I still haven’t figured out WTH made Ne-Yo, who I thought was a smarter dude, hop on the Yung Berg train of stupidity. He was being interviewed on video by a radio station, and at the end, the white female host said she was glad Ne-Yo wasn’t dating anyone (yeah right) so she could now have him all to herself.
No-No’s response? “All the prettiest kids are light skinned anyway.” We’re still doing this in the ‘08 No-No? Really? SMDH. Get it together. You can hear it for yourself around the 6:40 mark in the video above.
In other news, Soulja Boy has issued a public apology for all his idiotic moves and statements lately:

Thu, December 18, 2008 9:46 AM
I can’t see the vid, but I’m sure Neyo was just being sarcastic. I can’t see him saying somethin that idiotic.
Thu, December 18, 2008 9:47 AM
I can’t see the videos. What’s going on? What they say?
I do not like Soulja Boy. All his songs are the worst.
I still like Ne-Yo. The man puts out some good music!
Thu, December 18, 2008 9:47 AM
I have no words for Ne-Yo. And I was just starting to really like his music too. When are people going to start THINKING before they speak.
And I’m OVER SoulJa Boy. I wish he would just go away!
Thu, December 18, 2008 9:47 AM
Come on, Ne-Yo, really? With a face like yours you really think you can be picky? LMBAO! Go back to being broke and you’ll see how much choice you REALLY have.

Thu, December 18, 2008 9:48 AM
morning
Ne-yo, please. How can he even say that when he had that alleged child….that was no where near light skinned–or am i wrong? and hell, was that even his child? and i refuse to listen to either vid but based on how tash wrote it–seemed like he didn’t even have to make that comment–it wasn’t even headed in that direction. so what, b/c she is a white chick and talkin about how she wants him for herself, that the child they WOULD make would be light skinned? wow.
Thu, December 18, 2008 9:49 AM
black men seriously need to think first before they speak is that why he and his sista so damn ugly ole tilapia face azz
Thu, December 18, 2008 9:49 AM
What was NeYo THINKING? He can’t be serious! I am sooooo sick an tired of these idiotic side comments about the shade of our peoples’ skin. It’s soo funny how they think that mess will slide. Here’s a thought: why don’t we celebrate our differences instead of segregate and demean! NeYo will be making a public apology pretty darn soon. Just a feeling.

Even though you’ve been educated, there’s still so many of us who haven’t been. It is sad that the ones that haven’t been are spewing their ignorance worldwide. They have the opportunity to really make a difference. They’re constantly in the spotlight so they should be the ones using their influence for good instead of saying stupid mess like this. This shit is ridiculous and I’m damn tired of it. It really makes me angry that in this time, there are still people who think that light is right.

Not surprised at all bout NeYo. He’s not first and will not be the last. If you all have not notice, the brothers in the entertainment and sports industry don’t need to say a word, you see how they feel by looking at the women they have on their arms or in their videos. Nuff Said. Stay strong black sista’s,especially my dark skin ladies who reflect the true color of black folks. To my light skin sisters, don’t let this foolishness effect you in a arrogant way. There are brothers out there that love all of you not for the color of your skin but for what’s inside your mind and heart. PEACE!

First off, skin shouldn’t even factor into what makes a human being “beautiful” or “pretty”. I’ve known plenty a lightskinned(ED) people who’ve had the most ugliest personalities and egos…as well as plenty who were humble and had the nicest personalities. The same goes for every other shade…whether dark, light, red, blue, purple…or whatever the hell shade Michael Jackson is.

