Lil Wayne Has To Cough Up $160K To David Banner….On His Birthday! + Wayne's Big Victory In Birdman Lawsuit
Lil Wayne’s Young Money label lost a lawsuit against David Banner! And now Weezy's been ordered to pay up….on his birthday. Deets inside…
Rapper turned activist David Banner just won a lawsuit against Lil Wayne and his Young Money label. And now, he will reportedly be paid more thank $160,000.
Legal documents obtained by TMZ say Banner did production work on Tha Carter III and We Are Young Money and never got paid. He said he’s owed at least $150,000.
Since Young Money failed to respond to the lawsuit, the judge “entered the default of $164,303.19, which includes interest.” Now, Weezy's gotta pay the man for his services!
Welp. That’s how the cookie crumbles.
Wayne’s legal woes hit the headlines on his 34th birthday today. But, there’s also some good news for Mr. Carter.
He just won a small victory in his ongoing battle against Birdman and his $51 million lawsuit. A judge has reportedly ruled that Birdman has 30 days to cough up the receipts to the money that was promised to Wayne ($10 million from $70 million of an advance from Universal for Tha Carter V). Birdman’s lawyers served up $20,000 pages worth of “documents,” but apparently they left no money trail. Therefore, it’s still unclear what Birdman spent the money on.
As we reported ... Birdman's lawyers say they've already forked over more than 20,000 pages of docs to Wayne's legal team. But Wayne's attorneys claim those are useless, and they want a full-on money trail.
Here's the problem for Birdman -- his peeps over at Cash Money weren't keeping very good track of those records ... for 2 whole years. Birdman's lawyer shrugged it off this way ... "It is what it is."
That excuse didn't fly with the judge ... who gave Birdman 30 days to find those records, or get the right person who knows where they are and get 'em to Wayne.
Victory for Weezy.
