Weekend Fab
Last night YBF folks were out in full force at the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference Gala:
Fab chick Kerry Washington was there to accept the CBC person of the year award for her constant social activism and so was Jesse Jackson. Several other celebs like Kym Whitley, Holly Robinson and Rodney Peete, Barack and Michelle, and others were there too. More pics of those folks to come later. Kerry looked even more fabulous in person and she stopped by my table to chat and say she’s still a YBF fan. Kudos to that. The event was star packed and Barack gave an incredible speech while accepting the Harold Washington award. And all that free flowing wine didn’t hurt either…
Congrats to the Chair and President of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (she also happens to be my fabulous aunt), Dr. Elsie Scott, and the rest of the CBCF crew for such a fab event. And shout out to all the MANY YBF fans I met during this weekend’s events.

The stars of “The Game” and others hit up the show’s red carpet premiere yesterday:
Terri Vaughn looked cute and laid back with her hubby in tow. I still can’t believe she just had a baby.
Rick Fox hit the carpet.
So did Pooch Hall, Hosea Sanchez, and Shanti Lowry.
NFL baller Marcellus Wiley hit the event.
And Wendy Raquel Robinson hit the carpet too.
And “The Game”’s creator Mara Brock Akil hit the carpet showing off her preggers belly and her hubby. Congrats Mara!
Queen latifah and Nick Cannon and others hit up the Angel City Classic event in LA:
Oh hey there Gabby. Long time no see. Sidenote–is anyone else happy for no reason that Queen brought back the asymmetrical bob form the early 90’s?
Flo rida performed at the event.
Gabs kicked it with Akon too.
And Angie Stone was there.
And so were Anthony Hamilton and Debbie Allen. Fun times.

I could be wrong, but I believe queen latifah, flo rida, and gabby union were at a different event down here in Florida (not in LA). It was in support of breast cancer research and I thought that queen did a small performance. The news down here made a big deal about all of the celebs that showed up.

I was able to attend the CBC gala and it was great to see so many powerful Black people coming together to celebrate one another. Patti Labelle performed, and I also spotted Wendell Primus from the Wire. He also attended the party at the Newseum that was basically the party of the year!

Salim and Mara AKIL are the most gorgeous and grounded couple in Hollywood!! I have the honor to know then and they are beautiful in and out. I know their second baby will be just as fantastic as their first born.
