Actually, it was a link on link on the magazine’s website…I believe its still up too. I didnt want to get banned so I didn’t post it. You can go to essence’s website and put the backslash and the word anniversary after the web address. You can get 3 years for $15 and 2 years for $10. They even take paypal! I am an avid Essence reader and subscriber and it’s about time for a Bey cover. However I am always disappointed in the feature articles I never seem to learn more about the cover girl. The articles lack depth, but the pictures are nice.

That was gunna be my name but my mom opted for something German instead lol but Beyonces the new type of enterainer and lets face it, nowadays, chicks coming out can’t hold a note and as you wrote, need 500 dancers and whatnot. She is an entertainer and the game has changed and evolved since the days of Chaka and Patti…they still put on great shows too but Bey puts on a show that you expect from a 27 year old entertainer, not an 27 year old singer (i.e. Ashanti…walking and singing and rolling out of breath holler “oh Baby!!”…lol) all she needs is a mic but who wants to see her standing there for 2 hours, hell, I don’t. For what some of these artists are charging hell they need to be giving out togo plates…lol. I can say first hand that she puts on a fantastic show.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Back when she was promoting B’Day she was on the cover of Essence and the cover quote was “Beyonce: On Surviving Life in the spotlight and why Jay Z is the only one for her”. And that article did not have ANYTHING in it. There is a quote up on Essence right now where she said “What Jay and I have is real…” and I would bet good money that is the ONLY line in that interview pertaining to him. People are getting worked up when the article probably doesn’t say anything that we don’t already know. We know they are married so we already know what they have is real. I don’t know what folks are expecting to see, but I guarantee it won’t be wedding pictures or her dress or anything the public doesn’t already know.

With my first the minute I started getting cramps I asked for the drugs! My twins were by c-section I got those drugs immediately also!

Examples: The National Anthem 2004, She performed 3 times in one night the Oscars with stellar vocals and no dancers of course, Fashion Rocks 2008 (At Last), Grammy’s 2004 (excellent, Grammy’s 2008 with Tina Turner, Grammy’s Performance with Prince the same year that was nominated for one of the best Grammy moments, Oprah 2008 (Dreamgirls) when she performed a stellar version of Listen, any of DC’s performances of Emotions. The entire The Beyonce Experience concert showcased great vocals as well, with and without dancers. LIVE BAND and all. So even though you aren’t a fan, it is hard to put up the argument that Beyonce has a less than mediocre voice. Because from what I know it takes a great voice to be able to ENTERTAIN, all singers should strive to entertain (isn’t that why they perform). A stellar voice can sing and dance effortlessly, and be able to stand and sing as Beyonce does.
Even if you don’t like the music, there’s no proof that her voice is less than mediocre. There are too many live performances, too many concert reviews, television performance reviews, and LEGENDS who say otherwise.

On topic..lol. That should be an interesting article. Can’t wait to pick it up! I would be very surprised if she mentions the wedding in detail. Essence might have put that up there even if she said one sentence. lol. But it is a magazine they have competition so why not advertise that.

LOL @ blog publicists and blog wars. I don’t really see a war or going hard either. What I wrote back is lengthy due to me typing fast and bringing up a lot of points. But how is that any different than someone going off in long paragraphs about having babies, and all the other extra personal ish that’s on here. What do you call that? I’m all for giving advice, but a few people in here need publicists and to learn proper self discolosure.In my opinion if someone posts something that is highly disputable in long paragraph form,then ppl should be able to respond back with facts and opinions. I so love B, and I can’t wait for this new music I’m hearing about. However, I don’t like that cover at all. I have never been a fan of Essence covers though. Even though her album is about to drop I still don’t believe Beyonce would suddenly get long-winded about her wedding, hell, she been tight-lipped about it all this time. The point I was trying to make before all sorts of people started diving head first in my convo, was that it is not all that serious. This is a goddamn shame. People say she can’t sing? Go on Youtube look a the performance of Dangerously in Love in ATL on the a Destiny’s Child tour and then tell me she can’t sing! This industry has become pathetic.She may wear wigs and seem to have a bland personality now but she is good at what she does. I don’t see anyone out currently that can SING and perform like her you may not like it but I bet you can’t do it. The title “I am Legend” is rather amusing in that Beyonce is an attractive hard working “entertainer” but not a legend in any sense of the word. I think that lately, when it comes to Beyonce, there is a lot of the “yes, yes, yes” going on that can lead to an overinflated ego and delusions of grandeur. Putting the words legend and iconic out there does not make it true or fact. She has not earned either distinction - yet.

I am not a “hater” at all. I like to see women and men succeed, prosper and be the very best they can be. It’s a beautiful thing. I just don’t like the manipulations.

I would love if she could drop an album the same day as Justin, Christina, and SHakira and I want to see who is the number one in sales. She will probably beat out Shakira and that’s it.

Shakira is innately sexy and Beyonce is so forced. Check out Beautiful Liar video and see how hard Beyonce tries to compete with Shakira. Now that is not sexy- just contrived.
She didnt have her on the record for any other reason than to be like oh yah we look alike (wrong your wig looks like her natural hair). and to show fans of Shakira that she is also sexy and alluring and that they are so similar. I was shocked that Shakira even did that video with Beyonce. heopefully it helped Shakira’s career cuz I really like her and think that she is really smart and an overall good package who is not contrived at all and she is truly humble. Not like fake humble beyonce. Wow such disdain. Fans she’s ok, but at least see the truth. I respect all the bloggers who can say I like her songs, but still can comment on the stupidity of the interview and see through the album promo bullshit. I used to be a huge Kanye fan and when he pulled that garbage with 50 I did not purchase the album because I will not allow myself to be exploited by celebrities so that they can go and brag about how much money they have so while they are adding we should be buying and subtracting.

Yawn..what interview. Beyonce reveals nothing about her marriage to Jay-Z in the issue. The cover is just hype to get you to buy the mag. In the interview she jus talks about how much she is NOT going to speak about the marriage. Yawn.
I give up on her. she’s too boring for me.
Pretty face. great voice but no personality that’s why it so hard for her to transcend as a believable actress.

Beyonce and Jay Z are very rich and famous. But due to the present financial situation of the country people are now watching their spending so the brand that Jay Z and Beyonce have built between the two is not like before. My advise to me if they truly love their fans they will reduce some of their expensive prices on their clothing and music products or risk the lost of sales. With home foreclosures and 401K investments dropping steadily that couple is not at the top of my list for anything.

Why are magazines paying Beyonce for nothing??? I’m sure Essence paid top dollar for that interview and it’s the same rhyme and riddle. Maybe if people stop asking them about their marriage, having children etc. then maybe they will then see no one really cares anymore and act like normal people. They want their privacy so we need to give it to them.
Don’t buy their music!
Don’t buy their clothing!
Don’t go to see their movies!
Don’t buy their tour or concert tickets!
Then we will see how much they start opening up in interviews. What nerve you want your fan support but don’t want to support your fans curious minds.

Well outside of the Beyonce article, the most interesting and enlightening article in this issue was the one on child brides. Worth a reading! And if you don’t buy the issue for anything else you should buy it for this article.
