EXCLUSIVE: Keyshia Cole Does UPSCALE Magazine
Ms. Keyshia Cole has stepped her fab game up once again and is looking uber fabulous on the special double cover of the December/January issue of Upscale mag:
Her spread was shot by the just as fabulous celeb photographer Derek Blanks. Looks like Keyshia’s on an old Hollywood glam kick. Loves it.
We’ve got some of Keyshia’s exclusive quotes from this issue when you read the rest…
In the main story, she talks (a little!) about Jeezy, about her relationship with her family, her career, other artists, and how she’s come to this point. But here’s some quotes until then…
On growing up:
People evolve everyday. I try to evolve in everything I go through. As far as the tv show is concerned, the reason why I originally did [it] was so that young people can see that what you come from…you can overcome adversity if you been through that, or whatever you been through, you can overcome it.
On the sound of [her upcoming album] A Different Me:
It’s okay as a woman to show different sides of yourself, and that’s what I feel like I’m doing…
On whether she’s surprised by her success:
Not really, cause I work hard. I expect– not necessarily success– but I expect change because I work hard at at everything. For everything to happen–it’s definitely like it was supposed to, as hard as I work.

I think it’s a beautiful thing for [older artists] to be able to see that– where music has gone and evolved to–and to see new age artists do a tribute for them and respect them so much.

I just stopped the last three four days, but [usually] every morning before I start my day, for an hour and a half. Squats, weights, running swimming miles–it just depends.

IN MY OPINION:
the pics are okay….coming from a modeling background, I find so many things wrong with her poses, facial expression, posture etc but I blame the photographer..anywho, I love Keisha’s music!!! I can’t help but to like her because she shows her vulnerability which makes her human.

It’s all guilt, i believe - she knows she had about 6 or 7 kids all of them are phukk-ups basically except for Keyshia and she KNOWS the reason why Keyshia isn’t a phukk-up is because of the Coles and that realization is KICKING FRANKIE’S AZZ EVERYDAY. That’s why she drinks now. She’s still trying to escape her reality. I think if she would just simply realize that, apologize to her kids for her past, thank the Coles for doing such a good job with Keyshia then she would be 1,000% better but then what the hell would we have to laugh at?

I think so too, i think she looks very nice. Ofcourse, the make-up is exaggerated but it’s because it’s a photo spread/cover shot. Fingerwaves are outta style, yes, but the fingerwaves signify old Hollywood to me & i think she has the outfit & make-up to go with it. As Tim Gunn would say “You have to make this cohesive” & i think she does. She looks good.

ppl act like keyshia got all that money only to go to the dentist and get the wrong set of teeth. i think it looks great but i also liked the lil gap she had b/c it was her. ppl complained about that, now they complaining her mouth is open too much, or that she isn’t use to her teeth. this isn’t HMO or Gateway healthcare (not that there is anything wrong with those–care is care)–i’m sure she had a highly paid dentist who was good at what he did and knew what she wanted. then, she didn’t just get them yesterday so i’m quiet sure she is use to them. i tell ya–gotta find something, smdh

It’s all guilt, i believe - she knows she had about 6 or 7 kids all of them are phukk-ups basically except for Keyshia and she KNOWS the reason why Keyshia isn’t a phukk-up is because of the Coles and that realization is KICKING FRANKIE’S AZZ EVERYDAY. That’s why she drinks now. She’s still trying to escape her reality. I think if she would just simply realize that, apologize to her kids for her past, thank the Coles for doing such a good job with Keyshia then she would be 1,000% better but then what the hell would we have to laugh at?[/quote]
I agree, Les. I haven’t watched the new season yet, but in the past it tore Frankie up to see Keyshia call that woman her Mom. And Keyshia is always trying to make Frankie feel comfortable about the situation. But it seems like Frankie is only pleased when Keyshia turns her back on the Coles. Eff that! Frankie chose that pipe and she should own up to that and stop expecting her children to forget about it.
Anyway, I’m glad it ain’t me. And I like the pictures. Keyshia has definitely come a long way!

I can’t remember how I heard about it. It was on the news in the county I work in. We had some folks arrested for messing with goats. It’s so rural and weird out here. I pray every morning 2/3/4 times before I get here. The state mental facility is here too. 36% of the patients are actually from the county.

