“We both came up and were raised in the same camp,” Polow explained to MTV News. “We’ve known each other for a long time. We actually just have this natural chemistry that I don’t even have with some of my own artists.
“I understand her and I understand what she should be doing,” the producer added.
“And one thing people do say about when I work with Ciara is that I make her sound better than ever,” he continued. “I make her sound like a vocalist versus the other stuff she may do that’s more performance, where she can get on the dance floor. It’s kind of the same thing with Aaliyah. She may not have been the best singer, but her voice was so unique and her sound — she had her own lane, and I think Ciara is like that same thing.”

“I don’t know what to say,” Evans said. “I think that beyond myself, Ms. Wallace or whoever else she wants to blame, everyone who was around Big at that time has had some things to say about [her relationship with Biggie] in order for Cheo to even write the book. He interviewed pretty much all of us. She’s sadly mistaken. I’m aware of what she has to say, and that’s fine. I don’t know what to say. God bless her.”

True. There are different ways to sing. Aaliyah was a good singer. Aaliyah could sing ballads. Aaliyah is a vocalist. Beyonce is a good vocalist too but I do agree withwhat you said about Bey’s oversinging because she sing too damn hard sometimes. Ciara is an okay singe–not too bad and not too good. i have done some research on the comparison of ciara to Aaliyah…the only thing i see that is similar is the way ciara use to where her hair and dress when she first came out. as far as comparing dance moves there is no comparison, ciara kicks a$$. i am trying to figure out where the comparison is. they both have soft voices, but do not sound similar. i am not a fan of ciara’s voice. i am a fan of Aaliyah’s voice. Polow is on crack. From the moment Aaliyah hit the scene she had songs that were instantly classic and have remained so despite her short time on this earth. Ciara does alot of gymnastics type stuff more than dancing to me. Aaliyah danced danced. That being said Ciara is a talented performer but she doesn’t have 1 song I like or would listen to repeatedly. I still listen to Aaliyah. I was just bumping Hot Like Fire the other day. Plain and simple Ciara is no Aaliyah. It would take a hell of a lot more than 1 hot song for her to get there. When she does I’ll give her her due but I don’t see it happening.

I like CiCi but her recent music is garbage. Polow’s Promise was all that, but that’s it. Go Girl (song and vid), and everything else new I’ve heard are horrible. If anything, CiCi and Jazze Pha had great chemistry. But from what I hear that relationship has been ruined and he’s suing her.
CiCi’s original style and sound were so much better than what she’s doing now. She needs to go back to what worked for her and cut out the gimmicky crap (i.e. the whole superhero “fantasy” thing). I personally think Rhianna’s success has shaken up the whole industry and forced other artist to come up with these stupid gimmicks (i.e. Sasha Fierce, etc) to stand out.

Polow’s comments probably came across the wrong way (particularly to sensitive Aaliyah fans) but he was just comparing his and Ciara’s chemistry to that of TImbalands and Aaliyah’s.
He could have used a Brandy/Rodney Jerkins or even a Janet/Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis comparison and made the same point.

Tim is an amazing producer and personally , i believe that Polow is still an amateur compared to Tim, the pro.
And the Aaliyah/Ciara comparsion, i got nothing really to say. Aaliyah can outsing Ciara any day tho. They master two different sounds.Aaliyah’s vocal ablities can be compared to more of a jazz/soul aspect of r & b while ciara is more of a r & b mainstream/ hip-hop artist.

Aaliyah had a beautiful voice. I loved her music. Her voice and a smooth vibe to it. I just can’t believe that he said Aaliyah didn’t have vocal abilities. I am thinking back to her songs like One in a Million, Let Me Know, It’s Whatever, I Care for You, I Refuse, etc…her ballads showcased her great voice. Her style was unique. She was just smooth all around. I like Ciara more for her entertainment abilities. Her voice is okay. She is not a vocalist, but she can entertain. There is no comparison between them.

Yes you are right about that I luv that song too lol. A few months ago I saw a live performance she did on youtube and she sang with a live band and danced at the same time she hardly went out of breath not alot of people can do that I’m just saying. =)

Ciara really cannot be compared to Aaliyah. Although Aliyah did not have a big voice like Aretha or Whitney, she was a very good vocalist. Janet and Aaliyah have soft melodic voices with very good tone which makes their singing very pleasing to the ear. However, Ciara’s voice is basically weak. Also, with Janet and Aaliyah, no one ever compared them to any other singers. They were unique and distinct. This is the quality that Ciara has not been able to attain. After a few years Ciara should not be compared to other singers. She should have already developed her own style, however this has not happened yet. This is why she is having problems really being a powerhouse talent like a Janet, Beyonce, or Aaliyah. At this rate, she is on her way to being the next Mya (no disrespect intended).

Okay so im a little new to this whole blogging thing but I just had to comment on this topic.
I honestly do not feel like Ciara is a good singer…She is just ok. I mean she had some songs that were ok to listen to for like maybe a month or two but after that its pretty dull. I think she can grow more if she gets some more lessons though…Everyone grows over the years if they practice.
I still go back and listen to all Aaliyah’s music. No one can do what Aaliyah did when she was here. And whoever said Aaliyah wasn’t popular before she died needs to go check on their facts.
Im not sure how Ciara and Polow’s chemistry is but hopefully whatever is going on in the studio with them will produce some hits that can be played throughout the years and not just for a two or three months.
On lil Kim and Biggie. No one will ever really know what the deal was between Biggie, Lil Kim, Faith, or whoever else he was messing with…But Lil Kim needs to STOP IT RIGHT NOW with the plastic surgery!
