I understand your sentiments but honestly speaking that is the only way you get celebs with money to respond to your cause. I love the fact that she is not one person who just says she wants to help out the children in Africa with HIV and then we don’t know where the hell the money goes….she makes sure to record her time going there to give them the money needed for vaccines and such. But honestly to get the money she wants from her celeb friends this is the route she must take….have an event and everyone comes out to support. I dont see anything wrong with it because I’m pretty sure everyone gave her a hearty check that came out. But I understand where you’re coming from as far children here needing help as well.

Hey, I’m kinda new to YBF. 25 F. Anyway I have to get this off my chest before I lose my mind. I have an older yt co-worker still trippin over the election. She’s reading me articles about William Ayers and this crazy mess and I’m like I don’t care. You’re depressing me, stop. It’s over, it’s done, He won. Then she said that young people shouldn’t think that they know more than older people, because they’ve been here longer. Obviously she’s talking about the large number of young voters that were pro-Obama. So you are supposed to tell me who to vote for bc you’re old? Once a terrorist always a terrorist? I’m two seconds from going off. Somebody help!!!!

yay Keep A Child Alive 5th Annual Black Ball! A Key is the Cofounder and Global ambassador. And i glad to say i enjoy workin with this organization. all the work and time they put into the aids pandemic in Africa is incredible. They help to provide shelter to orphaned children of families who have lost loved one to aids as well as provide the ARV meds to those battling HIV/Aids.
Its figures that a black blog would focus on such immature things. IE the Swizz Beats appearence thats is so simple minded of people. This is an event where celebs and the public get together and raise money for the reasons ive already mentioned. The event is open to eveyone. There is also a celebrity auction, award presentations, and dinner. Keys and Beats are in the same industry as well as they both have youth organizations. They cant avoid each other theyve been on the same red carpet before and will continue to be. people look and draw hints from the simplelest things. This is about raising money and awareness. Trust the people in Africa dont give a damn about Swizz making an appearence.
lots of other celebs were there as well(those pictured above) as well as Justin Timberlake, John Mayer, Chris Daughtry, Elijah Wood, Adele, and more.

Ms GQ, I was just simply speaking for the other side. I honestly don’t know what happened, but I just hate to see people get so worked up over famous people.There are a lot of different people on here, and people look at different things. Some people see a philanthropist and some see a home-wrecker. That is life. Alicia will still do her thing. Did she do it? Maybe, maybe not. She is not perfect, no one is. She can do all the community service in the world, and still have some issues. And if she did it, she has a lack of morals period. There is no need to argue about what she did or didn’t do. I come on here for the fashion and a little gossip, and the obama updates. There are always different perspectives, and that should always be respected.

Goodmorning my ppl….first let me start by saying, I was at the Black Ball lastnight and for you all to focus on Alicia and Swizz instead of the bigger picture IS very small minded, so what he was there, So was Krucial!! And mind U alicia didn’t sit with neither of them, but did happly speak and socialize with BOTH of them including the many other 100’s of guest that were there at this beautiful amazing event…it is soo beautiful to see people with millons give to help save some lives in africa. I’ve never witnessed nothing like that before and I must say I can’t wait to witness it again next year. The organization is to aid the AIDS pandemic amongst young people and their families in South Africa. So, the benefit is to raise money for the medicine and the clinics that the organization built for that section in Africa.
Now yes, there are people who need all that extra stuff, everywhere, but that’s not the purpose of the organization or the annual benefit.
Regular people donate to the organization all the time, but the party, itself, is to raise money through celebrities. Alicia had an international Black Ball in London this past July, and I heard that the celebrities and other rich people that attended that function collectively donated over $700,000 in that one night.
I mean, just imagine how long it would probably take to raise that amount money without the help of rich celebrities.

Oh yes, I forgot about her other organizations.
Alicia does do really great things for children across the world. And those two organizations mentioned, for those who don’t know, helps college-bound students to get scholarships. The organizations also help to raise young people’s self-esteem as well as give them encouragement to hone their scholastic and musical talents.
I also heard that with Frum Tha Ground Up, Alicia and the other leaders of the organization, want to build charter schools across the country. But, I think the first one she wants to open will be in New York.