Just because that’s how he thinks don’t mean he’s right or anyone else for that matter. That’s ignorant. So what if your light skin.I am too, I’m not getting a prize for it at all lol.I don’t pride myself for being light skin. It’s a color.I have beautiful shades of brown of my family and they are the most beautiful people I have ever seen.I think people need to visit countries like Africa and they will see a broader range of black people (I still don’t know why people say black people when their skin color is not even black) you ever see. That’s why I don’t know why men here in America diss such beautiful black women.I mean seriously people we need to do better. It’s 2008.
Like KRS-1 said “I’m not black, I’m brown”

This was in response to her saying that “she could have him all to herself”. But still, why would you even say that??? He could’ve just shrugged it off.
Yea it was just a stupid comment. I’m not gonna hate Ne-Yo for it. It’s just sad that people on the outside know how sensitive we are about colorism. A simple slip of the tongue can set off a firestorm. He betta hurry up and retract……
Yup…these are one of the downfalls of being in the limelight 24/7. Something that may have sounded like a joke to you and really isnt already gets heard by millions….so its not til after everyone voices their opinion on your statement are you able to say “damn…that shit did sound f-ed up”. Ppl on the regs say dumb shit like this everyday….they just not in the publics eye…..but he better get his publicist on this ASAP!!!!
I agree. Cuz whether is was sarcasm or not, it’s still offensive. He should think before he speaks. Why is that so hard these days?
It’s not!!!He needs to get his ass to school quick because I use to have a hard time with my accent until my instructor told me “Take your time” they’ll understand. Then there is “say what you mean and mean what you say.”
The sad thing BB is that you can go to whatever school in the world and that wont change ish….you have professors in college who feel like that. It’s just how certain people look at things in life….yes to us it sounds f-ed up but come on now…..how many times like the Jon person commented and said have we not heard but seen it in the actions of majority of these entertainers in who they date and marry??

Nothing surprises me these days. Its just like some were discussing in the last post…its sad that history is repeating itself. As far as Neyo is concerned, people are entitled to their opinion. However, when you are in the public eye you are generally held to a higher standard and sometimes for some people, your words sting a little more than the average joe. Also, when African Americans may comments like this, it only further divides us. Being color struck in 2008 is craziness. Its pure ignorance at its finest and just gives them another thing to check off their list that they don’t have to do to divide us. We don’t have to depend on clear people to continue to divide and conquer…we are doing a fine job all by ourselves. I have reflected this year (very recently) over all the global and local foolishness that we have committed this year and it saddens me to see people waste their time spewing craziness over the air waves as if it has no effect. There are women right now (I know some) that think that they are so ugly because 1 and I do mean 1 person told them they were too dark, too fat, too this or too that. Words hurt some people to the core. Neyo has a right to his opinion, his preference; we all do. I personally think black is beautiful in every shade but I prefer a darker skin man. But I have dated all over the color spectrum and I don’t ostracize the lighter skin men…a light skin man may end up being the King that God sends me…whatever. Ultimately, we should all be taking responsibility for the things we say by first thinking and then speaking responsibly. I know that for some that is going to take effort, but its worth a try.

I know this may be crazy…but I didn’t find out that color was an issue in out among black people until I went to college. I will never forget I went to a forum on campus and heard the craziest things about guys and girls not being able to bring their beau’s home because they were too dark or too light. I’d never heard this a day in my life in my house.

I agree!! I was watching tv with my son one day and he commented that the girl on tv was ugly…I almost snapped on him. I told him that we are all God’s children and God don’t make ugly. I am trying to get it out of his head that it is okay to say things like that. I know that it may be ambitious but I am trying to teach him that you shouldn’t just say anything out of your mouth without any thought as to how it may affect another person. I think that somebody should have been taught that to Souljah Boy (sorry, he is getting no pass from me based on his age…to mention slavery as loosely and foolishly as he did is just deplorable), Young Berg and many other young men and women who associate beauty based on some false european ideology. Not my son…not on my watch.

