Just last week I put money on it that at least 10% of the $80 mil Beyonce made last year was from the worth of her wig crypt. And then a report comes out today saying Beyonce’s custom wigs are worth over a million dollars. Not quite 10%, but dammit y’all catch my drift. According to Showbiz Digital Spy:
A wig collection belonging to Beyoncé Knowles has been estimated to cost $1 million (£550,000).
According to In Touch, the singer has tailor-made hair-pieces for every occasion.
A friend told the magazine: “The majority of them are custom-made from real hair and she’s probably got $1 million worth of stunning wigs.
“It’s part of the reason why she always looks so gorgeous.”
Knowles is said to donate her old wigs to a charity which helps cancer sufferers.
I know nothing would brighten up my day more than a 30 inch long curly blond lacefront. You know you love it.

Mon, September 29, 2008 3:39 PM
2nd!
u know what really pisses me off is that beyonce is the face of feria (along with all the other chicks in the commercial who are wearing wigs) how can you be supposedly endorsing a hair dye when you are wearing wigs and quite obviously have never touched the stuff. that stuff fries up your hair and does not make it look gorgeous like beyonce’s weave. and dont even get me started on these chick’s in the mascara commercials who are all wearing 8-inch long false lashes. they really must think we are dumb
Mon, September 29, 2008 3:39 PM
Wow a milli on some hair! It aint that damn serious! I am just saying…..

It’s her money! B#tch earned it….Hah!

As long as she gives more to charity than the cost of her wig collection (which she does) who cares? How ya’ll think she stay changing hair color, length, texture, and styles? Those damn lacefronts are expensive as hell, though!

I’m sorry, I know I’ll probably start something, but I have to say it anyways. I hate these “slave to a relaxer” comments on here all the time. Just because a woman get s relaxer, wears weave, or a wig doesn’t make her a “slave” to anything and it doesn’t mean she’s trying to “be like Becky”. I have a relaxer (though I don’t do weave or wigs) and I do it because I don’t like the way a fro would look on me, NOT BECAUSE I WANT SILKY HAIR! Beyonce does have a nice length of hair, but if you had to style your hair with all those chemicals to hold it all the time, you’d be bald. Why NOT wear a lacefront to protect your natural hair (because Bey stopped getting perms years ago which is why she started wearing lacefronts–so her hair could get back right and she wouldn’t have to ruin it again with the dying, styling, etc)

I can go from a blond afro to a red feather, a black bob, and so on, I love the hair freedom we have these days. I’d love to have a glimpse into the wig crypt

No cattiness here at all simply responding to your post and the misperception that I am knocking anyone for their choices of what works for them. Ladies, I permed my hair my whole life, then about 5 years ago I stopped and just started flat ironing it. Guess what? It looks like I perm it because after so long your hair gets used to whatever products you use. It’s super healthy, has grown out past my back and people always ask me what kind of perm I have or if I have a weave in my hair, it’s that thick and healthy. So I had every woman in my family stop and after about 9 months of letting your hair get used to no chemicals, the same thing happened to them. I didn’t do nothing special either, just a good shampoo and conditioner and blow drying and flat ironing (not every day though, get real).

Believe me my stylist hated me when I did it cause my hair has always been long and thick, but it really wasn’t no work at all, he flat ironed it and I ran off and came back the next week and he did it all over again. So really I didn’t do any work myself (LOL). My point is do whatever works for you, flat iron, wig it, perm it, whatever. I just think without a perm, my hair looks the best it ever has, I save money on the perm and get my hair done more.

I’ve never had a perm and my hair is the same way. I flat iron it to get it straight but in the summer I rock it naturally curly. It’s too hot to be spending all the time flat ironing your hair then sweat it out or it be frizzy. What’s a good hair product for frizz? I’m still searching!
I heard john frieda products are really nice
girl, they don’t work. tried them all! LOL!!!!
oh oki!!! I think you should try Mis jessie’s products. if you go to the website, you have different techinques to get nice, clear curls! you should try!

