OLYMPIC STARS BACK AT HOME: Gabby Douglas Gets Hero's Welcome In Virgina Beach + Allyson Felix VISITS The Set Of "SCANDAL"

Gabby Douglas, the first African American to win gold in the all-around for women's gymnastics, received a huge hero's welcome when she landed back home in Virgina Beach yesterday. See the pics inside and see who Olympic sprinter Allyson Felix got to meet in LA recently......

Shown above with her mom Natalie Hawkins, center, and her aunt, far left, and sister Joy, Gabby Douglas returned to her hometown of Virginia Beach after a two-year recently and was greeted by a gaggle of friends, family and fans.

She said, ‘It feels amazing to be home. It's been an amazing journey.’

In addition to a ton of interviews, the superstar is also looking forward to a visit from Oprah, who will be hanging out with her for an upcoming "Oprah's Next Chapter" episode.

In other winner's circle news......

Three time gold medalist track star Allyson Felix visited the set of "Scandal" in her hometown of L.A. She said after winning her first race at the Olympics that she kept her mind clear by watching "Scandal" DVDs in her room in London. So Allyson was invited to hang out on the set with Kerry and the gang.

She was just blessed with a lot of God-giving talent and was given helped by another amazing mom who understands what it means to a child ,to live out their dreams and was willing to give Gabby help along the way! Wow at some of these comments. NOt all "Black" women sit on their a$$es all day and collect a check! I was a single parent with one child (one only and no more by choice) who is 19 yrs of age now! I was on welfare from 1993-1997. I went through the Welfare to Work Program and got a Government job at the Department of Energy which was from 1997-2004 (DOE closed and relocated to New Mexico) And then I was transferred to San Francisco where I have been currently working from 2004 - the present. My point is that there are a lot of single mothers who are doing something positive with their lives. However, I do not agree with how some women have multiple kids while they are still on public aid. There are programs available that with education, transportation, and child care. So what excuse does one have when you have all of that assistance out there?

Some people are plain ignorant. There are so many beautiful, educated and poised black women doing positive things in their communities but that remains to be ignored. Numerous classy black women are notably polished and conduct themselves as such. To name a few: Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Susan Rice, Thelma Gordon and Condoleezza Rice. I, for one, applaud those women and ALL black women trying to make a change in their communities and families. SMH, wow. Gabby went to live with a host family for two years, with a family that happened to be white, so that she could train with Chow. She lived with her family the other 14 years. Her mother got her into gymnastics and paid for it. And God gave Gabby that talent. She had a coach in VA Beach but felt Chow could take her to the next level and he did.
