Well I wanted to dismiss her for her comment, but the Med. Director said that wouldn’t be fair without providing her appropriate training in culture and diversity. Sooooo, I’m going to do an inservice here in about 2 weeks for the staff; But I’m going to reassign her to a health dept in the city, in the Hood, for 6 weeks to fully immerse her into an environment she has difficulty relating & understanding.

The problem with the system is very demographic. Most Blacks go to their local Health Dept which is usually staffed by blacks. Wealthy areas black or white don’t have health depts. (at least not with doctors, dental, shots, Wic etc.) But when you have a combined population and socio-economic mix it is usually staffed by YT’s or the predominate race in that area. Hence I’m the only person of color in the building, - minus the Housekeeper (who wore her Obama shirt under her uniform cuz she was so happy & asked me if she was going to get a raise)

The problem with the system is very demographic. Most Blacks go to their local Health Dept which is usually staffed by blacks. Wealthy areas black or white don’t have health depts. (at least not with doctors, dental, shots, Wic etc.) But when you have a combined population and socio-economic mix it is usually staffed by YT’s or the predominate race in that area. Hence I’m the only person of color in the building, - minus the Housekeeper (who wore her Obama shirt under her uniform cuz she was so happy & asked me if she was going to get a raise)

The problem with the system is very demographic. Most Blacks go to their local Health Dept which is usually staffed by blacks. Wealthy areas black or white don’t have health depts. (at least not with doctors, dental, shots, Wic etc.) But when you have a combined population and socio-economic mix it is usually staffed by YT’s or the predominate race in that area. Hence I’m the only person of color in the building, - minus the Housekeeper (who wore her Obama shirt under her uniform cuz she was so happy & asked me if she was going to get a raise)

I agree with you on that. He thought he was the man because he was doing his thing and I think he was shocked as hell by how people responded to him on the TJMS. He thought more people would have sided with him on the issue. But you are right…we as a community must stop trying to be ‘the only one’ and learn to embrace each other’s successes.

Girl i was too fine that night! Me and one of my friendgirls went to go see it. We went to my favorite restuarant Sambuca and there were so many groups of women dressed up in there to see it. We went to 100 Oaks and you would have thought that it was Christmas shopping season in that place. it took us almost an hour to get in to even get a ticket.