I agree, in the summer I throw some KeraCare leave in conditioner on it and go curly. That stuff is the bomb. I don’t get alot of frizz, but if I do I use a K-Pak serum and that does the trick. With the flat ironing, I do it only once a week, I have a few iterations of styles because I don’t wear it straight, so I do a top knot at night instead of wrapping, in the morning shake it out and its wavy and bodied. Loves it.

is she really bald or something? and most of the times her hair doesnt even look good. The hair isnt worth the money if we can tell that you are wearing wigs…
I am dying to see what her REAL hair looks like!
Go on youtube and find videos of her in the studio. She’s usually wearing her own hair then. But, not the documentary because she had a lacefront and makeup on. I mean look for her without makeup, and it’ll probably be her real hair. I saw a vid of her and it seemed to be hers.

Miss Jessie’s products are a little on the heavy side though so you may not want to use too much
did you say that was $58 a bottle? that’s a tank of gas. times is hard! I can’t do it. LOL!!!
I tried to call their salon to get my hair done over there and guess what, its a texturizer?? they charge you like 300 dollars to get it done! so i decide to get a regular perm! Im so mad at me now cause i had a big fro and now,i can fell my big hair no more! :(
Damn I wished you would have asked somebody before wasting your time calling them. My cousin went to them and got something called a silkener which was a glorified perm. Glad I never went I just use their products
Well, I agree with every word you said. I have a nice length of hair (past my shoulders) but I will be damned if I didn’t wear a weave sometimes. Sometimes, I like to have the thickness of the weave and the weave gives your natural hair a break from all of the styling, blow drying, flat ironing, relaxing and all the other things u do to your hair. I also put relaxers on my hair—not because I want to be white—but because it’s easier to manage and it looks nicer. I don’t do relaxers that often because they are unhealthy but I do them…well my beautician does it. Beyonce has the money to have a $1 mil wig collection and it also keeps her natural hair healthy. It’s shame how some of us are looked down upon by our own race because we choose to do our hair differently. THAT’S THE BEAUTIFUL THING ABOUT BLACK HAIR!! There is ssssoooo much we can do with our hair…We don’t just have to “shake it and go” like Becky!

Mon, September 29, 2008 4:55 PM
lmao @ this.
So because Beyonce spends 1 million dollar on wigs…that she happens to donate to charity…she should also be paying tuition for those who live in the “hood”. Ohhh k. It’s her job to put everyone through college, that has no relation to her whatsoever. LMAO. She gives to charity…now she has to pay for everyone’s tuition. haha. Though that is alot she spends on wigs, she performs in countries worldwide, is on ton of red carpet events, not to mentions videos, t.v appearances. She’s an entertainer watched 24/7. She just wants to be at the top of her game. Some ppl spend their money on lots of houses, cars, wardrobe..she likes wigs. lol. She has some fierce ones at that.
FYI…Jayz didn’t even come out at Beyonce’s show in N.Y. and he was on like three songs. He came out in L.A because that’s when the taping was. I’m sure New Yorkers were quite salty, but maybe that’s why she came out for that one. Why come all the way to Houston when all she did was walk across the stage at his show in N.Y?? She didn’t sing or anything in N.Y, just did a brief cameo.Their shows go on without the other, even when u are wishing for them to come out. I can see why you were hopin tho.
Mon, September 29, 2008 4:56 PM
Who gives a rats aSS…about Beyonce 1 million dollar wig collection…..if she could turn that hair into GAS and give that away…..It would matter to me……and I think they threw in she gives the wigs to cancer patient’s, So people would not talk negative about how much her wigs are worth.
Mon, September 29, 2008 5:00 PM
Someone always has to be negative. Whatever, if she wants to overindulge in wigs, she has the money to do so. Other rich MFs buy houses, cars, etc. She can spend her hard earned money on whatever she wants. If I had all the money she had, I would have a wig collection that was about that much too. She looks damn nice with those lakefronts whether if she donates them or not.

