Gabby Sidibe Reveals She Was Told To QUIT HOLLYWOOD + Zoe Kravitz Covers NYLON

Gabourey Sidibe may have shot to fame with an Oscar nomination for her first role out the door. But before the movie hit theaters, her fave actress advised her to quit the Hollywood business due to her "image". Hilarious "The Big C" actress Gabourey Sidibe stopped by Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” clubhouse last night with James Van Der Beek. And when host Andy Cohen asked her which celebrity meeting was the most disappointing during her rise to fame, she said Joan Cusak. Gabby revealed that when she first met Joan, who is one of her fave actresses, at an industry party, Joan not only didn’t know who she was but then told her that she should quit show business because it’s so “image conscious.” Damn homie.

Speaking of Gabby S., her Yelling To The Sky movie co-star, Zoe Kravitz, is looking like un-combed sunshine on the upcoming Young Hollywood May 2012 issue of NYLON magazine:

"I think because of the Internet and everyone's obsession with celebrity and paparazzi and blogs and phones being hacked, we have an incredible amount of access to other people's lives. People now expect more than a performance. They expect to know what you do and what you're wearing and who you're f**king and what you ate that day and what time you took a s**t... [When I was at Jennifer Lawrence's house] she was like, 'Can we just stay home and watch TV all night? I can't leave my house.' And I was like, 'Jen, I'm not going to bulls**t you. This isn't going away tomorrow.'"

Zoe on her personal style:
"I feel like everyone thinks that everyone should look the same - clean cut. If I go to a party and my hair's messy and my shirt's ripped or whatever, it's like, 'She's a crackhead.' I'm like, 'Do I have to look like a f**king perfect Barbie doll?' The cool thing about fashion is that if you do it right, it's an art form and it's a way to express yourself."

Hey GetlikeMe! Get a life! Not everyone on this blog is broke or a hoe. I'll being graduating from college in 2 weeks, going to graduate school in the fall, and doing an internship this summer and I know for a fact that Gabby needs to get it together. And you say that people do things when they're ready? Well that's like saying I'll start chemo for this malignant cancer I have when I feel like it. This isn't just a lifestyle issue, it's a health issue. The girl's body is sick in a bad way. This isn't to be mean, but as one sister to another I want us all to live to our fullest potential and I just don't see that happening if she doesn't make a change.

While I dont agree with the advice she dished out to Gabby, FTR Joan Cusack was born and raised in Hollywood so she knows exactly what she's talking about re the superficial expectations and it doesnt improve for a woman of color muchless an extremely overweight woman of color. Im still proud of Gabby and how far she's come amidst all that. Im sure she's not happy with her weight and will eventually do something about it but hey if it makes the folks who always keep rubbing it in her face sleep better at night then so be it.

My first question to Joan Cusack would be, did Gabourey Sidibe ask you for career advice? Man, she has got some damn nerves telling GS to quit Hollywood, what AN IDIOT!!! Does she think Gabourey doesn't know that Hollywood is an image conscious place, oh I am sure she knows it with every room she enters in that town but instead of using the moment of the meeting as a teachable, encouraging, uplifting moment, she aimed to crush this young lady's spirit with that comment. Yes, Gabourey needs to lose weight. We know this, she knows this and she will at her own given time. The nagging will not make the weight fall off. It isn't any easy task losing weight, it took me a year to lose 16lbs and I am aiming to lose 30 so I feel for her. May God help her.

Gabourey *knows* what she looks like people! She *knows* she's overweight. She *knows* she needs to lose weight for her health. She will do it when she's damn well ready. Meanwhile, berating her about it is not helping; in fact, it probably makes it harder. Whether someone smokes, drinks too much, abuses drugs or over eats---you really shouldn't nag or force them into deciding to change their habits. Furthermore, big people should have more acting roles. Afterall, 2/3rds of the people in this country are overweight or obese. (Before you ask, I'm a size 2, lol.)

I hope she's on the path to a healthier body. You can call me mean, but I feel uncomfortable watching people her size. That's why it's hard for me to enjoy her acting. I've only seen her in Precious (an overrated movie imo) because my mom made me watch it and it was brutal. Best of luck to her. I'm sure it's not easy to lose weight, but it needs to be done.