My mom is just the opposite she’s like light bright light. Everyone in the suburbs thought she was my stepmom when we first moved there because I’m so brown skinned. My whole family is dark and she stands out and was teased when she was younger for being too light. But I remember her telling me when I was a kid that I had beautiful golden brown skin and she has light skin but we’re both beautiful

AWWWWW SNAP!! That’s what I said. I respect Jay as a lyricist and all..but a lot of rappers have been underrated because of him. Nas is one. This dude is a street philosopher with incredible swag and is hella sexy!! But does he get his due credit? Nope. Because kids rather hear about slingin dope on the streets and not to trust a bitch blah blah blah. N then we go off into the “South of France with my baddest bitch category”..N then “I own the Nets blah blah blah category”..It just gets redundant. I really listened to that Brooklyn We go hard song..and honestly..Santogold had the best hooks..and she was singing..That mess was weak..and Jay should never attempt to speak Patois again. Lol@ being turned out by the dark skin school boy :)
I guess because I have so many different complexions in my family that stuff is just really not discussed or brought up. I have an aunt that’s very dark and people used to pick with her when she was in high school. She married a darker skinned man and her daughter is dark skinned and she definitely had a skin complex. I tell her all the time how pretty she is on the inside and the outside. She seems to be doing okay now…she’s twelve and she’s almost 5′8” and built like a grown woman so she’s quickly growing out of it. I just sometimes worry that her beauty is in her eye and not the eyes of boys and little girls that want to be around her because they think she’s pretty.

it’s obvious neyo wasn’t being serious when he said that, it was his retarded way of flirting with a fat white girl. As far as soulja boy goes I’m glad he is realizing that he effects the younger generation.
I hope we don’t make Neyo’s comment into a light vs dark thing and what shade is in style. Only a retard would put a human complexion in the same context as a textile. I like the shade of sexy and that shade is not confined to a person’s pigment level.

I’ve never heard this stuff either. Not in my house. Both my parents are light but they still never said no stuff like that. On my dad’s side of the family they are mostly light-skinned. Both grandparents and all his sisters and brothers. (my great, great, great was a slave owner.) On my mom’s side my grandfather was dark-skinned and her mom light-skinned. Skin color was never really discussed in our household. I didn’t start hearing it either till I went to college. Some of them people had complexes like you wouldn’t believe.

Yes because my brothers listened to West Coast NWA and etc that was all I heard growing up. I knew of Biggie One More Chance and Juicy (I love that song) but I just didn’t get into BIG like that. I mean, Jay does his thing yes, but better than Biggie, Like Nas said, “How much of Biggie’s rhymes gonna come out yo fat lips!” Please, see *smh* this is why I know Jay eats his own shit for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That’s why I was glad Nas to’ his azz up on Ether. Talkin bout you better than Big knowing damn well when Big was alive you had to “KISS THE MUTHAF’N RING!” NEGROE PLZ!!
Lawd did that make my head hurt something terrible!!
Eaxctly!!! And when I was chillin with my boo last night they played that ish on the radio. I was liek this ish is WAAAAACK!! I mean you can’t even bop to that. He’s straddling the fence. He wanna keep it gangsta for Brooklyn but then wanna be the water boy for the YT. I’m tired of him thinking just because he hollas “Brooklyn” it’s supposed to be hot. Get over yaself. I really don’t see how people think this dude is hot.
On “n—- what n—- who” Jaz-O KILLLLLLED IT!!! I literally memorized his whole part and used to spit it just as fast while I was in college. Please, Jay’s lyrics these days are like soggy cornflakes. Eeeeew.

I don’t want to take away from Jay because he’s touched my soul once with Reasonable Doubt and with Blueprint so I respect what he brings to the table but we all have to be for real with ourselves and say the mainstream and age has changed him and it’s never quite been the same since BP2

Yup, that cd was underrated (like I really have to say that when discussing Nas) but that is my ish. When it comes to what’s what I feel like Nas won that because he spoke the truth and didn’t result to hitting below the belt (condom on you baby seat)when the kitchen got too hot. So much in this game has came from him and you can’t see it because of the mainstream slaves taking all the credit.

