Kelly Rowland Is Ditching Manager Mathew Knowles…For Simon Fuller?!
A source who works very closely with SONY/BMG tells us that Destiny’s Step-Child singer Kelly Rowland is set to change lanes when it comes to her her manager and career. Yeah we’ve heard this rumor before, but this time it seems quite legit. She was recently spotted meeting with 19 Entertainment’s Simon Fuller, who she is expected to announce as her new manager at the top of the year. We predict her current manager Mathew Knowles ain’t gonna like this.
Simon is the current manager of international acts like The Spice Girls, Annie Lennox, Carrie Underwood and David and Victoria Beckham. And Kelly may not be the superstar that her group member Beyonce is in the United States, but the singer is a mega-star in Europe where she has been playing arena-size venues with the biggest international pop acts.
Apparently 27-year-old Kelly is tired of playing the backseat to Beyonce who is also managed by Papa Knowles and intends to ax B’s daddy in the coming weeks.

The album Ms. Kelly was released in the U.S. in 2007 after being pushed back numerous times for Beyonce’s B’day CD. After Ms. Kelly came out, the CD sold underwhelming numbers.
In the U.K., the CD had an impressive debut and bolted up the charts after the song “E2Work” hit radio. The CD was re-released in the Europe and in Japan as, Ms. Kelly Deluxe, and was a chart-topper. The re-release was only available for digital download in the U.S.
Unfortunately, Kelly’s U.S. success doesn’t match her international career and before she ends up like U.S. singer Anastacia, who is an international superstar but doesn’t sell records in America, Kelly is ready for a management overhaul to get things together. ‘Bout damn time Kelly.

All right!
Although I’ve always believed in Kelly’s success abroad, the fact that her music wasn’t really played here made me downplay her success at in Europe at the same time.
I gotta be honest, I would love to see Kells become more of a heavy hitter in the United States.
I can’t wait to see how Kelly’s image and music will sound like with a new manager!

I am happy for Kelly I really hope thoe rumor is true. I am Bey stan No. 10 and I know Papa Knowles isn’t concerned about Kelly or Michelle careers. Tonight Bey will be on the the NBC Christmas Special with Solange I was like damn he didn’t promote Kelly and Michelle that way.

Good move career wise, Kelly, if this is true…you’ve been playing second fiddle to B for years…and I truly believe that both Sony and your management could have made u a huge success here in the States.
Simon knows the overseas market alot better and can continue to help u grow into a major player. But please believe that Matthew will not go down without a fight and will still being able to make money off this deal. Also, why wouldn’t Matthew want to make a brand just as grand as the Beyonce product…I like Kells better anyway…she has more personality and is more articulate!

We love Kelly here in London…..i always thought she had such a grown soothing melodic voice, one that could be around for many many years….Bey will i think will fade sooner or later, people will always get tired of over exposure!! I hope this is the truth.. I have felt sorry for kelly and michelle for a while…Michelle albun is a really nice album but overlooked and underplayed becuase of knowles pushing solange and Kelly is a beautiful girl who deserves success, I hope she goes out there and show the world. I hate the fact that these two women sure know that they think exactly what we are saying but when the cameras hit they praise the knowles family. If they were really close they should be able to tell Mathew and Beyonce their feelings and if they are really loved they would tell them to do what’s best for them, becuase Mathew main goal is Beyonce and Solange is along for the ride because she is the other daughter!!! I really think Beyonce is talented, super talented but it’s never been fair!!!! Over the years it’s gotten worse for what I can see and mark my words someone will be doing a movie or a tell all about what really went on with this ladies!!!!

Good for her! I’m glad she’s changing management. Although I like Beyonce and her music, I do think her father focuses soley on her…and not so much on Kelly, Michelle or Solange. Her album Ms. Kelly is all that and I was surprised many of her songs didn’t get played. She has a beautiful voice, but it was definitely being overshadowed by Beyonce. Well, yeah, I don’t think that Michelle could really be a star. Still, anybody can be made into a star, these days. So, the fact that Matthew chooses not to put anytime into promoting the other DC members shows what his true intentions are.
As for Kelly being an U.S. star, again, anybody can be made into a star, with the right team behind them, of course.
But, what Kelly has on her side is true talent and beauty. So, I don’t know if it would be impossible for her to be big the US. She just needs the right situation; and if this new management rumor is true, she’s already won half the battle.

Hilarious and true on all counts. I think Kelly has a true fan base and people genuinely want to see her do well. Her voice is beautiful as is her image. She just needs better writers, producers and promoters. She would do just fine in the U.S. But let’s be honest, when there is money to be made, you want a fan base abroad.

Legally, if her contract is up then he can’t make money off of her then again, he may own the name (which I doubt…kelly is a very common name). Either way it goes it’s a good move for her. What does this mean for a future DC album? Probably nothing. Michelle seems very intent on not doing one and Kelly is trying to find her nitch.
Personally, I enjoyed Kelly’s album minus the Solange songs. It was very R&B and I liked it a lot more then Bey’s last two cd’s.

It most definately is marketing and publicity. There are many less talented people who have “made it”. How many of Beyonce’s songs people “didn’t like in the beginning”, after being pushed down their throats (played on the radio every 15 seconds) they seem to “grow on you”. I don’t begrudge B her success but not capitalizing on Kelly’s success was a crime punishable by firing. As a manager that is unforgivable. Kelly needs to start putting herself first. If the knowles really are family to her then they should be able to support any decision she makes. If matthew really loves her like he wud a neice, then he should know that he is not what is best for her right now, and that Kelly needs to try new things. WELL IT’S GETTING TO BE THAT TIME. ONLY A FEW MORE DAYS UNTIL THE NEW YEAR (MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL). AND I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE IF THIS IS REALLY GOING TO HAPPEN. IF IT DOESN’T OH WELL. BUT I HOPE IT DOES. I MEAN I PURCHASED MS. KELLY AND SHE HAS SOME DAMN GOOD SONGS ON THERE. BUT WILL SEE.
