Columbus Short is a free man after a short 34 days in jail on a 1-year sentence. Find out why he was behind bars (you likely already know), plus get the deets on the Weinstein Company owing Malia Obama some coinage inside…

Columbus Short has had his fair share of run ins with the law. Quite a few actually.

But, he just lucked up in one of his “situations.”

The ex-“Scandal” star was reportedly released from jail after serving 34 days on a one-year jail sentence. The reason he was behind bars? He allegedly assaulted his new wife, Aida Abramyan. According to reports, Aida accused him of hitting her during in argument in November 2017.

He plead no contest to the domestic violence charges and was sentenced to 36-months probation and domestic violence education. However, since he was already on probation for a vicious bar fight that went down in 2014, the judge sentenced him to a year in jail for violating his probation.

Columbus went in the slammer of February 13th and was released from the L.A. County Jail Monday night (March 19th). According to TMZ, he was released from jail due to overcrowding.

After his release, he hoped on Instagram to announce he’s home and popped off on the haters:

Photogs spotted him out and about in L.A. following his release. He was spotted yesterday trekking through the streets as well.

This isn't Columbus' first domestic violence situation. In 2014, he was charged with domestic violence for assaulting his now ex-wife/daughter's mother Tanee McCall. He allegedly held a knife to her throat. The charges were later dismissed and Tanee filed for divorce (for the third time).

The Weinstein Company has filed for bankruptcy after Harvey Weinstein's sexual assault scandal(s), but they still owe folks some cash, including former First Daughter Malia Obama. They also owe thousands of creditors and several Hollywood actors and actresses which are listed in the company’s 394-page list in the bankruptcy filing.

The 19-year-old Harvard student is owed some money after she was a summer intern at The Weinstein Company in 2017, right before the scandal broke. Some of the celebrities owed money include Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, Robert De Niro, David Bowie, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Bay, Daniel Radcliffe, Seth Rogen, Heidi Klum, as well as frequent Weinstein collaborators Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith.

The amounts the Weinstein Co. owes are not specified in the letter. The company's bankruptcy filings list between $500,000,001 and $1 billion in liabilities, and the same range for assets.

Sheesh!  Give Malia her coins!