I love both Big and Jay and I have to say Big is higher in my top five than Jay is but Jay is a genius, he built his whole empire with so much people hating on him from the beginning, you know how hard that is? As for Big, no telling if he would have been around long and hard if he was still around but I know his freestyles and songs of his album were HARDCORE. He tells a story when he raps while Jay Z gets ya with the one liners, Tupac is more of a poet tho and Nas is a word smith. I refuse to compare because all three of these men music inspired me in someway somehow. They are the greatest the rap game have ever seen. And I think ppl say Jay Z is the best because he is a great lyricist plus has so much commercial success its ridiculous.

Yes because my brothers listened to West Coast NWA and etc that was all I heard growing up. I knew of Biggie One More Chance and Juicy (I love that song) but I just didn’t get into BIG like that. Now Jay came out with Hard Knock Life I was whoaaaaaaaaaa and I loved it. So Vol.2 was the 1st rap cd I ever bought.
OK…then you gotta go back because you have been bamboozled!!! You liked Jay from Vol 1..that was an ok album….hottest joint on that was “Imaginary Players” but to say you love Jay you gotta hear Reasonable Doubt in its entirety. That by far is his best….the only album I believe he put blood sweat and tears into. A hot album is one that you never push forward button on and I give him that on RD and then you also have listen to Ready to Die in its entirety….that is the ONLY way you can be able to even critique BIG.
I have RD and Vol.1 also. I played RD over the weekend so maybe I will buy BIG cd and listen too it. The only Jay cd I can’t get with is BP 2 that was WACK. I know Jay used a lot of BIG lines but everyone uses everyone line these days. The debate will go on forever because the kids coming up these days will think Weezy is the best to ever do it.
Lol…NO correction….Jay uses A LOT of EVERYBODY’S LINES….lmao

Right I co-sign I am dark skinned does that not make me on the same level of a light skinned person. I never understood the hate within our own race about skin tone. Dually noted. I see where you are coming from. However, I respectfully have to disagree. For those ignorant enough to believe that all light-skinned people are this and all dark-skinned people are that…we sometimes have to make it plain. For instance, if we were discussing some wrongdoing involving a mother/sister/woman/man/nationality…most people proclaim their ‘experience’ and move on from there…no disrespect was felt..I felt I needed to clarify on my behalf.

I’d never heard this a day in my life in my house.
me neither!!!
i got to college and girls was talkin bout how i thought i was better than them cuz i was red…they started callin me light brite…next thing i know…they had me sleepin wit the whole football team!! i was like…wtf?!? yes, i am an attractive woman. no…i do not thrive on that and beauty will face…them same bitches that was startin drama either didnt graduate or took twice the amount of time necessary to get a degree…and i walked wit my head held high and didnt miss a beat! i was saddened because their hatred was deeply rooted…they was taught that from birth!!
I’m light-skinned, my roomate was mixed (black & white) and my other roommate wasn’t light-skinned but she was brown either. she was a light brown I guess LOL! But we all were fine but let all them hating azz females tell it, we was the biggest hoes on campus. I was a virgin when I went to college and so was my other roommate. I’m like how am I a hoe if I’ve never slept with nobody. Or we thought we was better than them b/c we were pretty with long hair. I never knew hate like that until I went to college. It was a real eye opener. Like you said, deep rooted hate.
It because ya’ll got all of the attention…most boys flock to light skinnned females cause that is their idea of beauty!!
Yall hit that on the head! There was no hate like the hate I’ve seen in college. I’m brown skinned..right in the middle of the colorspecturm I think…lol. Some of the comments I heard were startling about dark and light women. It was sad that people would base who they would date/sleep with on their skin tone. Ridiculous.

I can’t speak for anyone else but I like to let people know me. We only see each other’s words, it’s not like we are having a conversation where everyone can see everyone. For example if Neyo had said “All the best looking kids are chunky, not thin” and I’m a chunky girl, I’m letting you know that even though I fall into that warped “compliment” that I think that statement is foolishness. It’s easy to get offended when the comment IS about you, but I’m letting you know even if isn’t about me, you can go sit down, you wrong, peace out. Just my opinion, hope it makes sense.