There is nothing wrong if you DO want silky straight hair. People need to let that weave wig diss go, It’s so 1989, it’s all about looking your best with what God and man gave you. I’m fine when I roll out of bed, but I’m glamorous with my lashes, mineral make-up and yes my weave on that stuff doesn’t make me, it’s just an enhancement.
I AGREE….if your a diva like b then u dont need the weaves or fake nails eyelash etc, but it goes along with her image, she cant be rockin on stage in a baby fro, just wouldnt look right….its her hair/head, and if she wanted 2 spend 3million, its her money…if u dont like makeup/weaves, simply dont wear it but dont try to knock someone else cause they do, not every1 wants 2 b a plain jane!

I love a good weave, but seriously ladies what kind of message is Beyonce sending out to her future daughters? What kind of message are African women sending to young African girls. Does the mentality ‘white hair is the right hair’ empower black girls? No! Why do we hate our hair? Oh I’ll tell you why, the damn media and white society have brainwashed us and our ancestors for centuries, into believing our natural hair is unacceptable because it’s unattractive, and out-right hideous! Makes me sad, when will we learn to love and accept ourselves? Please no1 try and compare wearing wigs to tanning or having cosmetic surgery. Surgery generally enhances what you already have, wigs are an attempt to cover up what you don’t want. Wigs are also an attempt to look more like white women. Beyonce, Tyra, Janet, Mary J…they’re all guilty of it! Shame on all of us
Tue, September 30, 2008 6:00 AM
Oooops forgot to quote “unattractive” and “hideous”. Our hair is neither of these things. Afro hair is unique and beautiful when treated

So Beyonce wearing wigs is causing all this destruction in the black community.
People blame everything on this woman. Please tell me you have no relaxers in your hair. You are getting a P.HD in Black Studies, and know everything it means to be black. Please tell me that you don’t go to any type of concerts or stage plays where women and men use wigs, and makeup. Come on now. Ppl have selective memory when it comes to Beyonce. Her wearing wigs on her head has nothing to do with self hate, but choice. Now if Beyonce came out of her mouth and said she hates her hair then yes. But people are trying to attribute everything negative to her because she chooses to wear weave in her hair.
I know everything you do isn’t down for the “cause” my sister. You also said something about, there’s nothing wrong with cosmetic surgery, but there’s something wrong with wearing weave. GTFOH. So there’s nothing wrong with distorting your body, but it’s something wrong with wearing a weave that you can take off. Cosmetic surgery is causing permanent changes to your body, messing with the features you were given. With a weave you can take it out, rock your natural hair. Do whatever. Keep in mind we ONLY see Beyonce when she’s PROMOTING something, or when she’s out and about. You don’t see her on her down times. You would be the same one up in here dogging her hair if it was in a plane jane hairstyle. Yet you’re boycotting a gossip blog over it. GTFOH.
Tue, September 30, 2008 10:03 AM
Why do I keep coming back…and no I wouldn’t be dogging a ‘plain jane hairstyle’ and yes I do see something wrong with cosmetic surgery and this post WAS about Beyonce who is striving to be the ICON for this generation..do you know what that means, bascially the standard so ofcourse these coments are relevant to her.
Whatever weave heads, the ones who get it will get it. And everything I do is for MY CAUSE..to be the best human that God intended me to be, recognizing that no mistakes were made when he made me and nurturing every aspect of my being in a healthy, balanced manner. That’s my cause.
This blog used to have good discussions now it is just a fawn fest where nothing of substance is discussed, substantial discussions are labeled “hater” etc..
The people who get it got it, those you don’t, well history often repeats itself, ie. Nero.

Oh, and comeon…weaves on babies, kids…that was something else that wasn’t happening in ‘old 89′ those horrible years…Get a clue, I had to rebut but my brain can’t stand this and it is NO WONDer that we gets NO RESPECT…it does have to be earned and it can’t be masquerading as everyone else but yourself and without making a sound investment in what really matters…you mind, spirit and soul….but nixxas just want instant gratificaiton, to ‘look GOOOD’ which is always determined by someone else..you know the old monkey see monkey do syndrome, no brain, no evaluation..put something in front of a nixxa, tell him its the ish and he will follow..even to his demise, bald spots, no hair line, thinning hair..and ofcourse nixxa gon lie..oh it helps my hair..whatever nixxas.
PEACE and HAIR GREASE!
GTFOH.

