CONFIRMED: Tia Mowry LEAVES "The Game" To Focus On "Other Projects"!

After rumors hit the net earlier this evening that Tia Mowry (as well as her on screen husband Pooch Hall) decided not to return to her lead role on BET's "The Game," she's officially OUT! Tia confirmed the rumor via her Twitter, saying she wants to focus on a few of her upcoming projects instead. Damn homie.

Just moments ago, Tia Mowry, who plays the selfish yet lovable lead role of "Melanie Davis" on "The Game," revealed to her fans that she will not be back for the sixth season of the hit show.

The new mom stated via her Twitter:

"Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for season 6. It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun along the way. I am looking forward to my upcoming projects...the release of my book #OhBaby [today!], season 2 of @TiaTameraShow on @mystyle premiering in June, and my @ABCFamily movie coming out in December...more to come!" love u so much

Wow. While "The Game" is definitely not as good as it previously was when the CW was its home, I don't want to see it tumble completely because the major cast is leaving.

Tia's departure indeed comes as a surprise as she never gave any indication that she was contemplating leaving the show (and did not mention this on "The Wendy Show" this morning, and in fact, was instrumental in bringing it back to tv after the CW dropped it.

TheYBF.com reached out to both BET & Tia's rep for a statement, before Tia released her own, and both were blindsided by the possibility of her leaving. Interestingly, both of the projects Tia mentioned--her reality show and her ABC Family movie--have already been shot and are completed/near completion. So it's unclear as to how a new season of "The Game" would interfere. It sounds like somebody didn't get their salary minimum.

Oh wells. Good luck chick.

And as for Pooch Hall, he hasn't confirmed either way. But on May 5th, the actor--who plays Melanie's loving football star "Derwin Davis," confirmed that BET was in the midst of working out a new contract. Whether or not that actually went through is yet to be seen.

The season 5 finale goes down June 5th, 10pm ET.

Tia did not willing leave the show ... the producers and writers reduced her role on and wanted her only as a recurring actress! Who does that? Anyway, I have not watched the new season!

This is how I feel about the situation and it is real facts first off the show has not been the same as it was on the CW.Second about the writers they are all the same writer's same crew so to say they need new writer's doesn't make sense it's just they change because they had to try and fit in to BET image or whatever BET want to air them and it sucked because all that they put in there was a joke,what Tasha had to say to Kelly/Kelly being removed and her hair yuck!, the original Brit Brat,and many more terrible changes.Third is sad to see that BET took advantage of these talented actors that apparently had millions bring it back as as a NUMBER ONE HIT SHOW and made it their gain and the actors/actresses lost.And finally last but definitely not least they only way I would say this show would last cause people will still watch the reruns for the old characters and it will go down because people are going to be disappointed cause the fought not only for the show but also for the characters they fell in love with cause it was real and relatable and might I add very funny especially Mel&Derwin This definitely a very sad thing to let them go after it was because of them bringing those characters to life so well it would have been best to just let the show go to remember them as the characters with the previous writings and letting a good show end good instead messing up a good thing!SORRY TO ALL THE CHARACTERS OF THE "THE GAME" TOBE HONEST IT LOOKS BAD FOR THE ONE'S WHO LEAVES BECAUSE OF LETTING DOWN THE FANS THAT BROUGHT YOU BACK AND IT LOOKS BAD FOR THE ONE'S WHO STAY (NO COMMENT ON WHY THEY KNOW)LOSE-LOSE SITUATION!

I Have to disagree with most of the comments .... I happen to really enjoy the game since BET picked it up .....unfortunately I don't think the show will last without tia and pooch ...(sad face)

I agree. The show is going to need someone who is as strong or stronger than Tia Mowry. I think the show is going to go down hill from this point. Unfortuantely, the show got very bland since they removed the show from regualar television. I watched a few times and found myself geting bored. Tia is doing what is best for her. If she wants to focus on other engagements, then she should go for it. Take it this way. How many of you are still working at the same job since you were hired there? I can almost bet that the answer is no. Sometimes a person have to make career changes in order to be where they want to be! I think it's good that her and her sister has their own tv show!

I have followed The Game from when it was at cw and now that it's on BET. I love this show and appreciated how the characters have grown. I was excited when BET brought it back from the dead and I enjoy when I see a new episode each week. Im sad Tia is leaving but the show is a wonderful ensemble. Tia...do u girl!!