I agree. I’m not a fan of injustice on any front. Ohhh and don’t even get me started on a strong majority of black folks who show ignorance to soooo many other things…LOL

That is very ignorant and sad of Neyo to say something this stupid. He and his sister are very unattractive, but this has nothing to do with their color. I guess he has low self esteem because of his looks.

Well I don’t care if it was was someone saying that darker was better, green people were better than purple people, a one legged woman was better than a woman with two legs. If its about ostracizing a group of people or speaking about a group of people in a derogatory, condescending manner, that is not cool. I have people in my life that I love on both sides of the color spectrum and I don’t like to see any of them being hurt by petty comments, especially about something that they can’t control (well Michael Jackson could but I digress).

Yup, that cd was underrated (like I really have to say that when discussing Nas) but that is my ish. I’m very disappointed, but not surprised. It seems like dark skinned folks are the ones who hate their skin the most. I have a great aunt who’s darker than pavement who has the nerve to tell my light skinned mom that she’s “gettin dark”. WTF! But people still think like that. And if Black folks still up hold this foolishness, I wonder how Whites feel? I can’t believe Ne-Yo would say something so stupid, but it’s always the ones who appear to be smart that say some dumb ass stuff. Tired of this shade s#!T !

I will never forget I went to a forum on campus and heard the craziest things about guys and girls not being able to bring their beau’s home because they were too dark or too light. I’d never heard this a day in my life in my house.
me neither!!!
i got to college and girls was talkin bout how i thought i was better than them cuz i was red…they started callin me light brite…next thing i know…they had me sleepin wit the whole football team!! i was like…wtf?!? yes, i am an attractive woman. no…i do not thrive on that and beauty will face…them same bitches that was startin drama either didnt graduate or took twice the amount of time necessary to get a degree…and i walked wit my head held high and didnt miss a beat! i was saddened because their hatred was deeply rooted…they was taught that from birth!!
Girl!!!! what!!! that ish happened to me too!
———————————————————————–
It because ya’ll got all of the attention…most boys flock to light skinnned females cause that is their idea of beauty!!
Jumping in but I am going to have to disagree….I hate when light skinned girls think that people don’t like them because they are light skinned…this is giving yourself too much credit. In college most of the girls hate…upperclassmen especially…because you are the new meat and they see how the guys on campus are responding to you. I experienced it and so did most of the other “cute” freshmans. We were young, hotgirls (and I am brown skinned and still as hot as they come..lol), and popular with the guys. I heard the same thing on my college campus and very seldom was the issue of hate even related to skin color. Some people are just not going to like you…there are many reasons, mostly it is because the other person is miserable, but don’t be as narrow minded as to assume that it is due to your skin color.

See, we as black folks can easily given this nucca a 0…let all light skin people buy his music. I am light-skin, but I have NO tolerance for this kind of tomfoolery from our people. We need to give all colorstruck negroes a place in broke kingdom when they out themselves about color.
This includes Yung Berg, Slick Rick( yes ma’am), Prince
(the worst), Lenny Kravitz, Pharelle, Neyo and T.I.( yep its well known that he is VERY colorstruck- check out both of his children’s mothers as well). I don’t care how amazing your music is, how legendary you may be or even a prolific musical genius, if you are a ignorant negroe then you are on my “Gets None” list. I have purchased my last ne-yo “color complexed” cd.
Thu, December 18, 2008 11:50 AM
im dark skinned and one of my close friends only dates light skinned dudes..i dont see a problem with it, people have their preferences but i remember she told me to talk to this one guy so we could have some PRETTY light skinned children. um obviously i was a dark skinned child so does that make me not pretty??
Thu, December 18, 2008 11:59 AM
NEYO is offically on the stupid list…after making that comment i wonder how he feels about that lil dark baby he was “claiming”
Thu, December 18, 2008 12:00 PM
okkk sooooo NO-NO lol,is a damn fool. He is the last person who should be talking about prettiness. From you can not go anywhere without wearing a hat on your head, you should not be making bold comments.
…will the light skin vs. dark skin complex ever cease to exist? You’d think it’s 2008 almost 2009, a black man is president, that we’d be able to put this whole beef over skin complexion aside, and just embrace the many shades of black. It’s such a shame.
Thu, December 18, 2008 12:04 PM
I am not surprised. Alot of these black men are obsessed with light skin women. Have you notice that when most white men date or marry black women they are usually “obviously ” black women or what we may consider “regular”. It is sad that another race has more appreciation for blackness than our own men. Either way, I will not in any way purchase anything from Neyo again. No matter how many times he apologizes to kill the firestorm.

