our own lives. O_o