I am grateful to BET for picking up the show it would not still be on air if it were not for BET I also think the show is more realistic now I think it is a better depiction of what goes on behind the scenes of black celebrities and athletes all shows has twists and turns that they go through but I hope the show can last as long as the Cosby's

I have followed the show

I have followed the show every since its inaugural season on CW. Although the show is not the same, it has still been a great sitcom. It's run has been no different than any other show's run, from Sanford & Son to Good Times to The Jeffersons to 227 and I could go on. Over time there time comes. But regardless...I will be watching the Game to its last episode.

ITA with all comments. When BET took over, it did loose it's flava. It does need better writers. It lost its appeal. I tried to watch to try and support the few black shows on tv, but it's hard with the quality goes down. With BET annoucing repeatedly that the GAME was their highest ratings ever, then if they were promised a higher salary, they should have been given a higher salary. If Tia and Pooch leave, I am sure they will continue successfully. I will be watching to see how will BET fix this. Also, they should have brought Kelly back. Kelly should have moved over to BET... that was pretty blatant if you ask me.

Why is anybody surprised?BET picking up the game was like the kiss of death. The writing has been terrible and the storylines have been atrocious.BET is pathetic the show barely lasted two seasons with changes. How the hell is the show suppose to survive without the 2 main characters. Because all the other characters play off of melanie and derwin.They are so stupid no way this show is going to last. Once again another FAIL for BET. And if they think shows like Let's stay together and reed between the lines are going to keep them a float think again. Once again BET reputation precedes them nothing ever good comes from EBT I mean BET.

I agree! The game has completely lost it's appeal since it got picked up by bet... And really, why did they get rid of Kelly Pitts character?? She was awesome and sweet and funny, she also added variety and made the show more interesting! I also loved her and Jason as a couple, I have no idea why the writers made the mistake of getting them divorced! Now with Melanie leaving it's really going to suck! She is the whole show! I'm very disappointed with bet, this show was way better when it was on cw. Also can we get past the racial stuff and just love our fellow humans the way God intended!

The show did not live up to all the hype when it returned to the airways. It was really ghetto and Melanie and Derwin (in my opinion) did not have the same chemistry as they previously had. We need really good black shows but this obviously wasnt one anymore. Best wishes to her and the cast.

"darkness of the show" is exactly right! The mood of the show as well as the lighting exuded darkness. This show had some serious moments on CW but it still remained a comedic sitcom. But on BET the show became downright depressing. In every show there was some drama popping off. And the set itself was dark as if there was not enough good lighting unless the scenes were being filmed outside. I don't understand why the writers needed to dumb down this show so badly. They seemed to want to cater to the "BET crowd" but it was NOT the "BET crowd"that petitioned for this show to come back on the air!!! It was GROWN women that wanted a continuation of this show in same style it was in BEFORE BET picked it up. Yes the writers have screwed this show up bigtime!!!! Honestly, I have not watched this show in months.

honestly, i kind of feel

honestly, i kind of feel betrayed. all of them was able to get a nice lovely "paycheck" after many people including myself supported and faught for the show to stay on air. having projects that have already been filmed doesn't sound like a conflict of interest to me. if you want to be bounce, atleast be honest about. love tia and tamera, but honestly, i won't be supporting anything she does until i get some "honest" answers. they need to cut me a paycheck for supporting and pushing people to hang with the show till the end. sick and tired of being used by these millionaires!

Ok people! Let me bring it to you cause it has not been brought. First of all, Tia has been acting for over 20 yrs. in show business! So yes she should be paid for her time! I think it's SOOOOOO dumb that she left! I'm happy that she's trying new things but at the same time, what's a show without its main characters?!!!! It's cool because the show was going down hill and her baby weight was showing in EVERY episode! She didn't look the same! The show didn't feel the same! Brandy's character is WHACK and stereotypical! I'm glad Tasha found a real man but that's about it. Like everyone else said: THIS GAME IS OVER!!!!!

I am tired of trying to support black shows and they continue to give us bad TV. The Game has NOT been the same since it came to BET. It has been hard to watch but I continue to support it. Now just like Tia, I will not be back for season 6. Game over!!!!