They said he was acting like he was in a bad mood, he was away from everyone and was on his phone the entire night. Does he really think he’s going to stay relevant acting like that? Get his ass out of here……..NEXT——–>
lol see that is why I can’t be at a meet and greet and the so called celebrity is acting like that because I don’t bite my tongue and I probably would have cussed Neyo out. I just don’t get some people how can you be rude to your fans? This is the life style you wanted so even if you don’t feel like smiling you still need to do it in order to please your fans… the same people who buy your records because if they didn’t your ass would be broke. I swear people forget where they came from as soon as they get a little bit of status smh.

Ne-yo, Ne-yo! What can I say about that comment? All the pretty kids are light-skinned! Where did that come from? Ne-yo you need to just need to stick to writing and singing songs!
Also, you need to look at people that are your skin complexion and appreciate the beauty! It seems you have some skin-esteem issues that you may need to resolved.

Ya’ll all know where this type of thinking comes from obviously he was joking and I understand what he meant. It is not true that all light skinned kids are the prettiest buy neyo said it cause it’s what most people think including black folk. We can try to act like we don’t but we all know it came from slavery. If you have any features or if you color is closer to white then you are right and that is something that dark people has had to live with for decades. The darkest of every race have always had it the hardest ask the dark hispanics. Skin color don’t have to be discussed in your house America gives us this attitude your mama or dad didn’t have to. It’s sad because dark women get it the most I know because I have two daughters one of who is light and the other brown skinned and every comments on how cute the light one is……no they don’t say because she is light skinned but both girls look just alike except for their color so I know they think she is prettier because she is lighter. We need to recognize peeps and change our perceptions.

Jay-Z on Jaz-O’s “Phuck Dat”
“Thats right its Jay homeboy BK all day. 6figgaz still it’s do-rag on waves/ betta watch what cha say/ cuz speakin on jay’ll/ get cha mouth piece obese like della resse”
Biggie on Long Kiss 2yrs later
“I make ya mouth piece obese like della resse…” (oh and didn wayne say dat on a song too?)
Jay on Dead Presidents 96
“…Fuck em they hate a nigga lovin his life/ in all possible ways kno tha feds is buggin my life”
Big on “No Utha” hidden track on Life After in 97
“…Ol folks on da corner sayin hustlin ain’t right/ but fuck em they hate it when a nigga lovin his life/ rappin now but fuckin feds still buggin my life”
Thu, December 18, 2008 5:23 PM
Now back to the topic at hand…I hate when the different shades over black people go at each other over this racist bullshit like all of us weren’t on the plantation getting whipped by master at the same time. How is one better than the other because one was picking cotton in the field in the hot sun and the other was “pretty enough” to get raped by the master while cooking over the hot stove? hot sun hot stove it was still SLAVERY! We as black people of all shades need to come together and stop letting master still control over lives! Yous is free now nigger! Act like it!

Chris Brown said something similar and nobody got on him or decided not to buy his album is it becuz he LIGHTSKIN or does he just get a pass????