I meant to say I agree w/ Les about Frankie. It’s a damn shame that she abandoned her kids for drugs and now she gets to reap the benefits of being Keisha’s birth mom. Not mad at Keisha cuz it’s natural for a child to want to connect w/ blood, but I’m glad she still has a relationship w/ her mom (adoptive).

Learning to disconnect is the hardest thing. It’s why I had to stop direct counseling. I was paying peoples bills, buying clothes and food..etc. Doing what I though would fix the little stuff so that they could deal with the deeper stuff. I was becoming consumed with saying everybody and some of them were using me. I had to let go and really realize that those problems were not mine.

The career expo was great! I got a lot of postive feedback and a couple of interviews setup.

I just wanted to comment on the topic of Keyshias’ Mothers. I do agree with the Frankie feeling very guilty, but I also can understand her anger. I was a child in that situation and I feel Frankie is trying to take ownership of the part she played, but her anger towards Mrs. Cole is that, she was only supposed to take temporary custody of keyshia. Frankie gave her that, legally. The Coles, then went and adopted keyshia without Frankie or keyshia’s bio grandmother knowing. They also moved and cut keyshia off from her bio family, not just Frankie. That’s why keyshia says, she ‘found out’ she was adopted when she found the papers and then she went and found her mom. Therefore, Frankie is angry with the Coles for that. I really wish they would show the Coles taking ownership for what they did. And I think that if that happens (not saying it hasn’t, but I don’t know) Frankie may feel like all the weight isn’t on her. Can you imagine leaving your child with someone while you tried to get your ish together and once you do, you go to get your child and she’s gone? As a parent, and I child who has been there; I still needed to see my mother and not feel like she forgot about me.
It’s a tough situation and I would think they would all need a lot of individual counseling. I have heard Frankie, Neffie, and Keyshia speak before and they are a strong group of women. I love BET for showing that we can overcome adversity and learn to forgive and love each other unconditionally. They are trying very hard to work it out.

It’s all guilt, i believe - she knows she had about 6 or 7 kids all of them are phukk-ups basically except for Keyshia and she KNOWS the reason why Keyshia isn’t a phukk-up is because of the Coles and that realization is KICKING FRANKIE’S AZZ EVERYDAY. That’s why she drinks now. She’s still trying to escape her reality. I think if she would just simply realize that, apologize to her kids for her past, thank the Coles for doing such a good job with Keyshia then she would be 1,000% better but then what the hell would we have to laugh at?[/quote]
How many times does Frankie has to apologize for being on drugs and she gave her kids away. I understand where Frankie is coming from. Yes she feels guilty for not being there in the first place but for a person that has been on drugs the very first thing that is said is that you first have to forgive yourself first then you can move on.
Everytime I have seen this show, frankie is always apologizing. How many times? I think she loves all her kids and that is not even the subject, because when you are on drugs you don’t think or care about anything, not hurting your family but getting that hit, the very first hit that is the one that felt so good, you do drugs, eat, and have sex. It is a long process just speaken from experience.
When Mrs. Cole is in town I think that she should keep those two apart until she repairs her relationship with Frankie. She should push those two, let GOD work that out and everything will fall into place. It’s not going to take Mrs. Cole to repair or to get along but Frankie and Keisha.
I think frankie is just looking for a little acceptance and forgiveness so she can get past the fact that she was hooked on drugs and missed the important part of kids life especially Keisha’s. It’s hard to not only admit but take responsiblity for her actions.
But again how many times is she going to say she is sorry?

Keyshia, All i can say is do your THANG girl friend and you do it well… First of all you look Wonderfull all the time from one DIVA to another… I would love to meet you one day and share some of my goals as a 38 yr old Breast Cancer Survior, I wonder do you ever do any thing for the breast cancer awareness month, i have great ideas but im not as fortunate to share them with the right peeps. cant even express how much i luv keyshia cole..shez da truth, and shes very relatable..i can relate to each and every song of hers and datz wassap..not many artists like dat..luv da show, every album, and i will b da 1st one to cop the new one..im glad to c her growing, and becomin more and more successful..lovez her..jus fab..
