In case you were wondering what cousin Carlton, aka Alfonso Ribeiro, was up to these days, he just popped the question to his girlfriend, Angela Unkrich.

Alfonso Ribeiro, Will Smith's naive & preppy cousin on "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" and host of Game Show Network's "Catch 21," just got engaged. He posted the above photo to his Facebook page saying:

I got engaged last night to Angela on Lake Tahoe surrounded by our dear friends and my daughter. Greatest day of my life.

Well isn't that special. The two have been living it up in Tahoe all week, as Alfonso tweeted this before his engagement:

Hey everybody. I got engaged tonight to @angiesue224. Greatest day of my life. @23davidjustice and Vince Coleman to enjoy it with us.

David Justice is good friends with Alfonso? Interesting.

Alfonso has a daughter, Sienna, whom he had with ex-wife Robin. Congrats to the couple!

I have yet to understand why

I have yet to understand why (black) men and women throw shade when someone in the community date outside their race. First of all everybody has the right to love who they love as long as that person is not a child. Ladies, if you were feeling a guy, but then found out he was gay you would move on and not ask why he is gay because its a preference, so why hate if that preference is for a non black female?? There are way too many great men out here to worry about the ones who aren't feeling you, focus on the ones who are. Nobody likes a bitter bitch...sorry, but true.

I'm not sure if you missed all of 3rd grade when they went over reading comprehension but thats ok. I always believed that Carlton was/is gay or preferred to date white women. I simply explained that HIS preference is HIS choice and no need for people to judge him or anyone else who dates outside their race. I rather see a black man happy with a white woman then to see a black man in a horrible relationship with a sista and he end up doing her wrong. If god only wanted us to date people that looked like us, we would all look a like.

There are far too many double standards in the Black community. How is it that when a Black woman dates or marries outside of her ethnic group, we, as Black women, celebrate with her (and even suggest that other Black women do the same), yet when a Black man dates or marries outside of his ethnic group, we villainize him and deem him a "sell-out"? Where is the logic in this? And please don't say Black women date non-Black men because: there are "no good Black men around", or that it's because Black men started the 'trend', or that all "good" Black men are either gay, dead or in jail........

That's definitely not true of all black men. And to say they "hate us" is a horrible generalization. I have plenty of black guy friends and some of them date outside their race, but never have I heard them degrade black women. They're just looking for a good time just like everyone else, and if that person they're having a good time with happens to not be black then so be it. I'm not saying that they're not men out there who do exactly what wrote, because there definitely are, but ppl make it seem like this is a pervasive mentality when in reality I know very few black men that think this way. Don't let a few coon celebs that won't be relevant in a few years distort your mind & heart. Peace.