Chris Brown recently talked about their relationship on The Russ Parr morning show, saying about their relationship is growing. When asked if his Moms likes Rihanna, he said “Yeah yeah, she’s real cool. They’re both light skin with green eyes, so…!”
I wasn’t going to touch this one, but Ne-yo if you’re reading this, I just want you to know that being dark-skinned isn’t what makes you unattractive, it’s because you look like a wide-mouthed Bass. And if you didn’t write 99% of the songs on the radio, I would stop listening to your music for this foolishness!
lol@a wide-mouthed Bass

I’m white, it’s not how Ne-Yo aka GOGO looks he has so much self hate. It’s disguisting for him to say this even off the cuff or whatever..expect a major PR apology aka he was exhausted did’nt know what he was saying within a day. He sure has skills for singing and writing but he’s needs psych help for the self hate and the gogo ness!

Any who I thank NeNO for outting himself. There will be no support again from me.
It’s well known TI likes them light here in the Atl. Even in the strip clubs in the Atl they its said its easy for light-skinned chic to make money than a dark-skin chic. This coming from my light-skin hispanic friend.
Hell I’m white and TI is just a bit taller, def skinnier then my white trash friend that does mounds of coke. LOL

To answer your question, yes, people are still doing that ish. Just today I was driving down Stoney Island (in Chicago) and noticed a car driving down the street with Arizona license plates that read “halfblk.” I just shook my head.

Lately Neyo has just been saying things that just shouldnt be said…things that he’ll regret. Maybe if he would just think about what he says, he’d do better. And I know he probably didn’t mean it like the media portrays it, but come on Neyo, you’ve been in the industry how long? You should know by now that every little comment you make can easily be taken out of context. If you don’t want negativity from the media, then don’t feed them the bait- simple and easy. I strongly doubt, however, that I could compare Neyo’s hopefully sarcastic statement with Yung Berg idiotic dumbfounded comment. Anyway, Neyo’s still mad talented. As for Soulja boy, I really don’t care. He just didn’t seem sincere, but then again I may be wrong.

I know I am in the minority but I don’t think Ne-Yo is that great as a writer or singer. I just don’t see the hype. I know his songs become hits but just because something is a hit doesn’t mean it is good or has any longevity.
All of his music lacks depth, substance and meaning. It is all superficial so I can’t say I am surprised by anything he says. Nothing but bs comes out of his mouth. He has always been arrogant, running his mouth and telling everyone else’s business.
Long story short, I can’t stand the fool. I have never supported him and this statement won’t make or break that rule. He is extremely mediocre to me and his Grammy nominations are one of the reasons I have no interest in watching the travesty that the Grammys has become.

NEXT STEP…… NE-YO WILL RELEASE AN APOLOGY!! HE DIDN’T MEAN IT, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH AND MORE BLAH!! WHILE HE IS SURROUNDED BY DARKSKIN KIDS GIVING THEM CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!! NE-YO YOU NEED TO GO SOMEWHERE WITH YOUR GAY A**!!!!
Thu, December 18, 2008 7:18 PM
Actually when Chris said it people were on his behind too. It was a stupid comment and people raised sand about it, maybe not this website but on others. Just like that comment, this will soon fade away too.
Chris Brown said something similar and nobody got on him or decided not to buy his album is it becuz he LIGHTSKIN or does he just get a pass????
Incase you aint know what Chris said…..
Chris Brown recently talked about their relationship on The Russ Parr morning show, saying about their relationship is growing. When asked if his Moms likes Rihanna, he said “Yeah yeah, she’s real cool. They’re both light skin with green eyes, so…!”
I’m lost… I don’t see how him and Ne-yo are the same. Unless I’m just not understanding Chris’ quote correctly, it just sounds like he is making a joke, saying Rihanna and his Mom get along because they look alike. How is that like Ne-yo saying that light skinned kids are the prettiest?Ne-yo is making an ignorant statement that is talking about demeaning most black children, and Chris is just talking about his Mom and Rihanna.
Thu, December 18, 2008 9:23 PM
I personally don’t think Neyo means what he said, I think he meant it sorta like, “that’s what people think anyway”. He’s dark, his mom is dark, and his sister I don’t believe he’s that dumb to believe what he actually said. If so, that means he, his mom and sister, AND ANCESTORS are ugly. I could be wrong but I give him the benefit of the doubt because he’s been asked about the light/dark issue before and his response came off as real. Miss Jones asked him do he prefer light skinned girls and he said no. Tyra applauded him for having a dark skinned girl as his love interest in his “Sexy love” video, (and we all know that NEVER happens), when he was on her show. Now if he actually means and believes what he said, this isn’t the Neyo I like.
Are all the prettiest kids light skinned? Well I do believe many people believe this it’s 1 of the reasons many blackmen date or marry non black women? It has a lot to do with children. They want their child to be biracial because they consider it beautiful. I’m just waiting for the day when a white person pull a Don Imus when it comes to skin tone. Black people will come out swinging, but they can’t get too mad when people in our own race believe the samething.
Like I say, people don’t always say it but they tell you by their actions. What actions? Look at the rich and/or famous blackmen wives and girlfriends. Look at the videos. Watch BET. We can accept it or not, but when your dark you’re NOT CONSIDERED BEAUTIFUL and this topic will KEEP COMING UP until people change their ACTIONS and their ATTITUDES.
Don’t forget, there are “MANY” people that believe that we are ALL UGLY regardless of our skintone.