Nero.
All I can say is WOW!!!! and not in a positive light, If you feel something is the source of a problem, talking down, and belittlement aren’t the way to change it, set an example. Then people may actually listen to you, and hear what you have to say. If you don’t read or fully comprehend what others are saying how can you expect them to give you the same respect. My take on weaves, Make-up, Wigs, Braids, and cosmetic surgery: I’ve had them all Damn proud of it, I like the way I look, we live in a world where if you don’t like something you can change it, be it your appearance, democracy, education, anything. I have naturally long hair, I wanted to try out short hair before cutting my hair and got a weave to see how I would like it, and fell in love with the versatility a weave or wig can do, I have “good” hair where Braids slip out, I think they are beautiful and wanted some badly, i’ve gotten them, they fell right out my hair, but heck they were cute for the month they stayed in. I’ve died my hair before Jet Black, brown with blonde highlights and red, and yes it can break out your hair if you don’t take care of it, so I got a weave while nursing my hair back to health. My weave is the same texture as my hair and prior length to where most cant tell I even have one. As far Cosmetic surgery, YOU DAMN RIGHT I’ve had some!!!! and will do it again if i so damn ell please you don’t have to look at me naked I DO! and I don’t like my stomach rolling over my jeans creating a muffin top, I like my shirts to look normal over my pants. It has nothing to do with what others have it has to do with what I want at the moment. Shit I have purple and green streaks that i can clip on into my hair when I feel like it. Does that mean I want to be a cartoon character? If that’s not your choice so be it, but putting others down for their choice seems like it goes against everything you say you stand for “shallowest, superificialist, self hating” As for “I guess its true that black women are a huge part of the problem within the black community as you all are too busy trying to enhance yourself to look like others rather than focusing on important issues.” sorry to break it to you but there’s barely any black women in the cosmetic surgery offices, White women love weaves and wear them often, you may not notice but they do from everyday women to Celine Dion, so…… come again? and this isn’t a blog about the worlds issues, that might just be a reason no one is focusing on them in THIS blog, THIS blog is called YOUNG BLACK and FABULOUS, and we discuss just that!!!! This post was about BEYONCE so we discuss just that, go thru the archives and look at a post regarding political and world issues on this site and others for those discussions! Lastly please don’t bring God into your argument, I highly doubt God intended for you to call people “Nixxa’s”, you said “everything I do is for MY CAUSE..to be the best human that God intended me to be” might I remind you that your statements on here are part of “everything you do”

Ok, so many people worship this girl. Namely, those who are calling othes “haters” for not liking everything about her, and everything about her.
Listen people, Weaveoncé is just a little girl who can sing. We all know that she has a very limited vocabulary and when she does speak everything is about being beautiful and amazing. Well, since she speaks of natural beauty so much and how being a black woman is so great and that she makes music for black people, then why is it that she can not take off the wigs and weaves. Yes, people do wear them when they are on stage. However, when they are on stage they are at work. Why then is she wearing the wigs on and of work. Natural beauty means that you are natural and not fake- like when you wear fake hair such as wigs and weaves.
A lot of Black Americans really have a problem (and Yes I am black- and Yes I am light skinned so dont get into the hater mode and Yes I am beautiful so dont even try it) Why is it that a lot of you people cannot put down the weave. When you cannot put down the weave it is really shameful. U clearly do not love yourself. Why not just go find a white man or an chiny man or an indian man to breed you so that maybe just maybe your offspring will weave-like hair- hair that they can be proud of and inturn we can genetically phase out the afro. This is really shameful that Black People cannot love themselves. You love this girl -why ? Cuz she can afford custom made wigs ? or is it because of her European features ? Anyway, the lesson to be learned is that instead of picking up her cd (intellect my backside) you should pick up the timeless cd ‘As I Am’ pleasae allow Alicia, who can rock her own hair, teach you something about love, loving yourself and loving others as they are. Please dont focus solely on booty shaking and markeing schemes. Why do you love someone that doesnt love you. Use Ur BRAIN> or are you a markerters fool. Matthew Knowles and Shawn really think that you guys are dumb. Are they right ?

