Meet The Newest Reality Star Who's Stirring Up Controversy: "Real World" Star Marlon Williams Admits To Sex With A Man...But Denies He's Gay OR BiSexual

 photo ScreenShot2013-03-29at41328PM.png

Former Texas Tech football player Marlon Williams, who stars on MTV's "Real World: Portland",  opened up about his budding rapper career and his controversial views on sexuality during his promo rounds.  Meet the preacher's kid inside....

Marlon Williams, one of the stars of MTV's "Real World: Portland", opened up about his life and the interesting back story viewers will see unfold on the show this season.  And to answer the question we know you're asking: No, we didn't know "Real World" still came on.  Hence, why the network seems ready to stir up some controversy.

But alas, a new season is on deck and a black roommate is front and center.  The former Texas Tech footballer player is the son of a preacher man and spent most of his young life traveling as a military brat.  After failing to go "pro" following a successful football stint in college, he went through a period which led to a few interesting choices, including sex with a man. In interviews with XXL and The Advocate, he talks about sexuality, his budding rap career, and explains his views on religion.  Here are the highlights:

The Advocate: OK, this is awkward. MTV tells us “Marlon has had intercourse with a man before and does identify with being bisexual. But he says that he is more attracted to women and doesn't think he would be with a man again.” We could just take their word for it, but we’d rather you tell us yourself how you identify and why.

Marlon Williams: Well, I don't consider myself bisexual, because I'm not sexually attracted to men. I did have sex with a man but my reasoning for it was different. It was in a hectic time of my life filled with fighting a lot of life battles. I was just making a lot of decisions that I would not normally make. At that time in my life the gay community embraced me, and it is one of those things that just happened. I have nothing against people who are bisexual or gay, but that is not my preference.

You’re the son of a preacher and were raised with conservative values. Does that cause conflict for you in terms of your sexuality?

Well, sex in any form is hard, because the beliefs of my parents say that you are supposed to wait for marriage. The big misconception used in religion is that some sin is worse than others. That isn't true. All sin is equal. Therefore, anything I do that is sinful can be forgiven if I repent and make changes. My belief is that God forgives anybody who believes and wants a new start in life.

You were a star football player at Texas Tech and were under a lot of pressure to turn pro. Do you ever resent the way other people put those kind of expectations or dreams on your shoulders?

I feel that people having high expectations of me is a good thing. That means they see great things in your character and motivation. I don't agree with the how people treated me when I didn't meet their expectations, though. It's my life, I'm going to live it the way I want. I'm still the same person. It's just sometimes life throws you curveballs and you have to make adjustments.

What are you working on now?

I’m in the studio a lot. I just performed at SXSW. I’ve opened up for Slim Thug, Z-Ro, Mike Jones, Ying Yang Twins. I’ve been doing it, bro. I’ve got two mixtapes out, you can check them out at www.wavysquad.com. Go get those jams. Actually while we were in Portland recording the show, me and Anastasia, another girl from the show, we did music there. We recorded stuff based on what we were going through out there and our life experiences during “The Real World.” We’re gonna put that out this summer.

"Real World: Portland" airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.  By the way, MTV aired a vintage "Real World" marathon last weekend starting from season 1 in New york.  It reminded us of how great this show used to be.

Who cares? most young females

Who cares? most young females had experiences with other females so why is it ok to not judge them but to judge this guy? We have young females casually talking about how they had another female eat them out or they kissed another female but that's not looked upon as being bisexual really? It is what it is and stop putting yur business out there guy! Judging from what this guy said, it seems as though he was bi curious!!!

Is this the hip/cool thing

Is this the hip/cool thing now? For men to sleep with other men and then deny being homosexual or bisexual. Further blurring of the lines and societal norms. I weep for this generation. There are no longer rules to this thing. Anything goes. Who would want their daughter with someone who is prone to run and sleep with a man when things get "hectic"? The world has gone mad.

denial denial ((sighs))

denial denial ((sighs)) you're gay dude

Black men are a disgrace. If

Black men are a disgrace. If they don't already hate black women over a bunch of childish excuses which really have to do with their mothers, they're going to jail, gay or killing each other. Let all the white and latinas have them and deal with the future headaches and guaranteed shameful behavior.

I got news for you. Don't put

I got news for you. Don't put this on black males. White, black, and Hispanics all do the same bullshit. Every time you turn around there is a white Congressman or white preacher getting busted for male on male action. So stop the black male bashing. People do all kind of fucked up things to get a nut. Sex is an addiction. Sex is also an act. Preferences don't matter to addicts.

you have such a narrow mind

you have such a narrow mind and you are also very ignorant! its not right to generalize people when you haven't meant all people !!!!! maybe the men you attract into your life have to do with your negative attitude, what you put out to the universe is what you receive back!!

You don't know me from a can

You don't know me from a can of paint so please stop trying the psycho flip to personalize this on a darn gossip blog. This isn't Huffington Post. Ignorance is still supporting a group that hates you. I'm referring to all the ignorant trash online that degrades black women daily, black athletes and rappers who also follow suit. And please don't lecture me about generalizations when you should see the horrible things they say about us routinely and to others. Truth be told you don't even see black men who don't fall in those categories stepping up to protect or defend us publicly from all the hateful things so they might as well be considered to be in agreement. I have no more sympathy for the black man because they have no love or respect for us no matter how decent we are or what their mamas look like. I'm done caring about whatever happens to them. I see alot of it as karma for treating us like crap then turning around and blaming us or publicly degrading us. You can play Captain or Madame Save a Negro.... go right ahead. In the meantime, it's my opinion and you will not guilt me down from it.

Black men are looking weaker

Black men are looking weaker everyday...we all have tough times but does that mean we nvm
cutethatsall56's picture

I would be very interested to

I would be very interested to hear your explanation on why he "appears weak" for talking about being bisexual. To me black men look weaker for much more important reasons like making multiple kids that they don't take care of emotionally or financially, or ending up in jail because of the poor choices they make. I don't think this young man is weak because it took at least of modicum of strength to come forward with this info considering the ignorance of people who would make statements like yours.
Santi114's picture

It's weak because instead of

It's weak because instead of having self control he indulged in an act that was sinful. With him giving interviews promoting this act as if its the thing to do it gives other young black males the thought that if they have a crises in their life they should turn to anal sex instead of fighting through it by prayer and God's will. Those other things you mentioned are also weak.
cutethatsall56's picture

this statement right

this statement right here...is everything.
TrueThinker's picture

And you presume to know this

And you presume to know this how exactly; same sex love, attraction or sexual activity makes one weak? What is your definition of strength anyway? Sexuality is as diverse as any other human characteristic , this is a historic and scientific fact not opinion. Even if he is homosexual, bisexual or hetero. Why is this viewed as a pejorative ? Your stance certainly speaks to your narrow mindedness and lack of exposure.

Yes I do when it's done to

Yes I do when it's done to help you pass through a hard time in your life. That's like saying I'm turning to crack because I was going through a lot. Like it or not it is a sin just like fornication, or murder. The best thing to do is to pray and hold to God's unchanging hand. This man isn't even gay, he's promoting gay sex in times of weakness. That's weak as fuk. This whole generation of black men are toast.