I am very dark skinned and neyo’s ignorance is just way to funny to even tolerate. Speaking as if he is light skinned…and comeone, self-hate in 2008????seriously!!!! just put it out there and say u don’t like being black cos if thats the case, i SURE DO LOVE IT!
and u ain’t cute either!

anybody ever heard of willie lynch… it’s the same thing. seperate blacks by their differences and put them against each other.
Fri, December 19, 2008 9:36 AM
Wonder how people would have responded had he said “All the prettiest kids are dark skinneded” …I mean really, I bet this post would be filled with people saying how much they LOVE Neyo and that it’s about time someone noticed….LOL
Anyways, I’m quite sure that Neyo was joking, but joke or not, knowing how sensitive of an issue color seems to be amongst us colored folks he bets be prepared for the back lash! Thankfully I discarded the Willie Lynch mentality so this shit doesn’t bother me one damn bit even had he said it the other way around. And I definitely will still be rocking to “Year of the Gentleman” too!

I just want to give a big handclap for Soulja Boy because my brothers like him and I def didn’t want them to listen to his stuff because of what he said…But nonetheless I’m glad that he understands the power that he has…
Thank goodness for education and a pround woman of African descent for a mother. This stuff doesn’t even bother me.
For real!!! Initially, what you want to do is rally on his ass and beat him further down…but you shouldn’t b/c ppl with such deep PSYCHOlogical issues need more positive words like “You DO matter!” or “Love yourself b/c you’re the only one you’ve got!”….more so since he’s got a son of his own! The pattern of breaking down black men MENTALLY and EMOTIONALLY has got to stop!! If not for the damaged grown ass ones, then for the youth/children!!

Can’t help but want to ask based on the obviousness of the pic posted ……would you have calmly stated the SAME thing if you were a couple shades darker!?
Fri, December 19, 2008 10:55 AM
Besides, Tiny (ugh) killed the “light-skinned” argument so there’s nothing left to be said on that issue.
Hmmm-mmmm….if you sayin’ what I think you sayin…ur so wrong!!! Funny, but wrong!!!! Althoe, I didn’t really take a longer look at that family pic…they all looked lost in the sauce!!! From mami to papi to pickney….LOST INNA DE SAUCE!!!

This is truly sad. I thought Ne-Yo was better than this. For a fierce lyricist such as himself, it’s sad and heartbreaking to see the depths of self hatred dude has. The statement was stupid and it made me really see Ne-Yo in a different light. Damn.

hmm pretty sad Ne-Yo, all shades are beautiful! you can be “light skinned” and still not be attractive looking, it’s called logic thinking lol. Well i was never a big fan of his, i just liked two songs by him, definely not helping his career
Sat, January 17, 2009 11:12 PM