I LOVE Alicia as much as the next, but isn’t she sleeping with a married man? No matter what Beyonce does (wear wigs/weave, etc) it isn’t worse than that! I’d rather AK wear weave and wigs than to sleep with someone’s HUSBAND! And Alicia is half white so she has those same European features you claim Bey’s trying to get by wearing fake hair. Unfortunately, she’s as big as she is because she’s marketable for being light skinned with long hair and European features, not because she has talent (even though she does). So, I guess you’re as dumb as the “marketers fool” you think the people you addressed are.

What losers.
Fawning over white or indian women’s hair. And to the BUFFOON talking about Beyonce born with blonde hair, are you retarded, go and look at her pictures, her hair is brown by any standard except a damaged mind, even people with a learning disability, retardation wouldn’t look at her pictures from her youth (particularly the one when she is standing with her mom in a dress) and say that that color is blonde.
Adios Ybf, im too good for this site. I guess its true that black women are a huge part of the problem within the black community as you all are too busy trying to enhance yourself to look like others rather than focusing on important issues. I just knew that the conversation in this post would be differentbut lo and behold a fawn fest by morons. Sad that you all are the keepers, like myself as a female, of the black race.
I can’t even bring myself to comment on the bullshit you just allowed your fingers to type. If you, as a black woman, can honestly think so lowly of your fellow sisters, by all means…GET YOUR SELF HATING, BULLSHIT ESSAY WRITING ASS OUT OF HERE BECAUSE WE DON’T NEED THAT! In regards to your blonde comment, I was the one who said MY GOD SISTERS had blonde hair, NOT BEYONCE. And the other girl was talking about Bey’s stans making excuses for her sarcatically. Before you shit talk, read!
SOUTHERN QUEEN PEA BRAIN…the world thinks so LOWLY of US as we think so LOWLY of ourselves. YOUR mentality is what is killiing US and again, YOU ARE NO SISTER OF MINE..fawning over some other woman’s HAIR. YOU AIN”T MY SISTER..LIke Zora Neale Hurston so poignantly put it…ALL my SKIN FOLKS AIN’T MY KIN FOLKS..yall are nixxas not proud BLACK QUEENS…go on with your nixxa fest.
Pea Brain? WOW! My mother always told me when you fight people with INTELLECT and they can’t respond with it, they resort to name calling. Poor baby! If you claim you don’t know me since I’m no sister of yours, how can you say my mentality is what’s wrong with our community? Now, if you would have actually taken the time to scroll and read my original comment, you’d know I wasn’t “fawning” over Beyonce or her hair. I was UPLIFTING MY FELLOW SISTER FOR THE PEOPLE WHO TRY TO DOWN HER FOR WEARING FAKE HAIR BECAUSE IT’S NOT SELF HATE. It’s not like she said she wears it because she hates her hair or because she isn’t black like Tracy Bingham does. You don’t have to think I’m your sister, but I will continue to think you are mine because I LOVE all black women and will LOVE them no matter what. However, I will criticize you. How is it you can say “BLACK QUEEN” and ni**a fest in the same sentence? That doesn’t make you a black queen, either, in my opinion. But, you’re still a black woman whom I LOVE. Have a nice day!

Wow this discussion got so out of hand….. I just read through the whole thing & all I can say is WOW. I don’t care about Beyonce or her wigs…. It’s her [bad] business.

Since when has Beyonce wearing a weave been the cause of the world or anyone else destruction or downfall. Almost every black woman in the industry wears a weave or wigs but do we tear them down no that part is overlooked. I’m so tired of black woman thinking it’s self hate or trying to be white because you want a weave when that is so far from the truth. I have a bob and I wear pieces in mine all the time just for a different look or the fullness of it. At the same time when I get ready I take it out and I’m happy either way. That is her money she worked damn hard for it and if these rappers can spend all there money on stupid things then she can damn well spend her hard earned money on whatever she wants the same as we spend ours without getting critisized on what we want. And Jellisa you need some help honey talking all that nonsense you are so far from the truth and it’s really sad that you feel that way. Do you go on Perez Hilton on TMZ lecturing the white folks cause if you beleive that about us I can’t imagine what you would have to say to them with all there weaves, makeup and surgeries.
